Wouldn’t Ebola burning through the Indian population increase the chance of it becoming airborne?
I know you are making a funny, but let me shit all over it and say no.
Ebola has very hard time spreading. Its very poorly adapted. The only reason there are outbreaks in that region of Africa is due to funerary practices.
Their funeral rights require making out with the corpse and sucking on the corpse's anus to acquire the spirit power.
If they did not have these funeral rites that require rimjobbing the corpse, we'd never hear about ebola as it would never manage an outbreak in humans and "stop shitting in the drinking water river right as people are drawing water" and/or "you don't even need to boil your water, just heat it, we're talking like 150F. You know what fuck it you jungle bunnies here are some iodine tablets." would stop any spread.
But even getting ebola from fecal contaminated water without any treatments is at about the level of "God just wants you dead" when you look at odds. We're not just talking contaimination, you need to inbibe actual poop particles with infected blood in them to have a CHANCE of catching ebola.
in india there is a chance of the outbreaks due to density and poor hygiene, but the virus would require massive changes that would likely render its method of infection to go airborne.
If Ebola took root in India, it would very likely lead to a reduction of lethality, but no new abilities.
to tl;dr: it is a very poorly adapted pathogen that kills its host. Its much better for viral spread for the host to remain alive to create offspring that can likewise be infected. when a virus is lethal it is because it is poorly adapted (i.e. a mad scientist powertripping working with chinks to alter a bat virus to cross over to humans, for example). Viruses will quickly drop in lethality in the wild.
