Nothing like going on fb after a nap and seeing a Jezebel article about my college :/

My women's college is opening up ONE residential program to men and they can live in the dorm farthest away from campus and everyone I went to college with is freaking the fuck out over it. I'm not too worried yet because I think the program is going to fail. Also, I have more important shit to worry about.

I wish I didn't have to turn in my Note... I miss my beautiful grenade phone. it was perfect... sure it got really hot when you used it for more than 2 minutes but those 1.9 minutes before that were bliss

I'm doing some hardcore research for an assignment right now (loads of these books are in super high demand and are on 4 hour loan therefore I'll get ass-raped by library fines if I hand them back even a minute late) and most of the books are understandable enough; but this one sentence just sounds like someone ate a thesaurus and projectile vomited afterwards. :stress:

There are drunk people somewhere outside my door singing 90s pop songs and literally fucking screaming at the top of their lungs. At 4:30 in the morning.

I am a fun person, but I am certainly not a morning one.

EDIT: I think someone finally told them to gtfo and go to bed. Thank god.
 
A few days ago I went to an open house of my old high school's vocational courses it offers through its "Career & Technology Center". Aside from noticing four 3D printers in one computer lab (our tax dollars at work), I noticed one particular course offered I only wished was available when I was there over 20 years ago. Dubbed "Media Arts", it covered several video-oriented projects including producing a schoolwide news program as well as individual student films as well (I was informed one was doing animation in Flash).

I was rather impressed at this studio in particular with its cameras fitted with some sort of makeshift teleprompters. Back in the early 90's, the best they could do was a single camcorder or two wired to an A/V mixer while filming normal announcements that were taped after school to air the next day during lunch/study hall (taking up a section of what was essentially a library/equipment room in the A/V dept.) It's was so tacky and sad and I could never fathom how someone could even read the announcements they placed as tiny strips on a piece of poster board used as a cue card. Back when I was so into this stuff, yet they never really knew what to do with people like me who had this niche, there was no A/V club to join and the best they could offer was a film/video class that lasted a semester, I took that during my 10th grade there, after that, nothing! I did use the skills I learned from it to win a free Zenith color TV in a C-Span contest though, so not all was lost.

Here's a sample of what to expect though from this new crop!

And yes, their logo is registered trademarked, that alone is a long story!
 
I guess since I never post here anymore but made a lot of friends while I did that people deserve a bit of an update on me.

I graduate college on Saturday (a semester early even though I transferred twice :) ) and I have a job lined up in Minnesota as a sales and market analyst. I've been dating a guy for over a year now and we're basically engaged. We have two cats that are at a shelter that we're looking to adopt. I'm ready to move on with my adult life and I guess that meant leaving the forum behind.
 
Ever randomly remember some fucked up shit from your childhood and just start cracking up? I did just now and it falls firmly into the "kids can be so cruel" category.

There was this kid in elementary school (it had to be around the 4th grade), we'll call him Dale, who was kind of a dick to the other kids and it was a well known fact that his family was....socioeconomically disadvantaged (even for my area, which was fairly poor in and of itself). So one day everyone at my table was doing some random drawing/coloring activity (for what I don't remember) and kids were passing around this drawing and laughing their tits off.

Someone showed me what the drawing was and lo and behold, it was a 3-panel comic depicting Dale as a homeless cartoon rat (I suspect that Paul, the resident class clown, was responsible). As horrible as it was, we giggled about it pretty much all afternoon until the teacher found out and scolded everybody. Rather than describing it to you panel-by-panel, I decided to faithfully recreate said comic using a shitty free "cartoon generator" site and two minutes of my life that I'll never get back.

And yes, we were an elementary school full of complete assholes. We were the same fourth grade class that made a police officer from the D.A.R.E. program flee from the classroom in disgust. It wasn't so much public school as it as a bootcamp for dickheads. Hell, that's probably why I enjoy this forum so much. It reminds me of my happy childhood :).

At least you were happy, and if someone didn't know the story behind that cartoon you brought up, they probably would've laughed at it as well (I got a chuckle)!
 
I looked up my old secondary school friends on Facebook hoping to reconnect but they're all rich, cool, successful adults now....

My old bff went to India, China and got married all in the same year : (

Had a vision that involved a me chasing a Pygmy goat into the horizon. The Pygmy goat finally went Inside of a mirror and the mirror reflected the goat. I was the goat. The goat had a gold chain around its neck that said 'TIME' on it. at that moment I understand immediately what I needed to do. The goat smiled and said to begin. I found myself in the backyard of my house, sawing away at a tree in order to make the proper materials. on Black Friday I rushed straight to the jar sections. Carry my money in a jar. Carey my sticks, my scabs, my blood, my leaf in the jar. Got so many poppy dolls. So many folks made from my sticks and chips. I stab a needle into it:) and lots of fun!

That's rough. Right now, I'm enjoying my first time at a Dave & Buster's (now that they came to town). Sorta miss this experience!
 
Feeling a little mopey right now. I went to a new plasma center a few miles down the road, but had to be turned down as they couldn't find any veins on either harm they could use. This is hypocritical as I've been able to give plasma before at the Red Cross without problems (and this was 20 years after I was turned down at another plasma center that later shared my info with another in the area, banning me for 60 years). These for-profit agencies all get staffed by very young people anyway (expecially trainees), I can understand why they have to follow the book, but it's also a shame not to make a little quick cash when handy.
 
Update on the laptop: after 6 years I have to buy a new one. Its done and not worth repairing. The good news is it appears that my harddrive doesn't appear to be damaged and I should be able to save my files.
