Two 8-month-old pit bulls that were loose in Nanaimo attacked several children, severely injuring at least one. Other people that came to aid the children were also injured.

The children were playing in a yard at the house of one of their friends. The dogs were from somewhere else in the neighborhood and had been cited for being at large previously.

One of the owners of the dogs came and got the dogs but did not stick around. The news interviewed the other owner, a Dangerhair that looked to be in her late 40s or early 50s. While she was devastated at what her dogs had done, she said to the reporter, "People are saying, look at this from the prospective of a parent, well, these dogs are my kids, too," and then she broke down crying.

It was later reported both dogs were euthanized, as there have been other incidents prior to this one, and due to the severity of the injuries the one particular child sustained.

To the dangerhair dog owner I would have to say, "If these dogs were your KIDS, you did a lousy job of raising them. Thank heavens you didn't spawn any of your own."

Only if you know fuckall about dogs. Huskies are working dogs which, depending on opinion, aren't fully domesticated and definitely require a ton of effort and training to keep them in line.

Actually I would be very qualified. I grew up with a white male Husky bigger than a standard AKC size and he may not have been pure bred weighing at 83 lbs. He has gorgeous eyes but lower tolerance for children's antics. When I was age 10 and playing with the 3 dogs in their enclosure I'd tease him by standing over his back and he'd pull the fuck away like a freak out.

This is comparing apples and oranges. A pinky finger is small enough to be swallowed whole. Also a single finger can be detached from the hand with less trauma and force than the case of the kid that got his hand ripped in half. The complexity of reconstructing the connections of a single finger against the entire top half of a hand (not even an adult's hand but a 4 year-old's child which scales everything down) makes it an even more a complex task.

That said, yes I agree that there should have been an attempt to get the hand back but even here the circumstances where completely different: The dog that ate the 11-year-old's pinky finger was the family dog, it happened in their property where the father had fast access to a gun, the dog and a knife. The dog that ate the hand of the 4-year-old was behind a fence in someone else's property which already delays the time it takes to reach the dog to kill it, gut it and get the hand back. The full cooperation of the dog's owner would have to be mandatory to achieve this quickly enough to still make the severed appendage viable for recovery, let alone reattachment but as the news story shows, it doesn't seem that was the case.

Again, I do not disagree with your sentiment, but realistically the circumstances of the case made it all the more complex to recover what was lost.

MASSILLON, Ohio – Leonard Miller was in his kitchen when he heard a frantic knocking at the door and the sound of a little girl screaming for help.

The 13-year-old girl told her neighbor that their dog was attacking her younger sister and would not let her go. Miller didn’t think. He reacted.

The following minutes were a blur as he rushed to the home next door.

Thinking back to Sunday afternoon, the 88-year-old wishes he would have grabbed his baseball bat before heading into the home. He didn’t want to be without a weapon, so he snatched the first thing he could — a 2- to 3-foot nutcracker that was part of a Christmas display outside of his neighbor’s home.

“This dog had this little girl down just growling,” Miller said. “He had her arm and was shaking her like he would shake an animal or something. I hit the dog in the head three or four times, and it wouldn’t let loose.”

After hitting the white pit bull a few more times in the back, it finally let loose its grasp on the 10-year-old child, Miller said. The girls ran out of the home, and Miller backed away from the dog, locking it in the house.

As he made his way out of the home, the dog didn’t make a move to attack him, he said. It didn’t growl at him. He yelled authoritatively at the dog: “No. No. No.”

He took the girls to his home, where he called an ambulance.

On Monday, the dog’s owner surrendered it to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office.

″... That dog was vicious,” Miller said Monday morning. “I don’t know what they’re going to do. ... I couldn’t sleep too good because of everything that happened yesterday.”


Severe injuries

Miller, a U.S. Army veteran, served as a combat medic in Korea. His instincts kicked in, and he didn’t hesitate to help the girl. Even at 88, Miller uses the treadmill and lifts weights to stay in shape.

“My doctor tells me, ‘you’re in better shape than most 50-year-olds,’” Miller said.

Perry Police Chief Mike Pomesky said officers were called to join the Fire Department just before 4:30 p.m. Sunday.

It appeared the attack was unprovoked, Pomesky said. The girl was transported to the hospital with severe injuries, he added.

The 10-year-old girl’s condition was unknown Monday. She had severe injuries to her left arm, officials said.

The neighbor girl reminds Miller of when his own children were young. He said he often saw the girl, who is a cheerleader for youth football, doing somersaults and playing in the front yard.

“I’m glad I was here to help,” Miller said. “I don’t know what would have happened.”


Vicious dog

Not long before noon Monday, Miller was outside his home talking to reporters when he saw a man exit the home and then quickly go back inside.

Miller crossed the yard to his neighbor’s home and knocked, hoping to get an update on how the girl was doing. No one answered the door. As he stood outside the home, he picked up a nutcracker matching the one he used to hit the dog.

“This is heavier than I thought it was,” he remarked before setting it back in place.

The dog remained at the home overnight. Miller could hear it barking Monday morning.

Major C.J. Stantz of the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, said the dog was deemed vicious. Deputies went to the home Monday afternoon to talk with the owner, who decided to surrender the dog, Stantz said.

According to the Ohio Revised Code, a “vicious dog” is a dog that, without provocation, has killed or caused serious injury to any person. The owner of the dog has the option to surrender the dog.

When the girl’s mother was notified by the Sheriff’s Office and given paperwork, she told officers the dog did not belong to her; it belonged to a man who had also been living in the home, Stantz said.

“As a police officer, we can recommend,” Stantz said. “We can strongly recommend to the homeowner and give them some scenarios. Ultimately, it’s the property owner’s decision what they do with the dog. ... We can’t violate their rights.”

they have to eat a fair amount to die quickly, which they might not because it has a bad aftertaste, and they will start throwing it up. If they only eat a little, or throw up most of the dose, they will likely die slowly over a few days from kidney failure.
xylitol is sort of the same, but it is unlikely to cause vomiting & has no bad aftertaste so they are more likely to go apeshit eating it. Xylitol causes hypoglycemia from over release of insulin, so it happens awhile after an animal eats it. If they don't eat enough of it to die quickly from hypoglycemia, then they die slowly of liver failure.

No matter what the case, your friend should be careful. If a dog is at large and comes on to their property and eats something that just happens to be laying around & dies then the owners have no one to blame but themselves. if the dog owner bothers to do a good job of keeping their animals contained, and someone goes over and poisons it (regardless of the reason), that's risking an animal cruelty charge and a lawsuit.

If it was an islamic isolated incidenter - cook him alive in lard and livestream it, so that the the entire world knows that if they fuck with your nation and get caught dead or alive they do not pass go, do not collect 72 virgins, but they do get fried into bits in pig fat, minced through a wood chipper and fed to dogs. With a dog though? It's just an animal, as much as I despise pibbles they're broken by our own hand, they're not malicious or evil per se - just completely maladjusted. After the decision was issued to euthanize Dexter, according to the Journal Inquirer, Hornish and her husband asked a political representative, First Selectwoman Melissa Mack to intervene and support their effort to have Dexter moved to an out-of-state sanctuary or any other suitable way to save his life. The report states that, in addition to their request, seven letters from friends and relatives were emailed to the Selectwoman, describing Dexter, as “well-behaved,” a “gentle soul,” “a joy to be around,” and a “very sweet dog” who “just wanted to cuddle.”
However, Mack declined, stating she supports Selig’s “professionalism and judgment” in the case, and isn’t going to intervene," according to the Journal Inquirer.
Hornish filed an appeal of the order to the state Department of Agriculture. Dexter will remain in quarantine until a decision is made on the appeal.

They would have to be rounded up and euthanized, the only reason they are a problem is that people let them run amok and breed uncontrollably and then sell their puppies on craigslist to other niggers who will do the same thing.

I'm not against them existing, but there should be licensing and government oversight if people are going to buy and keep deadly animals. If the government is going to forbid me from shooting them on sight, then they should be responsible for making sure I don't have to encounter pitbulls in public.

Ummm, you might want to re read that article again. It says the finger could not be reattached.

I agree with your sediment though. An animal should ALWAYS come second to your child, and the galls these pieces of shit parents have to put the pitbulls anywhere near their baby in order to take pro pitball propaganda photos is astounding.

I would be fine with that if it was enforced(and if you could potentially go to jail for repeatedly breaking it) but it's not as far as I'm aware. Even in places that ban pitbull breeding the law isn't being enforced.

It would probably be as impossible to implement as banning certain kinds of guns, because the people drafting the legislation wouldn't know what to ban, and would end up accidentally banning completely harmless things while failing to ban what they want to ban, and then people would start breeding things that weren't technically "pit bulls" but had all the behavior issues and jaws like steel traps.
