As someone who lurks and runs with a bunch of the fandoms involved with "liminal spaces", this one hits closer to the mark of how dreaminess actually feels. Wildness and uncertainty are the norms, that everyone can play around in. They aren't some big boogieman monster chasing you around or you blindly gazing into a tie-dye shirt because they are strange, the strangeness is pronounced in every moment of being. reminds me of those plastic sticks 1st grade teachers used to teach kids maths. We call it "regoli" in italy, but They may have a different name in other countries, if used.
Basically its sold in a small box containing a bunch of white cubes 1x1x1cm each, and coloured sticks that ranges from 2x1x1 to 10x1x1.
Had a box of those at home too, I remember trying to use them as construction blocks for my building made out of wooden dominoes, back when I was 8, but they never really fit.
I wonder if they still sell/use those, here's how they look btw:
