Wait, the Simon Stålenhag book? The book is good but this is Netflix so its probably going to be drained of its soul.

I don't think the grime in the book was captured at all in that trailer. It'd be a feat even with the appropriate figures involved with the project.

It also seemed to miss the point and failed to actually take advantage of Stalenhag's art style. Gave up on it a couple of episodes in. Somehow this movie looks like it'll be worse. Generic CG realism doesn't suit his work at all, and they exchanged esoteric lore for a generic, sappy, cliched Hollywood sci-fi plot that I could probably guess the synopsis of from the trailer. Especially since the narrator/protagonist practically spells out part of it's lore.

Liked the book, art is beautiful and peak Americana, the trailer made me sick in the stomach about two thirds through.

Meant more the formula Pratt as lead + Millie Bobby Brown + Russos. Pratt is fine but people not giving a fuck about Netflix anymore makes it very easy to forget just how much Brown is forced into everything and for long it has been the case.

Bump: Just got it magically last night, It's as bad as the critics and I've been saying. It's the rip off of the Futurama episode about the Robot revolt pretty much. The only highlights in the movie are Mr. Peanut and George Costanza. Not joking!
