As much as I don't like the guy, his Twitter feed is mostly full just of him retweeting people who kissed his ass over his stupid documentary/college campus approved comedian acts. And, I mean, bitching about Trump but nowadays that's standard fodder for any up their ass liberal. I'm not sure if he alone could carry a thread even if he truly IS a irl Iggy Catalpa.

Apu is portrayed as a hard working Indian man though and a father to all his kids. What's the problem?
At least he's not portrayed as a dumber than dirt fat dude who isn't that great of a father.
 
^Homer already gets enough shit as it is (lousy father and husband), I imagine they'd go in hysterics if he was portrayed as black.

I think we've come to a point where we should stop with this idea of fictional characters being role models, tbh.

I think that fictional characters CAN be role models, mostly in shows aimed at younger kids, but its asking a lot for The Simpsons of all things to be a show stuffed full of role models. From day one the general idea was that it was a show full of incredibly flawed, pretty morally questionable people and that was what made it interesting. Making them anything but would just make the show boring. Case in point: Lisa Simpson, who used to just be a slightly smarter than usual little girl with a moral leaning to the left has become a morality liberal flag who has to 'right' all the 'wrongs' of the rest of the cast and is always in the right. As you probably know she got less and less popular as the show went on.

A show can have a Lisa Simpson 'role model' wannabe, but no one wants a full SHOW of role models. Especially not in a show aimed more at teenagers and adults.

Their are five ways this can play out I can see. I'll try and order them as being ordered in likely hood from 1 (most likey) downwards.

1)They modify apu, bringing a new interpretation of the guy into a show which has turned to shit resulting in a unfunny pc apu for zombie simpsons.Which will cultivate resentment from long time simpson fans. , re-enforce the idea of certain groups are beyond satire and cultivates a canker of racial tension between 'white' murica and american indians by re-enforicing two contrasting narritives which cannot reconcile. Overall making the world a crapper place to live as white and indians collectively hate each other ever so slightly more.
2)Kill apu or vanish his ass more extreme version of option 1 most likely with far uglier reprecussions.
3)Nothing much is done but Apu is very slowly shunted into the background but since no-one watches the simpsons anymore no-one really cares. If we're really lucky tempers will cool so this can blow over.
4) The Simpsons staff grow a pair and show a willingness to critique the left like the did the right in their prime and tell Hari "To go fuck himself" or Rundi ko chod if you want to respect his culture. The media will jump on this and the whole thing will spiral into a massive shitfit but with both sides getting a lot nastyer and embittered. Nothing will be solved. Simular to 1 but with more talking heads.
5) We realize it's okay to love Apu warts and all and the not retarded members of the Indian American community accept him as a legitimate character who fits well into the satirical subtext of the series. Kinda like mexicans did with speedy gonzales or the scotts did with Groundskeeper willie.

Pretty much all of these most likely include Hari's rapidly emerged rep as a misrable bastard.

The same thing's happened with jokes about North Korea being called racist because it being an asian country supersedes the fact that it's a human rights hellhole. I saw a lot of 'good it was racist trash' responses to the fiasco with The Interview

He appeared on British TV a few years back to do stand up. He was legitimately awful, you could tell the crowd's laughter was forced. I also recall reading an interview with him where he pretty much admits he bombed hard, though he tried to twist it as 'too many fucking whities being made uncomfortable, the proud people of color were laughing'. The worst thing was the routine he did on that show was way less political than his other stuff, which really just proves his only 'talent' is stroking the egos of his Brooklyn SJW friends.

As far as I'm aware he's your typical liberal comedian: whines about oppression while being pretty well off himself. His ethnicity is clue enough, but I also know he went to an Ivy League school and did a semester abroad at University College London (despite hating Britain for what they did to India), which aren't easily accessible to kids from the ghetto.

He's a racist scumbag (who ironically tries to hide it behind 'it's just comedy') with a silver spoon in his mouth and an infantile attitude, but I'd say he falls short of being a lolcow. This Apu thing has brought some exceptional moments out of him but that's really it. For the most part he's just a bad comedian.
