I had a coworker who explained that to me before.

I think what he said was the the language stopped evolving when English was used, so instead of making no words like Chinese or Japanese do they instead just use English words spliced with there native language.

He told me there was a radio competition in India where they tried to pick people off the street and convert a English phrase into pure bippity-boppity speak. They all failed.

Apparently english is easier than learning another indian language.

Also apparently most jobs even if they aren't working for multinational companies expect some English language skills.

It's also that they've got a dozen different official languages, so they use an english pidgin as a common language. I'm not sure any of them understand half of what they're saying most of the time.

If an Indian were cut off from other Indians, what would usually happen? Like say you dropped one in a town with no other Indians, and no "smartphone" to call other Indians?

They'd probably be anxious and worried. They're basically permanently 'in' with the family/friend group conversation, that never ends. Someone suddenly disappearing from that is probably a cause for alarm, and causing undue alarm in 3rd world countries is usually a good way to get browbeat by your elders. I wouldn't be surprised if it and the constant group travel was an outcome of an unconscious defensive strategy - when you're with your kin, you're not vulnerable the way you would be when you're alone. You also ensure that nobody is acting in a way that'd cause any trouble to befall you, you always know what's going on.

Probably because non-Indians get tired of their lack of proper socialization rather quickly. A lack of environmental awareness is bred into their shit-covered DNA.

The point about their constant phone usage reminds me of two different pajeetas who have been in my life. One was a manager of mine who needed me to train her on nights. Around 3AM EST, she says she needs to call her fiancé. For whatever goddamn reason, she decided to facetime with him and show him the business (and me...). She was cheating on him with her manager, who was also Indian (same ethnic sub-group). Suffice to say she internalized nothing she was trained on.

The other was a woman that I was friends with up until last year. She would facetime with her sister in public spaces making it impossible for anyone to enter/exit a room without being caught on camera. Meanwhile, she would complain if any of her officemates (grad school) did a "work from home" job in their office despite it (a) being necessary to pay their living expenses, (b) communicated well in advance, and (c) on a regular schedule.

Something I want to throw to the wolves: has anyone else noticed that Indians expect everyone to communicate every single second of your schedule to them? I.e. doctor's appointments outside of working hours, dates, meeting with friends, etc. I swear to god these people expect you to drop everything for them at a moment's notice. They have no concept of object permanence.
