I'll never forget that Matthewmatosis review where he points out that for how racist the game wants Columbia to be, the devs never had the balls to have anyone actually say "nigger."
The Fall of Shadowstone Park is also MOSTLY excellent (the twist where it's revealed that the CIA was involved was a bit too goofy for the rest of the series, but I love the rest)
It even does concepts from the Digital Circus even better like having well written non-straight characters that aren't shoehorned in, a mystery that actually pays off, multiple twists that recontextualize the entire series that improve it on rewatch, and a twist involving brain scans
I watched the whole thing in one go. Damn, I have so many questions. Thank you for linking that. It's definately going to take a re-watch to 'get' some of the less obvious things that answer themselves but don't seem to. I would like to know why the cat was parapalegic and had to ride in the mouth of a pelican. (spoiler deleted)

Just finished watching this series and I must say: if this series debuted 10 years ago, perhaps, it would be more popular and more of a novelty than now because that's when subversion of seemingly cute and toonish characters into something more sinister and dark was flourishing, especially because of that lame Sonic.exe creepypasta and other gay-ass creepypastas of childhood cartoons.

Is it sad that I like this more than the actual show after having watched it? (Even if passing the original isn't that high of a bar admittedly.)
Also with the plotline of Pomni/Jester having taken over the circus and gone mad with power it makes me genuinely wonder if Nooseworx saw this series AND all the predictions of Jax taking over the circus and going mad with power after Caine was deleted prior to the final episode being released and said to themselves vehemently, "I MUST SUBVERT EXPECTATIONS!" Hell the visual style even fits the fucking setting of the show better than the official one with how primitive it looks. Remember this is all a simulation running on like a 90s computer or something allegedly, of course it looks like shit.

Some other cowardly inaccuracies brought a TV Tropes editor to write down Columbia on their page of fantasy churches very loosely similar to Christianity because it acts more like a Stalinist personality cult that uses religious language than, um, a church. The strawman is just a bale in the middle of a field.

Reminds me of that SCP about an Earth-like planet of humans who are all infected with a parasite that makes them worship a beetle to the point that they implant multiple members of the species in their bodies, and even did it with newborn infants before they found out how old a person had to be to be able to be implanted without instantly dying. Then at the end of the article, it turns out that the parasite is actually intelligent and exists as a hive mind inside of every infected creature, and it can fully take over their bodies at will.
The author claimed it was a metaphor for capitalism, when it literally describes a completely collectivist society that subsumes the will of the individual in favor of the entire race putting all of their resources towards worshiping an insect.
Coincidentally, the author's username is "Communism will win." I'm pretty sure they got booted off the site for being a sex pest like the Jack Bright admin, but I'm not positive.

This is literally that one Rick and Morty episode about the mindcontrolling green vomit coming together as one entity, pretty sure its based off something else given how common this trope is.
It would be an interesting and groundbreaking concept if not for Sonic.exe and its gay reiterations (Needlem0use, Sonic.EYX, Sally.exe), all .exe versions of every videogame/cartoon character there is and countless ARG slop overusing the VHS filter, always going for the PS1 aesthetics.
Unfortunately, in post-Sonic.exe era, this isn't something that would impress.

The trouble is, almost any creation in the indie sphere of animation, artwork, or game creation inevitably ends up getting infested with troons or their creators end up trooning-out.

People are bringing up the scene where Jax says faggot again and man, it's crazy that it took 3 years to do a trope that The Departed did within like the first 10 minutes of the movie.
Not to go on too spergy of an unrelated tangent here, but in The Departed a lot of people theorize that Matt Damon's character, Colin, was gay, and got molested as a kid when he was an altar boy, which is why he calls the firemen homos and queers in the beginning of the movie.
Obviously comparing Gooseworx to Scorcese is insane but my point here is that in the Departed this is added in the beginning of the movie to forshadow what might be up with Colin. In TADC, Goose added it in the last episode of the show so they can remind people it isn't for babies. Like it doesn't even feel like it was planned until really late into the development of the finale. I'm only pointing this out because it felt weird and shoe-horned in and the Departed was the closest comparison I could think of off the top of my head.
There's enough unanswered questions and unexplored concepts in Digital Circus that you could practically make a whole other show with them. Which isn't necessarily a bad idea.
