I'm Watching Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny. I'm only 10 minutes in and there's more f-bombs than any movie starring Samuel L. Jackson.
 
Started playing FF7! Mainly because my boyfriends a nerd and won't stfu about it. I've not played any Final Fantasy games, and I finally brought my PS3 round his, so we're playing it on that. I'm just gonna be chatting shit about the game now, vague spoilers and all. Don't read on if you don't want me to spoil a game that's like 15 years old.

Note: I'm not really saying anything of any worth here and there are a lot of words.
It's a pretty fucking cool game. The narrative (I was gonna say storyline, but no.. Just kinda the "series of events" you go through) is really quirky and amusing. Several dialogues and scenes have made me piss myself laughing (especially the brothel :lol:). The fights are cool. The storyline is interesting but their manner of telling it annoys me (purely because I'm nosey and impatient. That's a flaw in me, not the game :lol:). It teases me a little too much, gives me a little bit of information then goes off on another story. When it's being overly mysterious it just puts me off. I think that's what's made me so uninterested in the ancients in all honesty.

Don't understand why everyone loves Aeris tho. She was epic for a bit, but that's just because out of fluke I stole a really good weapon for her early game. Once everyone else caught up she sucks. I guess I have a different perspective to the game tho cuz I know she dies. I guess I'm not very far into the game so that might affect it but seriously, they way she talks, the way she fights, even her fucking victory animation annoys me. The whole "last of the ancients" thing doesn't really interest me. Red interests me more, he's fucking kickass, if not a bit angsty when you do his storyline bit.

I like that the game fucks you over :lol: like the random ladders that don't go anywhere to waste time, or dual entrances. And the desert that is the same screen for ages to disorientate you. And fucking Yuffie, bitch took so much of my money.

And I like that they actually thought shit through, I've just come up to a bit where everyone's like "oh my god there's a spy in the team." I reckon it's Cait Sith. I found one of his megaphones earlier and he's like the most recent character I've picked up and there's been a few other times where I've been like "ooh yeah! Okay." I guess it'd be hard to find an equalibrium between the game not being a tease and still having foreshadowing.

And the backgrounds are stunning. The places you go, even the evil polluted places, look brilliant. Same cannot be said for the sprites tho :lol:.

Only complaint I have about it is I fucking hate games where you just have to talk to people to progress. There's a bit really early where you're on a train being tracked down by some guys and everyone's like "oh my god think of a plan cloud! We're fucked!" And I instantly was like "okay. Can I run further? Nope. Okay. Can I jump out of the train? Nope." I spent like 5 minutes trying to get out of this train. You just talk to a character. Then they all jump out.

WHY TELL ME I NEED TO MAKE A FUCKING PLAN IF I JUST NEED TO KEEP FUCKING TALKING. THAT'S ALL WE'VE BEEN DOING ON THIS FUCKING TRAIN THE ENTIRE FUCKING GAME.

Thats a shit example, but it was the first instance of "talk to proceed" bullshit I came across.

I guess a better way to describe that is "jumping through arbitrary hoops to proceed." There's this guy in a bathroom who asks you for tranquillisers, now I want to give the bastard tranquillisers, I've got tranquillisers but NOO, it's obvious I have to do something else to do that, but nothing really seems related. It may just be because the actions aren't on the first disk or something, but it's annoying showing me something I can interact with but not fix. But like not even "not fix", it's like "you can fix it but its really annoying and ambiguous and will make you sit there going 'how do I do this? Go into inventory? No?' Until you give up trying."

Oh and chocobos are adorable. I love those little warking bastards :lol:. Making them dance in the farm made my day.
Oh and random question to the FF nerds - how come Barret's censored only half of the time? And how come the censoring doesn't ever really make sense? I asked my boyfriend and he told me to shut up and stop asking so many questions about it :lol:.

I was going to go do what I always do when I'm depressed and go out and get food bound to give me diabetes and kill me last night, but I fell dead asleep at 11 and woke up at 5 o'clock sharp today. Good thing the PS3 knows how to turn itself off.
 
I feel like getting those hot dogs from Sonic for lunch today. Pretty sure they're loaded with unhealthy stuff (hot dogs in general are), but I'm in a summery, hot doggy mood, and I want to spoil my taste buds before the inevitably disappointing dinner my in-laws will serve tonight.

I was reading the "Meet the "Ash-a-Likes!"" page on Bloody Disgusting, when I read this:

It’s hard to be a leading man in a Sam Raimi film and not be at least a little bit of an asshead. Not even Spider-Man is immune (See: The Dancing Scene). No where is this more clear than in Raimi’s most recent film, Oz: The Great and Powerful, which is little more than a remake of Army of Darkness for the kiddie crowd.

I knew that there was one scene that is lifted from Army of Darkness (the building the stuff they're going to use to get into the Emerald City is basically the same scene as the Building the Deathcoaster montage from AoD), but now that I think about it, it really is just Army of Darkness for kids! That still doesn't make Oz a good movie, but whatever.
 
I think I found a cure for laziness today.

My mom was buying groceries for my grandmother today, as my grandfather can't drive at the moment. When she came home, she told me that my grandmother wound up with some magazines she didn't want and sent them my way because I like reading magazines. I got some copies of Motor Trend and some 4X4 magazines as well. I usually spring for stuff either relevant to science, or recently, on the subject of firearms and archery. So since I don't read too many of these truck magazines, I cracked one open. It covered suspensions mostly (what else to expect from a 4X4 magazine) and transmissions as well. Then, something kicked in. I put on my boots, went outside, and began working on the lawn like I should have done yesterday. Got done pretty fast and did a pretty good job at it. I went back inside prepared to take a shower and mop some floors. I saw my dog, and rather than getting down and petting her remarking on what a good dog she is, I just looked at her, smiled, and tipped my hat at her like a... well, like a man.

It's not that doing inherently masculine things makes me more productive. I think it's just the prospect of doing something productive that sets me off. And when I get started on work, the energy I exert makes me want to work more. That's just me, though. I don't think everyone functions exactly like I do, but it'd be worth a shot to expose yourself to something productive every now and then and see what happens. I do notice that I tend to block things out when I'm being lazy. Hell, maybe it was just the act of stimulating myself from reading.
