As sad as it is to see things like Close Enough and Infinity Train go... It's good to have all those stupid Antifa-Supporting, Soy-Drinking, Child-Grooming, Race War-Inciting Assholes gotten rid of for good.

If true guess he is trying to get investment from the Saudis, as they have a lot of money to burn right now before the oil money dries up

Discovery merging with Warner is weird to me because Discovery paid over 80 billion or a company that owed over 50 billion dollars. People think its going to be burned to the ground in a "rampage" to cut 3 billion in costs initially. Cool. They're still stuck for over 130 billion dollars. That's going to have to be an awful lot of stuff replaced with reality tv about Alaska and automobiles, don't you think?

"AT&T said it would receive an aggregate amount of $43 billion in a combination of cash, debt and WarnerMedia’s retention of certain debt. AT&T shareholders would receive stock representing 71% of the new company, while Discovery shareholders would own 29%, "

AT&T paid over $80 billion cash for it, that company had no idea what to do with the assets and were swimming in debt. Why they did this merger of Warner with Discovery was because it would be fast and make a later sale easier, got to remember AT&T shareholders still own 71% of the company so they had to agree to this deal. Just to note the debt WBD now has is $55 billion, so right now that is all they on the hook for.

Just a question of who will buy them and when now.

Amazon: They had some issues with buying MGM, so that is unlikely but not impossible

Apple: They have the money to do so, however question they would want to pay that much for a brand so different from Apple.

Microsoft: Gamepass has work out for them so getting into different type of streaming services makes sense, however the have no experience in movie/tv. comic business and they have just done the costly take over of Activision

Sony: Did make a play for some of Fox assets but key word is some, so no way they would want the full company nor could they afford it right now.

Comcast: Made a play to get Fox over Disney which they lost, however no secret that CEO John Malone wants Warner and was supposedly one of the options AT&T looked at. This one makes the most sense however would also face most push back with anti-trust laws.

Just because Zaslav will be seen as "Not woke" won't mean the crap he piles out will be good, especially if it winds up being shitty reality TV and other garbage like that.

It's not even based to just kill your company to own the libs

This. Everyone seems to forget that part of why streaming became so insufferably dominant and why traditional TV went to shit as bad as it did in the 2010's was due to the hyper-dominance of reality TV. Zaslav in particular has been a major contributor to that problem.

I really had high hopes for that Batman flick. Anything DC animates tends to be pretty awesome 😕

Toonami and [adult swim] are safe--for now.

Amid its highly publicized merger with Discovery Inc., the content divisions at Warner Bros. have been in a rather volatile state. With several divisions of one of the biggest companies in entertainment facing restructurings and an unceremonious removal of some content from HBO Max, some fans have expressed confusion regarding the future of Warner Bros. Discovery’s channels, including [adult swim] and its iconic weekend anime block, Toonami. Despite the constantly-evolving situations at WBD, the company has confirmed that it has no plans to change the block.

After getting in contact with GameRant, representatives at WBD have confirmed that there are no plans or any desire to axe the block within the company. Likewise, the company has confirmed that the block is still looking forward to continuing its slate of original anime projects, starting in early October with its horror anime miniseries, Housing Complex C. [adult swim]’s original Toonami projects represent an overall shift in the company to combine its existing practice of dubbing acquired anime (mostly shonen) with a slate of more exclusively-broadcast anime and anime-adjacent content.

This includes past series such as Production I.G.’s Fena: Pirate Princess and the CGI Blade Runner spinoff, Black Lotus, as well as upcoming projects including the long-anticipated animated adaptation of Junji Ito’s horror manga Uzumaki and an anime spinoff of [adult swim]’s flagship sitcom, Rick and Morty. This slate of original content in addition to its regularly licensed lineup are clear indicators that WBD still very much believes in the Toonami block.

Still, for fans, the official confirmation is nice to know during what seems like a very fluid, frankly uncertain time at the newly-merged media giant. After being spun-off from its former parent company AT&T and into a new deal with Discovery (a brand known primarily for unscripted reality TV) under the heading of David Zaslav, WBD has been restructuring and refocusing certain aspects of the company, the types of content it puts out, and where that content ends up.

Most notably, this has already resulted in the cancelation of the mostly-complete live-action Batgirl film and several in-development animated projects for HBO Max, which was recently announced to be soon merging services with Discovery’s previous platform Discovery+. These cancelations, combined with the indefinite removal of already completed animated content from HBO Max, have led to considerable apprehension from both creators and fans.

The long-term outcomes of how the company will navigate this belt-tightening are as of right now unknown. Nevertheless, the confirmation that Toonami is all-clear is sure to mean a lot for fans of the block which has allowed generations of fans to fall in love with anime.

Figured I might as well point out that nothing in the article states any newly-licensed material has been announced. Toonami and [adult swim] were gonna continue forward due to contractual reasons, but the anon mentioned they have not picked up new shows and most likely aren't going to. Still take with a grain of salt, but this still hasn't helped confirm nor deny the anon post.

I’m sure you all know Joe, Debras and a bunch of other shit has been cancelled. Well guess what? It’s ALL cancelled. Tuca and Bertie, Birdgirl, Eric Andre, Robot Chicken, it’s all done. Discovery canned everything. The only courtesy given was any series in progress could finish its current season. That’s why you saw stuff like 3BD pushed hard then canned. The one outlier is Rick and Morty because they have so many episodes on their contract. But it’s not an issue since they have deals with other services that may end up with the show in the event Discovery cans it when the contract finishes.

The plans for AS are pretty bleak. It’s going to pretty much just be fox reruns 7 days a week on autopilot. As it is now, the network is already mostly on autopilot mode.

Toonami is going to stick around until Ninja Kamui airs next summer. It’s not going to get any new content though besides Attack on Titan next year since we already have that contract. We bought 150 episodes of One Piece in January, so that’s staying till we get through those. Naruto on the other hand, we had been buying in batches of 60 every year. We won’t be able to again, which means Naruto will abruptly end next year. We had this years 60 + about 40 backlog episodes from prior years purchases. I don’t know exactly what episode it’s going to end on but it won’t be the last one.

Yashahime was a deal we started back in February, we actually intended for it to air way back in March but Viz was being obtuse about it which is why we are just starting it now. In a way it’s a blessing, it makes it look like the block got something, but don’t be fooled, Discovery put an end to us buying shows almost immediately and the odds of them letting it happen again are basically zero.

I dunno, kinda feel like Housing Complex C was supposed to air alongside Uzumaki, or it's taken its place since it keeps being delayed.

But Zaslav hates woke shows so it's fine.

Seriously the moment he floods his service with just a shit load of bad reality tv shows, convinces me that executives in Hollywood are retards who only made it thru connections.

"Paul Kersey" of SBPDL added his pinch of salt about the recent layoffs at HBO Max.
So wait… there was no audience for Batgirl? [Laid-Off HBO Max Execs Reveal Warner Bros. Discovery Is Killing Off Diversity and Courting ‘Middle America’, Daily Beast, August 25, 2022]:

Former HBO Max executives say the streaming service has been left with few people of color to oversee its diverse slate of programming as Warner Bros. Discovery continues its ongoing corporate reshuffling.
The platform reportedly laid off close to 70 people this month. That includes the entire teams overseeing unscripted, kids and family, and international content, according to two former HBO Max execs who asked not to be named.
Those three divisions, responsible for buying shows from production companies and creators and working closely with them during production, are now completely gone.
One former employee says as many as 13 people of color previously in charge of developing shows like The Gordita Chronicles and the Spanish-language docuseries Menudo: Forever Young have been let go, likely influencing the types of shows and movies that are greenlit moving forward. Among those laid off are Jen Kim, an Asian woman who served as the senior vice president of the international team, and Kaela Barnes, a Black woman who worked under Kim.
“I don’t think anyone knows just how white the staff is,” one former executive told The Daily Beast.
Former HBO Max staffers say there are barely any non-white people left in the upper ranks of content, with one naming Joey Chavez, an executive vice president of drama, as one of the few people of color still there. Because HBO Max and the original HBO channel operate somewhat independently, one former executive conceded that “there may be one Black woman on the HBO side. Maybe.”

Btw, there was a older thread about an article who mentioned AT&T plans to expand HBO. https://kiwifarms.net/threads/at-t-plans-to-expand-hbo.45383/ No need to said that article didn't aged well.

Apparently HBO is inflating subscriber numbers, like it really amazes me how much good will they burned off.

Motherfuckers made “Final Space” a tax write off and is essentially erasing it from existence.

Thank god for pirates
Bright side from what I've heard time period they had for tax write offs is now over. Mean could still be things that were wrote off but we haven't heard about now but nothing new at least will be.
