Film itself will be mostly practical effects. Only the teaser was made in Blender, aside from the final shot.

I'm not sure to what direction this will go in, either filmed from a camera POV or standard 3rd person following the MC, if it's the latter then this shit will deflate any semblance of immersion since the former is what made it enticing in the first place.

a lot of people say that house of leaves and twin peaks came up with this idea first but actually there seems to be an even older origin point: a rather obscure french anthology series from 1989 called "the forbidden files" , specifically an episode called "the ferguson case" , i have even seen some people suggest that house of leaves ripped it off from it lol
the whole thing keeps getting uploaded to youtube now and then and getting striked down for copyright, its prob still there if you look hard enough, i think it has only recently been avaliable legally for purchase again

Full trailer dropped.

I don't really have any interest in Backrooms stuff prior to this, but I like a lot of A24 productions so I'm optimistic.
I'm cautiously optimistic.

I hope Kane Pixels will continue his People used to lived here series.
I'm not going to go see this movie but someone in this thread do me a favor for the credits because I'm really curious if there's any kind of thanks or credit for the guy who originally made the Backrooms post.

I saw it tonight and thought it was good, but I went to see it with zero knowledge of any Backrooms lore so I wouldn't have been able to recognize who you're talking about.

Saw it last night. I also have no idea of the "original" lore beyond the aesthetic and basic idea, and some interpretations like in MyHouse.WAD.

It's a thoughtful movie that left me asking questions. I don't need to know the official answers, because I enjoy fiction which activates the almonds and leaves me theorizing answers.

The backrooms seems to be an alluring trap for people who have an unresolved fixation on a traumatic event. The black MC cannot get over the one night where he broke the glass. The girl MC became a therapist to understand what a normal life should be after her terrible childhood. The mystery of the backrooms has a hypnotic effect on those who have not come to acceptance and still feel like life is a puzzle that needs resolution, when it's not at all. Some things just are, and you have to accept that. The backrooms are life itself, and trying to solve it will create demons and cause your doom.
