R E T V R N:

Decades ago, Chicago alternative rock radio station Q101 had late-night electronic/industrial sets under various names (Industrial Nation, Industrial Zone, Radio Mutation) DJ'd by Zoltar, The Brother From Another Planet (who is actually black despite having an extremely white-guy voice).

The average Zoltar set would probably include Nitzer Ebb's "Join In The Chant", Ministry's "N.W.O.", Bigod 20's cover of "Like A Prayer", Pop Will Eat Itself's "Ich bin ein Auslander (Fun-Da-Mental mix)", and Revolting Cocks' cover of "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?", some Acumen Nation, Front Line Assembly (and/or FLA side projects), KMFDM, alongside more commercial and industrial-adjacent bands like Nine Inch Nails, Gravity Kills, Stabbing Westward, White Zombie, Meat Beat Manifesto, The Prodigy, The Crystal Method, and the occasional nu-metal tracks from bands like Korn, Slipknot and Rage Against The Machine.

Good times if you liked the soundtracks to The Crow, Spawn, Mortal Kombat, The Matrix, Showgirls, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation, The Crow: City of Angels, etc.

Found a recording of Radio Mutation on Reddit - February 15, 1998:

01 Haujobb - Journey Ahead
02 God Lives Underwater - Mouth
03 Lecture On Nothing - Addiction (BatMix) <-- good luck finding this
04 KMFDM - Megalomaniac (uxii mix)
05 Slipknot - Spit It Out
06 Acumen Nation - Queener (Booty Banger mix)
07 C-Tec - Foetal
08 Nine Inch Nails - March of the Pigs
09 The Crystal Method - Cherry Twist
10 Pitchshifter - Genius
11 Boris Mikulic - Break Free
12 Consolidated - Butyric Acid
13 Two - I Am A Pig
14 Rage Against The Machine - Take The Power Back
15 Junkie XL - Billy Club
16 Pig - Volcano
17 Newlydeads - In Denial (Pants On Fire mix)
18 Informatik I Confess (I Wanted To Pray mix)
19 Two - Stutter Kiss (cut off by the redditor's tape ending)

Not recorded: Gary Numan - "Dead Heaven" and Intermix - "Lost Tribe", probably appeared before or after The Crystal Method.

Another set, before handing it off to PULZ-8, at Gotham in 1994 featured:
Nine Inch Nails - Burn
Green Day - Basket Case (somebody requested it)
My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult - Sex On Wheels

KMFDM - Virus
Armageddon Dildos - Everyday Is Like Sunday
Nitzer Ebb - Violent Playground
Ministry - Nature Of Love

italicized tracks do not appear on this recording. these tracks do, from PULZ-8's record collection:
Haujobb - World Window
Front Line Assembly - Millennium
Steril - Egoist (On The Cross)
You Shriek - Bela Lugosi's Dead
Ministry - So What

...Stop reading magazines. Stop watching TV. Stop caring about Hollywood. But we're addicted to the things we hate.

ok so a couple years ago youtube recommended everyone a triphop/DnB album called Los Angeles: Critical Mass that was really fucking good, and while I was trying to find a high quality rip of it i instead found a different set of sample albums called Critical M@55 with a lot of industrial/darkwave stuff on it. first song was Horizon by Funker Vogt and i immediately realized i love this kind of stuff. lots of other stuff there from diary of dreams, wumpscut, din_fiv, fla, vnv, and decoded feedback.
