By giving it the old college try (although it’s just a very temporary success). He applied for a pre-removal risk assessment, which is really the second to last chance saloon. He had to show he has a well-founded fear of persecution, danger of torture, or risk to life or cruel and unusual treatment in every part of his home country. It’s an attempt to get refugee status because circumstances changed. You actually can’t apply for it - you have to hope the Canada Border Services Agency tells you you’re eligible to apply.

Sidhu’s was rejected.

The decision to let him stay on compassionate grounds is entirely discretionary and therefore hard to get. It also cannot be appealed or reviewed by a court. The Government has already made it pretty clear it wants him gone. It’s already rejected a large part of his application (muh mentals) in the PRRA, so now he only has the sick kid to rely on. It’s totally up to the Minister to say so sad, too bad. One of the criteria BTW is strong ties to Canada and employment history, kek. The politics of this are such that it would suicidal to let him stay.

The two idiots above are out of time for making an asylum application. Their next option is to try to get a pre-removal risk assessment like Sidhu, but the bar for success is pretty high and they’ll probably fail like Sidhu because they have to show there’s nowhere in India that’s safe. Unlike Sidhu, they don’t have a sick kid to wave around. And the Government wants them gone.

Immigration law is a very fiddly area of law, and Canada is not going to unfuck itself overnight, but the uptick in deportations and willingness to fight to kick out these criminals are encouraging signs that the Government is starting to listen to people. It’s understandable that scum like Sidhu will try anything to stay. He basically has only succeeded so far because the court rejected the Government’s argument that deferral is only meant for a short period. It’s a trivial change to amend the Act to make that clear for future criminals like these two idiots subject to deportation, and the Government might just have the will to do so, given what it’s done in the Sidhu case so far.

Of course I could be very wrong, but I refuse to be doompilled about the West’s ability to unfuck itself.

Highly stratified primitive culture based around "acquiring" technology, dumb af but think of themselves as the best. Only thing separating them from Jeets is that they're strong and physically tough, and while Jeets being able to survive in the Garden of Nurgle that's the subcontinent is certainly a feat, they're generally pretty squishy.

People hit the obvious ones but here is my pitch. The Cravers from the Endless series. Insectoids that were created/uplifted by a more advanced race to serve as cannon fodder for them and are left on their own now. They have castes, reproduce and expand rapidly, permanently ruin planets they live on through over exploitation and pollution, they research by picking through the remains of destroyed enemies. Worst of all, even if you are not playing as the Cravers, just having their pop on one of your planets will cause it to degrade over time.

Hah that one fits too damn well. Also the fact the Cravers don't speak naturally but instead through an artificial voice with a language not their own - matches up with how jeets cannot speak a word of English properly.

People basically say this as a way to try to not sound racist, since that's the worst sin you could ever commit. Saying they're nice is almost like an euphemism for a "I'm not a racist...but" disclaimer.
