THE BIRD THREAD - Post birds, discuss birds or even sniff birds.
I keep seeing swallow tailed kites around my place. I'm super excited about it cause they are rare here. I haven't been quick enough to get a picture though. Such beautiful raptors.
I've been watching old Jontrons recently and it made me remember an old video of him playing with his bird. It's actually kind of buried. I'm putting an archive here just in case:
My little guy needs the vet, because they have foot problems. And all of the vets we were told about fled the area due to covid. It stinks, but he's happy.
Last year I put up a Birdfeeder but didn't get a reaction at all. In December I put up something extra and nothing happened. But in May they were all over it, tits, sparrows. It's so lovely. I even saw some mama bird and her little ones fly and her feeding them right in front of my window.
Here's a woodpecker I saw in my neighborhood. So cool. Saw him eat from my feeder a few time
On my break today I was listening to bullfinches calling. Coupled with the wind through the trees it was very relaxing. I love how they always sound slightly disappointed.
Where I live there are many turkey vultures that like to ride the thermals and some times hang out on the roof of the barn, and a Heron rookery over the creek in the nearby woods. Always fun watching them go about their business. There's also a group of crows that live in the neighborhood and like to peoplewatch. Birds are neat.

I got really excited seeing turkey vultures when I visited the US! I had never seen wild vultures before. I was out on a walk and went 'why are all those big weird crows sitting in the roa-OH MY GOD VULCHERS'
