I think you mean deathblow. Still not top tier but my latest final party used Tifa (and Red) and had no issues with anything so top tieringest isn’t really necessary.

In Remake the two girls are waaaay better than Barrett or Cloud so Tifa might get nerfed (since Aerith dies a nerf would be unnecessary).

And by nerfed I mean “not buffed as much relative to everyone else + the encounters”.

Right, my bad. I never actually finished the OG VII. I was too young when it first came out to have the attention span and as I got older I found I couldn't quite get into JRPG's. I did have a big emu phase where I went though some of the legends like Legend of Legaia and Xenogears, but never managed to finish either. For Xenogears Deus crashed my game and an HDD failure wiped my save soon after, so fuck that shit, especially given what a flaming, unpolished turd Disc 2 is. And I think LoL got lost in that same failure.

I remember that game had like an average completion of 80 hours, which was a lot back then. I wonder how long it would take to level Knights so many times it split enough for the whole party.

If you're being efficient and hunting movers and magic pots, 5 hours.

Can't you slap Tifa's second-best weapon on her and just God Hand everything thanks to that ridiculous 250% accuracy bonus?

Christ, I wonder how they're going to handle that shit in the Remake. She already gets absurd Luck and +Crit on that one weapon. Slap on that Luck Up you get from Darts and she gets crits left and right.

The problem is that Yuffie by far has the strongest ultimate weapon, and Cid has an easy to max ultimate weapon and a multihit limit break. Tifa spamming death low will at most hit for 9999, but her limit break will suffer

Tifa has a limit break?
(I mean yes, but that slot machine mechanic can screw you out of a lot of damage thanks to RNJesus.)

You must not be very far so you haven’t seen her Break grow. But it does. Also her late game weapons kinda blow so people tend to use meme builds for her.

FFVII is my shit, I've played that so many times but its mostly because it was my first FF , when it came out.

I always hated KotR to be honest, summons were just a pain in the ass but at least they maintained their usefulness.

My favorite materia combo is Deathblow + Slash-All leveled up only to 4x slash (the one right before Flash, since Flash doesnt work on bosses.) This gives you a chance for a critical hit in addition to 4x slashes.

My preferred team until Aeris dies, is Aeris, Yuffie & Cloud. When Aeris dies, I swap her with Tifa. As it should be. Yuffie & Cid's dialogue is fucking essential to the game lmfao, having them in my party makes me actually laugh out loud

Tifa's limit break is OK, i can usually land all crits. It's her ultimate weapon that sucks. Ultra power with low HP, that's gay.

Vincent is a shit character and even more annoying in battle. Yes he has a long-range weapon, but so does Barret and Yuffie (superior characters). His dialogue is non-existent and when its there, it sucks or its like Squall. His limit break is absolute faggot city. Faggot ass character

They already hinting that they're going to fuck with Aerith not being dead right at the start of the Rebirth trailer monologue.

Rebirth more than likely means she's going to be reborn.

It's all endless kaizen-pilled fuckjob shit; on the rare occasion that they create a decent isolated story from beginning-to-end, they go and turn it into a cash cow. Considering that FF7R's death count is in the negative and the whole plot resolves around breaking fate, no fucking way they'll suddenly start killing characters.

If anything I'm betting a Sepiroth clone becomes a good guy and the final boss will be Jenovah that has fused with Meteor. Or maybe it will be Weiss fusing with Jenovah.

I was thinking about this, mostly because Maximilian Dood has infected the public consciousness with his Nojima-adjacent thought processes. Now everyone is convinced that Aerith will live at the expense of Tifa.

At first, I thought it was stupid, because Tifa isn't a character that is set up to die for any reason other than shock value, and then I realised that making the most shallow possible narrative decisions is kind of what Nomura and Nojima does. I'm almost certain they'll 'kill' Tifa and then bring her back before the end of the trilogy.

I absolutely adore most of the games you've listed here (Especially Suikoden III and FFIX) but I'm not really sure if any of them have the power to pull you back in if you're feeling burned out.

Xenoblade 2 and Trails in the Sky made me love JRPGs again, but now I'm feeling fatigued again and am hoping Xenoblade 3 and Eiyuden Chronicle are stellar.

I'm going to have to disagree. Nomura is the one that came up with the pivotal idea to kill Aerith. Granted, he originally pitched killing either Aerith or Tifa, the endpoint was that it was important that Aerith die and it be permanent.

I don't think they'd go against that as it's such an iconic moment, not even for shock value. I'm willing to bet that they will do a fake out where you think Aerith has been saved, only to pull the rug out and actually kill her anyways.
