I think it's less that they take their political opinions seriously (a disclaimer similar to what you mentioned re: athlete brain health/privilege is almost always there), and more that it's preemptive ingroup signaling that they aren't a problematic sports fan and outgroup signaling that nobody else should share opinions with the athlete in question.
Basically there's a lot of nerds who never got over high school in sports fandom (blame the internet/stats tracking), and it's when athletes remind them too much of their childhood that they get squirrelly.
It's straight virtue signalling. They'll get their fedora's in a twist because they have to hear someone credit God for their success, but a guy beating his baby momma just gets a "that's not heckin' wholesomerino".

Extremely bad move in retrospect. Now the Packers have the guy who has glass bones and 2 literally whos as RB1-3. Jordan Love makes me nervous every time he takes a hit while rushing, although he did look really cool decking that one guy vs Washington that one time.

I've gone from a hopeful we get a redo of last season with hopefully less injuries to our best players (statistical probability) to now we have no run game and it's possibly totally fucking over, 4th place in the division feelings. Worst case scenario and the Packers need a new RB1, the RB free agent situation looks all old and/or with severe question marks about injuries. I need a rookie Eddie Lacy to materialize out of nowhere for them to have any shot at the playoffs.
The Packers thought they could easily do a repeat of the transition that took place with Favre-Rodgers. Draft a QB, develop him for a few years and build another talented base surrounding him that can get you back to the Super Bowl.

Love however is no Rodgers and the talent that they have been trying to build isn't really turning out to be what they hoped it to be. Personally I am okay with the Packers entering another long dark period. They have been consistently successful most of my life. I am okay with some of the other NFC North teams becoming "the team" of the NFC North.

The way the season ended (5 straight losses, including 2 massive choke jobs to the Bears) the Packers should have cleaned house. GuteCUNT sucks and LaFleur is a fucking loser. The Packers will never come close to the Super Bowl with them in charge.
They are getting closer and closer to having to rebuild, i don't know for this year but it's a possibility for the next few years if things don't change

The Packers seem to have the Steelers mentality of never wanting to go through a true rebuild, even if it means not being a consistent title contender. They'll make the playoffs and maybe win a game, that's the peak. I think the biggest issue with the Packers is LaFleur, he's such a beta bitch. I gave that guy the benefit of the doubt for years but the way he handled last season is indefensible. No organization serious about winning would have kept LaFleur. Gutekunst has missed on so many 1st round picks the team hasn't been able to get over the hump because of it.
I want those guys to prove me wrong, I just don't think they're capable of it.

I think it's a symptom of how, for years, the Packers have basically been the undisputed Kings of the NFC North. The Vikings are a coin toss on a yearly basis, the Bears needed Virginia McCasky to die before they started figuring shit out, and the Lions hyper aggression in recent years has led to them fielding hospital squads more often than not when the refs aren't actively fucking with them.

The Packers have never had a reason to need to improve, especially considering they went Farve to Rodgers in back to back Elite QBs. Jordan Love is a perfectly serviceable QB, but he isn't going to lead them to the promised land. Granted, the Packers have a good team surrounding him, but it's then hamstrung by Lafluer being a choke artist - seriously, how anyone who was even remotely involved in 28-3 still gets coaching gigs in the NFL astounds me, yes I know that includes Dan Quinn with my Commies, but I still think he was brought in as a Culture Guy considering what Snyder and Rivera did...

I couldn't remember who all was on the 16 Falcons staff, so I looked it up. While the entire defensive staff never recovered from 133-1, the offense that couldn't manage a field goal out of 1st & 10 from the Patriots 22, has produced 6 head coaches.
head coach – Dan Quinn
assistant head coach – Raheem Morris
offensive coordinator – Kyle Shanahan
quarterbacks coach – Matt LaFleur
offensive assistant – Mike LaFleur
offensive assistant – Mike McDaniel
Mike McDaniel and Raheem Morris were both fired this year, but still 4 active coaches including both LaFleurs.

Interviews with QBs Kyler Murray and J.J. McCarthy on their relationship with one another so far, not exactly the same answer...

My disapproval of JJ grows rapidly, way to make yourself look like an immature clown with that dogshit comment lol. A grown adult using school class for his analogy of a work colleague is concerning and he sounded bitter. He has zero media tact
What's more embarrassing? JJ is a fuckin father and he's using high school analogies. At the end of the day, here's how it'll play out.

QB1: Kyler Murray
QB2: Carson Wentz
QB3: 9

Nah, I want them to be just good enough that I can count on them getting spanked by the 49ers in the playoffs on a regular basis.

When the QB who needed a study clause in his contract because he played too much Call of Duty is schooling you on maturity.

I have a feeling he's gonna have the Rosen arc where he washes out of the league because he is just way too fucking annoying for any team to want him as a backup.

Reddit is still more offended at Dart right now I bet.
I’m trying to enjoy a nice family vacation away from the political news and would look up the Thunder scores on ESPN. And these faggots that are offended by Dart dominating the NFL news grinds my gears. Why does Harbaugh need to address the Media for his QB introducing the President?

Trump seriously broke their brains.

Personally see Diggs joining a AFC North team, Green Bay or Chicago. But the buccaneers might sneak in there now that San Francisco has Mike Evans

Their brains were, ready broken, him being elected just took that to overdrive
Focusing on the wrong things. They barely focused on the Vrabel bullshit but the political takes of a QB are headline shit? Fuck off
Almost like they are part of the MSM and pushing certain news over others, whether from stupidity, malice, greed or ideology.
