Did your knife come to you acceptably sharp? Mine sure didn't. For the price they charge for these things that was a surprise. And fuck that "working edge" bullshit. Send me a knife that's fucking sharp.
Mine was sharp enough to shave with, how long it lasts we'll wait and see but it's hard to be as bad as the cheapo one I had even if I have to sharpen it soon.

I finally got around to adding a gravity knife to my collection of autos and assisted opening knives and I am not impressed. There is a bit of flex on the release at the pivot point and raw anodized aluminum on raw on raw anodized aluminum is a gritty sticky nightmare. I'm on the fence as to whether return it or get out the Dremel and start polishing contact points.

Gents, I'd like a Trench knife. Yes they're legal in my state.
Does anybody have good recommendations?
Like the M3 Trench Knife or a general WW1 type stabby thing? Ontario went out of business so their M3s are overpriced wherever you can find them. But the ones I had were better made than the cheap replicas sold on military replica sites.

Hey all, just wanted to share a YouTube page for a guy that has some excellent sharpening information. I don't use any of the stuff he sells so I can't comment on that. If you have some time to browse his videos you can learn a thing or two.

Here you go

I'm really annoyed, knife goblins have been ganking my shit
I can't find my throwing knives, AND the USA windowsmasher my wife had in her car is missing too.
it's all of twenty dollars total of stuff but it bugs the shit out of me and I don't want to have to buy new shit

It was my addiction to buying knives that convinced me to cut my alcohol consumption by 50%, The following story is embarrassing but must be told.
A dozen or so weeks ago my daughter drops by for lunch and she brings in an "unexpected" package from the front porch.
I could not recall (thanks alcohol) ordering anything and opened it up. Inside was a Microtech UTX-85 and I asked my daughter, "Did you order this for me?"
She looked confused when she told me no.
I took the knife out of the box and opened and closed it a few times, still not knowing why it had been delivered.
Then I finally turned the knife over and realized upon looking at the other side of the blade that I had bought it for my daughter and had her name laser etched on the blade.
Never again.

Anyone here ever owned a Shivworks Clinch Pick? I bought one of those and one of their Locos. I'll let you all know what I think when they come in.

I have read the story, but I’m confused if this is “I’m lowering consumption so I have more money to buy knives” or “I need to drink less because I’m ordering too many knives”.

Nevertheless. Once you succeed in drinking less, you should definitely consider buying yourself a Kershaw Link Olive 1776OLSW as a gift.

(Jokes aside: Good decision to drink less. Always a good decision to drink less.)

A lot of autistic knife people who buy them and never use them hate Kabars for having a stick tang, but I've hammered the shit out of an 1211 as an actual work knife for about 4 years doing actual farming and it's held up way better than expected. I just sharpen it with a fine grit chainsaw file and it keeps going, fuck the haters

Ka-bars have the prime Roy Nelson of stick tangs, yeah it's technically a piece of shit design feature but that particular example is so overbuilt that it works within it's niche perfectly. I'm kicking myself for not actually owning one right now.

Anyways, I'm browsing KommandoStore buzzed on 8% beer and ordered a new work knife, a French parachutist's knife. I expect this hook to be perfect for opening all manner of boxes, wrappings, and tape at my job, with less risk of cutting or puncturing contents.

Honestly, most of mine are made by a blacksmith that I'm friends with. Also for anything besides multi tool box cutter. Folding knives are fucking for nigger cattle. They will always break on you. And slice the shit out of your hands.
Full tang knives are better. Also have. Several knives. I have a really big utility knife my friend made me. A brush clearing machete. And a very large sword, but that's just for fun.

I like full tang knives and I have some, but they aren't convenient for travel. My folding ones have never sliced my hands before.

Most home blacksmiths I know are not very good and are pretty raw with how they finish their blades, how good is your friend?

Amazing. I've literally. When one of his knives over. Accidentally when I fell out of my pocket with the. 20 ton heady boom. And the thing was still fine.
