The Amazing Digital Circus - Western Isekai that probably will become Hazbin Hotel killer
It's funny how they used that specific Stevie Wonder song, like they could've picked any other of his songs, or any other song in GENERAL, but they use the song that was meant as a dedication to a man's daughter, and try to turn it into some tranny representation bullshit. I'm speechless.
The only person that actually went through a "proper arc" is Jax, and I can argue it's just mediocre instead of the touching and heartbreaking story it's meant to be, 5 episodes of being the wacky asshole, then crashed out at 6, almost dies in 7, and becomes irrelevant for a bit, dies, and has his backstory revealed, what it's trying to get across is a warning of how being a deliberate prick and denying your real feelings (insert trans interpretation here) will inevitably destroy yourself and everyone else around you, but the problem is that the runtime allotted really weirdly, Episode 5, 6 and are the only ones where he actually demonstrated his development, and outside of those episodes, he's leans closer to a supporting character in the show he plays the co-lead on, yes, I AM arguing that Jax should have gotten more screentime and prominence needed to further improve his story, he's the main thing the writer focused, why not go all in?
The whole thing was barely serviceable for a webtoon. Certainly nowhere near quality enough for cinema release, even in this woeful modern era of hackneyed, lazy millennial writing. Jax's whole arc and "back story", given what we know about troons now, is predictable, cliché, and lazy. Boy grows up in a family where he feels he doesn't get enough love and attention (probably because his parents both work their ass off to provide the best life for him that they're able to, have realistic expectations of him, and are too tired to deal with his drama and attention-seeking bullshit.) Parents are both stressed, tired, and realize they're making each other miserable, so the divorce. Jax, being a selfish narcissist who feels like he's not being told how special and amazing he is as often as he wants, begins acting out, behaving like a little shit, takes everything out on his poor mother, and does everything he can to make life miserable for her. Whenever she stands up for herself or has expectations of Jax (maintaining passing grades, keeping his room clean, taking a fucking shower and washing his smelly balls), Jax plays the victim and tells everyone his mother is so abusive and cruel.
One night, probably after a long day at work for his mother, they get into a big blow-out in which Jax lets slip that he gets off to dressing in drag, wishes he was a girl, or maybe even confesses to being a troon. His mother, stunned, says some things she doesn't mean, but ultimately realizes her son is confused and hurting. So in her love, she hugs him to show understanding and that she still loves him. But Jax is a narcissistic little shit. He doesn't want understanding and love. He selfishly wants to keep fighting, to hurt his mother like he's hurting. So he shoves her HARD. She trips over backwards and hits her head. At best, she's knocked out. At worst, she's brain damaged or dead. Does Jax check to see if she's OK? To see if she's bleeding or if her neck is broken? Does he run to the neighbors or call EMS to help? Of course not. He runs away from his problems like the selfish coward he is. And because of his own shitty choices, he ends up on the streets homeless. And years later, when he confesses this all to frog chick, he spins everything to seem like he's a victim, painting himself in the most sympathetic light possible.
How many trannies do we have threads on with almost this exact same "back story"? Most of them? Like I said, it's fucking cliché at this point given what we know about troons these days. They fuck up their own lives through their own choices, push away their families, abuse everyone around them, and then cry on social media about how they're really the victim, and their families were the abusive ones, and how it's everyone ELSE who mistreated them for no reason.
Yep, it's why I've given up the hope for the initial plot. Jax being a full Troon allegory in episode 9 is just the cherry on top, but it's just still a bunch of problems even before then.
I enjoyed the show, I just don't like the rabid trannies trying to claim some character or another for themselves. They tried to do it with Pomni back during the early episodes.
Wasn't it revealed that Caine has the ability to mess with the cast's brain scans and change stuff about them? Isn't that why Jax is a vegan? So then how much can we as the audience know what is really each of the character's own choices and what is Caine messing with their files?

What's interesting here is that Goose KNOWS this and even lampshades it later in ep9 when after the big hair ribbon night and Jax jumping back in the closet, Ribbit tries to talk to him about it the next day and his response is "what, that hackneyed back-story right out of a Hallmark movie that I spun? You know that wasn't real, right??"
If Goosetroon was hoping to make a trans character who is sympathetic and relatable to normal people, they failed miserably and instead made a fucking stereotype. THE tranny stereotype. Must be humiliating for him.

Sadly his elementary and middle school aged fanbase don't and won't understand this, because like Goose, they're in the "FUK U MOM AND DAD, YOU DON'T KNOW THE REAL ME" phase where their brains aren't totally wired for empathy yet so they don't entirely see Jax being a raging asshole to be that bad because he abstracted in the end and was insecure.
But the kids have the excuse of being children with still developing grey matter. Cooper is a 31 year old man.
Basically trying to be indie Family Guy, huh? Where most of their humor, especially in the cutaways, is to basically poke fun at something the writer doesnt like at best or even has a seething hatred for at worst with the subtlety of a leftist meme.
"Oh we are not like those OTHER Indie shows!"
"Okay, what you got then?"
"I told you, that we are totally not like those other indie shows!"
The whole thing looks like the snuggle struggle child of Eddsworld, Family Guy and Ctrl alt del (the abortion meme webcomic)
my nigga just from looking at the trailer and first episode you could tell it was a boring tranny web show made by a misogynistic man with some nasty ass porn fetish. if you want horror watch a black tubi movie.
I know there's no chance this will ever happen, but it would be fucking hysterical if, after all the Wikis have finished updating their Jax pronouns, Cooper just went, "Yeah, I was totally bullshitting about Jax being trans. Ribbit giving him her bow was her being flirty, not her reading him as a troon. The personal thing he told his mom was that he wanted to go to art school. He 100% killed her and got away with it. Also, I'm not trans, either. I've just been lying to all of you to see how easily you'd make excuses for an objectively horrible person if I said he wanted to cut his dick off."
It was brought to my attention that this show existed through a headline claiming "Indie movie makes 62 million (or some shit) dollars opening weekend"
I was thinking "Huh, a crazy circus flick, okay. Neat lets watch an episode a day to the movie release on YouTube. Free is free right?
Ep 1: Alright, was fun-ish. Interesting. Caine is a bit annoying but whatever, its the pilot.
Ep 2: Okay, Gummygoo is interesting, oh nvm he's dead. Why? What's the point? NPC's cant hang around why? Oh were never bringing this up again?
Ep 3: Kinger is kind of based. I like the implication that was going on here. But again, its a adventure on Caines end so this is all about Caine huh, He's running the show. So he's gonna do something like wild right?
Ep 4: Burgers. Gummygoo bait. Bet they sold tons of merch with that. Fuck Glitch.
Ep 5: I think something was so post to have an arc here but nobody has any arcs. Cant have one as far as they could throw a piece of paper. Evil Jax is irl Gooseworx.
Ep 6: Fortnite. Jax is a big dick.
Ep 7: Oh cool, character development of some caliber. Abel seems like a fuckin cool character in a sense. What a letdown that was, I was hoping that they'd get a peak of what's going on in the big picture but I was eager for 8. It ended well enough.
Ep 8: Wow, this is picking up immensely! Caine is becoming my favorite! I have so many questions! Caine is dead? Its even confirmed by Gooseworx? Whoa! What the fuck is happening to the circus? Is it going to wind up like "I have no mouth and i must scream?"
To say the movie was rough is a understatement. I actually felt betrayed. I invested pretty good time to chew and mull over the characters, especially as of episode 6 and on and I was like "Something massive is going to happen, its going to be like just below evangelion levels of fucked" Nah. I was actually betrayed. It never occurred in my head that Jax was a troon. Jax was just a piece of shit, period. That part with the bedroom and Ribbit? That's fuckin gf/bf shit putting bows on each other and painting nails and shit, doing stuff like that. I wonder if gooseworx actually had a relationship. I cant be fucked to look into it because they don't respect my time.
So many loose ends. So many inconsistencies. Fuck, Have the blue ai whatever (Is it Bubble? Abel? Did I miss this somewhere?) Caine throws away find Abel in the void, infect him, develop a vile depth of hatred for Caine and just abstract right there in the void, threatening to swallow the whole space and time of the HDD, directly threatening the circus. Make the movie have stakes, stakes that were set episodes ago in the show! I don't even write and I feel more capable in doing something better. What a waste of fucking character potential, all of them. I loved their designs for the most part. I could go on, but it don't matter, none of this matters.
I'm flabbergasted they bent knee at the community to proclaim Jax trans when it's clearly a marketing tactic. Fuck me dude, where did all the good media go? Ghost In The Shell anybody?
I didn't pay a fuckin cent but I spent something way more valuable than money and that was time on this waste of space that now sits in a part of my brain of what could have been.
The only thing that will save this series in the long run and keep it going like the tf2 community is all the cancerous fan theory's, universes, stories and animations that will indebtedly spew from this. Gooseworx makes millions while making pro trans shit that will allure some kids into killing themselves going down a really bad path.
Maybe the real circus was the troons along the way.
This is only tangentially related to Jax, but I find it odd that he intentionally gave Gangle a demeaning name, and everyone just accepted it. I can understand Caine taking Jax's suggection literally, but nobody even thought to correct him or ask him to give her a different name.

Understatement of the century when it comes to this guy. I wish he just stuck to skits. Times must be tough, though, because he's starting to do those again.
