Well i was given this as a gift some time ago by a family member because i liked NV, is it worth playing?

I pirated it and I still wanted a refund. It's... Ok. It's not terrible, but it's certainly not good. I didn't finish it.

Large empty world with only two enemy variants, despite being huge the planet is almost all recycled assets, no new weapons or armor despite being a new zone. Quests are few and far between so you can be traveling across copy pasted landscapes for 15-20 minutes at a time without anything happening

Oh and there are only two fast travel points at either end of the map and the few quests that do exist require you to backtrack across the map multiple times.

God now that you got me talking about it it's even worse than my initial recollection.

I bought it on Steam a few years ago during a sale for $15 or $20. It might have been 20. I think it was still $40 at the time and it was half off so it would have been $20. I remember seeing the trailers for it and it looked kind of interesting. It looked like it had a retro futurism style to it which I kind of like. Then I heard other people talking about how it was full of leftist nonsense. Which isn't that odd for RPG's because they have always had some kind of leftist narratives in them. Even Knights of The Old Republic had leftist shit in it. I think there was a a lesbian romance option with that one cat alien and the game just hits you over the head with class warfare and racism bad in the start of the game. I am kind of used to it.

I heard about having to help one of the characters in your party get a date who happens to be a lesbo. What would be funny is if the lesbian character pursues a straight woman and gets rejected and crushed because of the rejection. That would be entertaining at least. But I know that would be too evil.

But I am used to people sperging about politics in games. If the leftist crap isn't too bad, I can generally tolerate it a little. Especially if the game is good. Then I can completely ignore it. But I haven't played The Outer Worlds yet.

They just released a remastered version of the game. I have heard it runs like crap though. If you own the original version, you can get the upgrade for $10. They are calling it Spacer's Choice. It looks better in some ways but not in others. I think they might have overdone it with some of the lighting effects.

True story, I legit quit this game in the final act like 45 minutes before the credits rolled. We had woken up the frozen colonists and were about to enter the final battle and then black buzzcut lesbian #2 said something snarky and I sighed, put the controller down, and went to play Skyrim.

I was just so fucking tired after 12 hours of that shit I couldn't take even one minute more.

Never went back either.

I remember being underwhelmed at the end of Alpha Protocol since if I remember well after the last level if i remember well was you got a screen with text like after other levels and then credits? ((It's been a long time since i played it so i could be wrong) Besides that i enjoyed it

Obsidian claims they had nothing to do with the Spacer's Choice update and that it's all on Private Division.

Yeah the story going around is the publisher Private Division rushed the Spacer's Choice Edition out because their rights to publish the game were about to expire.
They did put out a Version 1.1 Patch this week. If they keep doing bug fixes and updates, the Spacer's Choice Edition has the potential to become the better version of the game at some point.

New Vegas, despite being their debatably best game, is also filled with their worst flaws: clearly unfinished, they devoted a fuck ton of time to one specific part/faction so everything else is lacking, and focuses on neat little details when the bigger ones need sprucing up. Caesar's Legion needed so much more than they gave it. Still a good faction, but it's inconsistently written and ultimately half-baked. Meanwhile, the NCR has fucktons of stations and little quests you can do spread across the entire goddamn map. You only get a handful from the Legion, and they all take place on the far south east.

KotOR 2 is the only one I'll give them a pass on. LucasArts initially gave them a two year timeline, then, having some of the worst management in the industry, six months later commanded going gold in another six. That'll fuck over any studio.

New Vegas is entirely on them. Bethesda's shit-tier QA team didn't make them choose to take on the project while having to finish up Alpha Protocol for Sega, which got released less than six months beforehand.

It is $10 extra for a higher resolution slow running version of the game in what probably should have been a free patch. Because it counts as a different game under Steam you can't use your save files from the original game. Reviews for it on Steam are mostly negative right now.

Yeah, IIRC, those are just the marketing slogans for Spacers Choice which is the budget gear brand in the game.

Their mascot is the weird moon man that they were trying to turn into the next Vault Boy in all of the advertising for the game, hence the push continue using it with this new version of the game I guess.

Yeah, but as the guy after you brought up, in-universe Spacer's Choice sells the cheapo stuff, which is probably not the sort of IRL advertising you want for what is supposed to be a definitive edition. Especially since said Spacer's Choice Edition is proving its a low-quality mess even worse than the original, which is impressive to say the least.

This game is so mediocre, I tried very hard to like it, at best it evokes a fun enough mid tier original Xbox game from 2005 that would have been a respectable rental from Blockbuster.

But it's ruined by a very 2019 sense of Wokeness and "not as clever as you think you are" vibe, the game has just 1 joke, "AREN'T TEH CAPITLISMS TEH STOOPID!?" repeating over and over every moment in the game, to say it's shallow is an understatement, it's never once a single fraction as funny or clever as it desperately thinks it is, it's what a dumb broad with pink or blue hair would think was edgy subversion.

Fallout's contrast of wholesome 1950s Americana and dark and edgy violence was pretty basic bitch for 1997 too, but 1997's basic bitch is still a wholeeeeeee lot more fun than 2019's basic bitch.

one thing i hated about the entire game is the message "CORPORATIONS BAD" but here is the real kicker. they not saying corporations is bad in of itself. they saying corporations are bad beacuse they run by stupid people (AKA men) and if a smart person runs it (AKA a women. not even just any women, but a BLACK women) then everything would be right in the galaxy. if i remember right, the game outright punish you and can even break if you side with the corpo by the end of the game. i dont see new Vegas punishing you for choosing to side with the legion.
