On one hand, Guardians of the Galaxy was approximately as obscure as Eternals before becoming one of Marvel's most valuable properties. On the other hand this looks like Diversity the movie, a plague of this entire phase.

Edit: and on the shit on my heel I hate Kumail Nanjiani.

Unfortunately the Guardians films don't hold up, especially on repeat viewings. Really the only good things going for them are the soundtracks.

It doesn't usually go better for Marv/sney (or is it Disn/arvel?) when they actually cast Asian actors though. China hated the Asian chick in the newish Star Wars movies, even though she was almost certainly put in there just for them. I've heard multiple theories as to why they hated her so much from, "she was the wrong kind of Asian" to "she was just ugly."

I can't speak to her being the "right, or even wrong kind of Asian" but my money is just her just being too ugly for them.

The hatred she got for so much as breathing was completely unnecessary and uncalled for, especially when war criminal and botched abortion faced Adam Driver was in the cast. But more importantly it sucks that she was promised a bigger role in the final film, only for them to completely fuck that up in the finished product. The biggest issue for me is that she did not contribute anything important. She's just there because Asian minority. They could have had her be related to the two gay Asian mercenaries from Rogue One...but nah let's focus on the two Mary Sue's instead.

Believe it or not, my 'disagree' was mostly for this. GOTG 1 was fine for what it was. No it wasn't my favorite but if I was ranking all of the MCU films, it would easily be in the upper half of all of them for me. GOTG 2 was obviously a bit lower than that, but I'd still say it's in the upper 50% of the MCU.

I don't "hate" Rose Tico, (for breathing or otherwise) I don't even hate the woman who played her, but come on... you have to admit that the actress isn't conventionally attractive. And I'm not even making up the fact that the Chinese filmgoers hated her. For them, she was basically the Jar Jar of the new trilogy. (In that she was introduced in one film to appeal to a specific audience with the expectation of being a popular new character, and it totally fell flat) *That* is why she had a minimized role in Rise of Skywalker. She was literally the Jar Jar of the sequel trilogy.

It's funny that after saying all that you're still calling Adam Driver ugly. (And for the record, I don't even disagree with you... he totally is.) But why is it ok for you to think Adam Driver is ugly, but it's terrible that other people think that Kelly Marie Tran is ugly? Yellow Fever?
Ehhh...

She was Vietnamese. Take a brief look into the historical relations between China and Vietnam. Spoiler: It's not pretty.

Ooooooohhh this thread is gonna invite the wrath of a certain someone.

And regarding The Eternals; no trailer yet but I honestly couldn't give a shit, though the drama I'm sure it will spawn will be fun.

I forgot that The Inhumans and The Eternals were different groups.

I don't care about The Eternals. I'm not a comic book person so to me they just look like another group of generic MCU characters wearing CGI clothes.
I only liked a handful of MCU capeshit (Iron Man 1, Captain America 1, CA: The Winter Soldier, Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and Infinity War). I can't stand the cinematography (bland on purpose), the way the producers can change the props and the costumes at the last minute with a shitty CGI version based on focus tests.
To me, the MCU ended with Infinity War. Watching the villain kill the quippy heroes one by one was really comfy. Now, it seems like Victoria Alonso has taken over the production and Feige is just a puppet.

Wait? Jack Kirby’s Eternals? They’re really doing this? Back in my comic something days, there would have been people incensed with this idea.

This is what happens when you run out of all the classic runs of stories to adapt only to realize that the current storytellers are not nearly as good as the ones that came before and that you've been using your comic publisher for the last ten years to push social justice shit instead of writing compelling stories. Welcome to the bottom of the barrel.

Only thing I know about this Marvel flick is that there’s going to be some random gay subplot that sounds very confusing for a superhero movie.

Also, the actor from Train To Busan, Ma Dong-Seuk, is in it as well.

Alleged plot leak on reddit

This plot summary was sent to us a few days ago, and was followed by undeniable evidence of factual information by the leaker. Please remember that this plot is a very early test screening, and included unfinished FX, temporary music tracks, and probably scenes that will fail to make the theatrical version. However, after several dives into this source's credentials, we have discerned that is a legitimate plot leak for November's Eternals

Enjoy the feast below:
There is a lot of jumping around in time to give context to various plot points - I don't recall all of the linear order so will just include the info as part of the synopsis
Opening title card explaining the Deviants and Eternals - the Deviants were created by the Celestials to hunt predators that prey on intelligent life on newly evolving worlds, but then they started to hunt the life as well, so Ceestials created the Eternals to kill the Deviants.
Opens 5000 years ago in Mesopotamia a man is fishing on some rocks with his son (?) and is attacked by a Deviant from the ocean. The Eternals show up and a short battle commences, after which they line up in a triangular "hero" pose and this rolls into the Marvel logo opening.
Jumps to present day - Sersi and Dane Whitman are teachers in the UK and dating. During a class lesson, a large earthquake strikes, and Sersi saves a child from a falling object by turning it to sand. Later while out on a date, a Deviant attacks Sersi, Sprite, and Dane; during the battle Ikaris shows up and they fight it off after noting that they thought all the Deviants were destroyed and unlike others, the Deviant was able to heal its wounds.
The group decide to visit Ajak as she was the leader of the group. After arriving at the midwest ranch where she is now living, they discover her dead body, A small golden device leaves Ajak's body and enters Sersi ( this is how she communicated with the Celestials) - they then decide to round up the rest of the Eternals to deal with the Deviants.
Thena and Gilgamesh are in Australia (I think) due to an issue with her memory causing her to randomly attack the other Eternals. Gilgamesh is obviously in love with Thena but it is not played as a romantic relationship.
Phastos and his husband live with their child and he decides to help due to the fact that he has fully embraced the human race and wants to protect his family.
Makkari has been living in the Eternals ship all this time (I guess, since there is a bunch of food containers and mess strewn about.
Kingo is a Bollywood actor ( there is a short dance routine that introduces this) and comes with the group along with his valet (don't recall the name) who tries to document everything on video.
Druig is living in some rainforest controlling a small village of people after losing faith in humanity and wanting to control them to stop war, famine, etc. Gilgamesh is killed fighting the Deviants in the forest.
Sersi learns that the Celestials created both races and that the Eternals are basically just very advanced robots. They seed young planets with a Celestial "egg" that takes eons to mature. The evolving intelligent life on these planets feeds the Celestial's growth, so the Eternals are sent to protect the evolving life forms and kill the Deviants. After the emergence, the Eternals are " rebooted" and sent to another world (this is the cause of Thena's memory issue, as she knows that the planet is doomed) - this cycle has gone on for millions of years. Earth was seeded and Tiamut is about to emerge (this was the cause of the earthquake earlier). Once awakened, the entire planet and all life will be destroyed.
They debate on what to do and some decide to try and find a way to stop the emergence. Ikaris disagrees, Sprite and Kingo are on his side but Kingo agrees to help.
Phastos designs a device (Uni-Mind) that will allow Druig to channel all the Eternals energies in the hope of controlling Tiamut and putting him back to sleep.
Sersi learns that Ikaris knew about the Celestials actual plans and this is why he left the group hundreds of years ago. He killed Ajak because she had decided to help stop the emergence and save Earth.
The group go to where Tiamut is and attempt to use the device - Ikaris and Sprite attempt to stop them. Sersi then uses the device to amplify her power and turn Tiamut to marble just as his hand and part of his head is emerging from the Indian Ocean.
Ikaris flies off into space (towards the sun - unclear if he just left or flew into the sun and killed himself), then Sersi makes Sprite a real human with what remains of her power.
A few days (?) later Thena, Makkari, and Druig leave in the ship to seek out other Eternals and try and stop the cycle of destruction. Sersi, Kingo, and Phastos stay on Earth but are then pulled into space by Arishem and vanish.
The two end credit stingers: 1) Dane is looking at an old box and pulls out a sword that is wrapped up. Just as he is about to touch it, an off screen voice stops him. 2) On the Eternals' ship, Pip the Troll appears and introduces Starfox.

The film gets even more autistic and confusing than it already is lmao

I can't see how Marvel can pull this off without it being a slog to watch.

People are mad about the gay thing but you really think they gonna put actual gay shit in lmao China will never agree to it and they need the money.

Also it sounds retarded not the least being nobody knows who these gods are

This sounds like it's gonna be super cringe, like the girl power shot in Endgame's final battle.

The group decide to visit Ajak as she was the leader of the group. After arriving at the midwest ranch where she is now living, they discover her dead body,
Ajak is Salma Hayek's character right? What a waste. I hope she got a good paycheck.

I'm half-expecting them to push this back again. If that plot leak is accurate, the film is a nigh-incomprehensible mess. I don't sense that there was any vision for this movie other than "diversify the MCU". With all the black and gay here, this film is going to bomb hard in China and I don't see anything here that's going to attract US audiences enough to make up the difference.

This just suffers the same continuing problem of having yet another nearly-averted world-ending threat that’s effectively just a copy of GotG2. World-ending stakes don’t mean shit when you know the heroes are going to win anyways.

As long as Disney panders to China, any gay or lesbian content will be relegated to simple, non-consecuential scenes that can be easily edited or dubbed to either make the characters straight or have the scenes removed entirely. Until the Mouse lays off Daddy Xi's sperm, LGBT stuff will be just pandering to western audiences. When Marvel and Feige talk about having more gay characters in their products, what they really mean is having things like the blink and you miss it lesbian kiss in ROS or the gay man in Captain America's therapy session, easily dubbed for a Chinese release. Meanwhile, the people that Marvel wants to pander to wants the gay stuff to be front and center. That's not happening.

Holey shit. I remmber when Rise of Skywalker was coming out J.J Abrams was hyping up the first gay kiss scene or gay couple of star wars. And when watching the movie the scene is like a second long and I'm not even sure if they kiss or not. Also the characters were no body's

I would love if this is going to me similar
