Pink Flamingos was surreal but very amusing, especially in the trial scene. I also got a kick out of Female Trouble and can’t get the theme song out of my head; the only criticism I have is that I felt some of the scenes went on for a bit too long.

I had an interesting takeaway from the two movies: while they were no doubt meant to be very shocking for their time (especially Pink Flamingos), it was kind of strange watching them because in this day and age, people are pretty much desensitized to the point where the expected reaction to certain scenes is “Oh” instead of “Oh!”. Nevertheless, that was the point of cult/underground movies during the pearl-clutching days; people were willing to push the envelope to satiate their niche audience. Waters knew what he was doing to break the norm, and he delivered. You can definitely tell Divine was having a blast with his/her roles, and overall they were those types of movies you can show your friends with no explanation, but everyone laughs in the end.

Love John Waters but the best thing he did recently was a doc called " Of Murder and Dolls"
It was on Netflix a few years back - unsure if it is now.
Really cool doc for anyone who loves the true crime drama
