The Amazing Digital Circus - Western Isekai that probably will become Hazbin Hotel killer
Still, extremely funny to name yourself after a male character when pooning out, and then the male character becomes female (as far as the spaces this person no doubt resides in believes, at least)
Jax is the only character that needs to atone for something and has already demonstrated a desire to stay, so he'll be the sacrifice.
Although another trans-friendly outcome is that they are trapped forever in a false world, but it's okay because what's really real in life is you - the individual - and you can live, laugh, and love in a simulation just as easy as irl, silly goose. A lot of trans/secular ideas tend to bend backwards into pseudo-Christianity at times and 'you're here to grow as a person' is a corruption of 'the sojourn on Earth refines your soul.' So it has that element of truth that feels vaguely satisfying.
It doesn't help that PPP and Andy are legitimately stupid people, I tried listening to their reaction and I couldn't last five minutes, hearing PPP pretend he's an intelligent and articulate critic was so goddamn annoying, the guy has zero clue or insight into what makes art good or bad. He's not wrong when he's screaming about TADC being cringe gay shit but it's also painfully clear he's unable to articulate a pointed critique beyond that. It's like hearing a very stupid and tasteless person talk about how bad an objectively shit movie is, you can see what they're saying but you can also tell they have zero understanding of what makes something well written, composed, directed, etc. Basically what I'm saying is watching PPP critique art is like watching a fatter louder version of Ralph Sepe.
PPP is just mad for the sake of being mad and isn't actually watching the show so his commentary is meaningless generic statements. Andy, dispite being an annoying retard, would have been a way better cohost for this, simply because he would actually watch the show and actually talk to Josh about it.
clown world a horrifying hub of debauchery, in fact it produced 78% of the worlds animated tranny porn it was that bad. it looked like if you ate a ton of skittles and vomited onto a canvas. teeth man ran the joint a guy who looked like a toy you'd see at the dentist, his voice and mannerisms were so annoying and grating it could make a monk kill himself. he had several lackeys clussy some dumbass coward clown chick who was his personal sex slave, some retarded pink rabbit who was his tranny sex slave and enforcer of his orwellian rules because teeth man was a horrible despot, chess dude he looked like a rook or something and was the lead animator for all the animated troon porn... yuck. they're were others like dolly, ribbons and shapes but they were all killed because they were annoying and added nothing to his dictatorship, he left there heads on pikes to remind the denizens to behave in clown world or else.
one day a portal opened up signifying new arrivals to clown world, more slaves to grease the machine that is clown world. usually the new arrivals to clown world looked like dumbass mcdonalds toys but this guy was different. he was wearing a badass leather jacket and cool aviator glasses, he had a well groomed beard and was fucking jacked. his name was fishnumm, "welcome to clown world slave hope your prepared for adventures that are ripoffs of better media!" teeth man bellowed "damn you're ugly and your shit's all retarded nigger" fishnumm snapped back "BAD LANGUAGE ISNT ALLOWED IN CLOWN WORLD SLAVE YOU MUST BE PUNISHED" teeth guy yelled fishnumm laughed and took a drag from a cigarillo "fuck you i'll say what i want im a goddamned american" fishnumm replied before teeth man could get another moronic word in edge wise fishnumm pulled out his colt python revolver and quickly put a .357 magnum round through teeth mans brain leaving teeth fragments and brain chunks flying everywhere.
"NOOOO!" clussy and rabbit let out they were to loyle to teeth man. fishnumm put a bullet between each of there eyes leaving their corpses for the buzzards. he saw chess man drawing sicko tranny porn and covered him in gasoline. he pulled out another cigarillo and took a puff then he threw it at chess dude lighting him on fire his screams making fishnumm smile with delight.
fishnumm became the benevolent ruler of clown world purging all the sickos from his realm. he had a ton of hot chicks that he treated well because he respected women unlikes the sicko teeth man who raped all of the citizens of clown world because he was an awful wicked degenerate unlike the wise and kickass fishnumm.
It's frustrating a lot of the Digital Circus background isn't explained. Kinger was brainscanned as an employee of the company, Pomni discovered the brain scanner while urban exploring - feasibly if Jax was homeless he may have also entered an abandoned office. But how did all these other very different people end up getting brainscanned? Nothing about Ragatha, Zooble or Gangle indicates they'd either go to a brain scan company or explore an abandoned building. I understand the point of the finale was probably along the lines of "it doesn't matter how they got there" but it's immensely unsatisfying.
Why wasn't Caine deleted? There's no real explanation there. We're starting from the point of "it turns out he wasn't deleted" but there's no hint or indication (beyond the circus becoming colourful immediately before, which is unremarked upon) that the deletion was unsuccessful or why, he just got temporarily banished to the void. I can accept that being out in the void meant for the first time in a long time, he became aware of wifi and could access it, and also that this gave him the wherewithal to remove Abel. But what does it really mean? He goes from A.M. to a poor little baby who feels bad. The idea that seems to be getting signalled from his eye flashes that it was the influence of Abel that corrupted him, but that's at odds with his origin as the AI that consumed Abel. Removing Abel suddenly resolves Caine. It'd have been more impactful if he'd deleted himself properly to free Abel, a sacrifice to allow the humans he feels guilty about to have a benevolent AI that he'd otherwise suppressed. Instead he turns up and for apparently no reason all the characters pretty much immediately forgive and trust Caine despite the fact he'd been torturing them. He says "I no longer have the powers I did" yet somehow is able to maintain all his adventure worlds fully open at the same time (with no payoff re: Gummigoo).
Jax's redemption was non existent but treated like it was completed. He was secretly transgender, and had established that telling his mother lead to mockery and humiliation, so pushed Ribbit away once she worked it out and then acted hostile to anyone trying to get close to him. His outer level defense mechanisms were still nasty to others (and weirdly hitting on Gangle and being sexist). Even when Pomni breaks through to his "real" self, it effectively boils down to "I am a horrible person who deserves to be left alone, stop trying to connect to me", "I love you anyway Jax". It's not really remorse for any of his actions besides shoving his mother, and possibly Pomni - it's treated as if "Jax is trans, so has a lot of inner turmoil and is mean to protect himself" just absolves all his actions. There's then no payoff for that interminable psychoanalysis - he remains abstracted. So if he was just already gone forever, what was the point of that entire scene? Pomni says something along the lines of "I wish I'd pried more" when he first abstracts, but Jax was continually hostile to anyone who pried, to the point of initially strangling Pomni for trying to rescue him from abstraction.
If the moral of the story is "a stagnant life can be ok", why show all the characters in the real world, with their real selves all somehow having grown and changed positively? Literally every character had improved. If Ragatha was still under her mother's thumb and miserable, or Gangle had never woken up from a coma, or Zooble had any plot other than "I opened a hip happening gay cocktail bar" then that point might have hit home, but clearly all the real people somehow had happy endings and became better versions of themselves than the ones in the circus.
I get the impression that the showrunners had the broad strokes of the show, and rather than putting any thought into how the show would properly end they focused exclusively on the "everyone goes on an adventure" episode, then had to sloppily rush to create a script for the finale. It makes the gestures of a finale with payoff but it falls apart with the mildest scrutiny.
In case anyone is clinging to a last shred of hope that Jax wasn't a tranny. The 'Ms. Man' trope of putting a bow on the head is an old and enduring one whenever the character's sex is otherwise ambiguous.
Funny part is this is too little too late bc 90% of the tadc audience already moved on 2 weeks ago after seeing the finale and forming their own interpretation. Most people arent exactly on the lookout of cast social media-only confirmations anymore this long after actually seeing it.
Especially with it getting leaked. After first the leaks and then the theatre release, most that people wanted to discuss has already been discussed 0.5-1 months ago, the conversation was fully dead by the time the online release rolled out and as far as I see it didnt revive it much either.
All this did is placate the megafans who already were playing pronoun police anyways, while the average viewer is too busy dicking around with male jax in fortnite to be stalking the vas comment history.
I guarantee you it's because they're legitimately >12 and because goose is a tranny and woke and ticks the correct boxes, everything he makes must be good. That's how brainwashed they are.
I don't get the takeaway that Leeroy killed/seriously incapacitated his mom. The way it's described, Leeroy didn't seem like a violent person (ironic due to his later actions in the digital circus as Jax) and more so pushed his mom out of desperation rather than any real intent to harm her. To me it seems more like his mom was in shock from being pushed down and Leeroy just ran off before she could get up. Also I view the bow scene as Ribbit making Jax feel seen by giving him her bow to physically show him that she supports him after verbally stating as such. If she was wearing a hat and gave it to him or just hugged him, he would have likely reacted the same way.
I've done it with vizieslop and its much funnier because there are far more interesting aspects about the concept of hell, paradise and demons.
Its a well that virtually never dries out, people simply cannot stop pulling the same 2 fucking ideas out of it (angels bad, God left) so they make it look bad as result.
Virtual reality and artificial intelligence ain't as interesting as a topic, or rather they has been milked far more than you think and regard long-running ones, it raises more questions than answers.
Looking back, I feel like the worst thing the finale did was leaving completely undisclosed the origin of the circus, and leaving behind how people got brainscanned to begin with.
Mindscanning and generating a fully sentient AI would make for experimental government tech and even find use in espionage, at the very least I wouldn't have made the chess guy and his nigger wife alive to begin with, their origin story explored, sure, just not disclose what happened to then.
But HEY, we really FUCKING NEED to know about this insufferable trabbyt asshole and get to redeem caine so, no cool shit for you, just a nonsensical dive into the brain of this fuckass that makes no sense, a flashback to introduce us all to a character who clearly was voiced by another fucking tranny, 10 billion annoying static interruptions that do nothing but shout "THIS IS TRAUMATIC AND ABSTRACTION WOOO!!!" and no resolution on if that faggot killed or no his mom.
I don't really think goosework deserved the hatred from fans, I think he deserved worse and he should kill himself.
Finally watched the episode just now. I avoided all video spoilers and just stuck to text spoilers and reading posts here, so that at least the watching experience would be fresh for me.
This thing was rushed man. There's some things that I like but I'm thoroughly mixed and dislike a lot in general.
I apreciate that Pomni and Kinger immediately focused on fixing the circus and doing anything else other than be miserable, despite them not even being real. And everyone else slowly started helping out. It's powerful; to find meaning in life even when everything seems pointless is relatable to nearly everybody.
But, the episode immediately goes to shit with Jax, he just abstracts out of nowhere. It wasn't any of the other cast, but him specifically, but only after apparent days since they "killed" Caine. Why only then? The most miserable of the group, Ragatha and Gangle, might as well have gone first, considering they both have varying issues (Ragatha in particular with her mommy issues) AND considering the abuse by Jax, especially on Ragatha since she has had to deal with it more than Gangle.
I kind of like that Jax abstracting is a sudden, unannounced event, but yet I know it sucks because there's no clear indication that he's getting worse mentally.
I like the Pomni/Ragatha hug scene, it's sweet, but I kept laughing thinking about that meme of Pomni keeping abstracted Jax on a leash, saying to Ragatha "by purpose of elimination you are my new best friend Ragatha!!". (if anybody has that image I would appreciate it it's mad funny)
Then we have the literal 15-minute Jax therapy sesh that nobody really wanted. I'm watching Pomni in the black room with all the Jax doors and I'm getting a vivid image in my head:
This nigga Cooper played Omori and maybe Yume Nikki and he really really REALLY wanted to do something cool with mind-space doors leading to mental allegories/allusions.
Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Omori, Yume Nikki and some other Earthbound derivatives. But this mindscape thing was vapid. It mostly only served to show all his erroneous mental images of everybody that he keeps up (Pomni manipulating him saying only she can fix him, Zooble being just an angry dyke (that's not far from the truth tbh), Gangle being a weird sex freak(?)). Why didn't cooper add images for Ragatha and Kinger? A Ragatha one would be interesting, even if I found these rooms to be mostly a waste of time. A direct confrontation between Pomni and one/multiple personifications of Jax and his emotions would have been much more interesting. I think YIIK did something more interesting near the ending, where the protagonist has to fight personifications of his "sins", even if the entire game was hot garbage.
The Jax/Ribbit/Kaufmo backstory was all nice, even if Jax's mommy issues are just silly. The backstory then suddenly goes to shit when Ribbit puts the bow on Jax's head. Everything during and immediately after was shit and I am filled with questions:
Why is this dude blushing? There's no need for weird trans allusions here Cooper you fucking weirdo. Just have Jax say "Nah, keep it Ribbit it looks way better on you." and retcon the entire bullshit afterwards.
Why does he aggressively cut off this literal angel of a woman that only wants to love and be loved by him?
Who the fuck let Cooper give Ribbit "mother-bearing hips" as a certain Armenian man would say? She looks like this when she turns away, but green instead:
As somebody pointed out in this thread, why does Ribbit dump all of her emotional stability on Jax instead of seeking support from Kaufmo, Ragatha and Kinger? They're all clearly good people and would notice that Jax is off and Ribbit is depressed.
I could go on. The entire Jax backstory up to Ribbit abstracting is ass. It had all the markings of a seemingly perfect relationship that would make them two mentally-strong characters, but Jax decides that actually this is all stupid and gay fuck you Ribbit, bish.
Anyway everything else is OK I guess. I can't get over that Kinger manually deleted Caine in the clearly Linux-inspired terminal, which would actually wipe Caine's file(s). But instead, it's actually just like hitting the Delete key on Windows, where the files just go to the Recycle Bin... I guess. But hey I'm a Linux sperg, so whatever.
Caine tossing the blue AI aside into the void, without any sort of resistance, is just bad. So the blue AI doesn't have any agency or autonomy? That was just bad, IDK. I'd have the both of them come to terms, and maybe the blue AI would cooperate with Caine in the background, I wouldn't just have Caine produce the blue AI again, to just store it on a pedestal in some furniture.
I can't help but really like that Caine feels remorseful, and when approaching the cast, he floats much lower to the ground. Not much to say here, I just think it was a nice touch.
Caine accessing free wifi from some kebab shop is funny, and I enjoyed the cast being shown who they are IRL. However, this scene was too positive and too brief. Imagine if someone of the cast such as Zooble, in real life, was dead. That would make for a much more interesting scene... but it would a lot more screen time.
The ending is not good. Here's a question for everybody: What is the message?
This show does not give a proper message in the ending. Our cast sees through a screen a world that they cannot reach anymore, where their IRL counterparts are alive and thriving and living full lives, while they are in a virtual prison for possible eternity. So, what is the point of them fixing up the circus and asking Caine to go on wacky adventures forever?
The optimist in me thinks the message is "to foster a great and fantastical world for us and for any one unfortunate who may put on the headset in the future", but at no point does anybody talk about future victims. The pessimist (realist?) in me thinks "Cooper, the estrogen-popping troon that wants to draw women being drilled into their skulls, does not have the maturity or wisdom to think further ahead than a couple of weeks from now. There is no message, it's just shallow feel-good nihilism".
I think Cooper once said the show's message is "to find meaning even in something hopeless", but I struggle to understand what the "meaning" is, here. If these brain scans are suffering or not does not change the fact the IRL counterparts are living some other way.
So to conclude, this last episode should have been 3-4 episodes with proper pacing. Cooper should have really gotten a co-writer or advisor, because this whole show became shallow, episodic collection of therapy seshes losing a lot of intrigue. Jax's entire situation could have been an arc with a proper conclusion, instead of him hijacking the protagonist for screen-time to just abstract without any sort of resolution. Why didn't anybody create file backups of the fucking brain scans?
Thanks to everyone who read these insane ramblings. Perhaps I could have structured this review better but man I needed to get these thoughts into writing. The show had quite a bit of potential and it fumbled everything beyond belief.
Whoever said that it only makes sense that Kinger, Jax and Pomni are in the circus and that it makes no sense for the others to be there.
Yeah?
They're the main characters and the only ones with any narrative importance (This is shit writing btw).
the other bunch are quite literally just given all the importance of recurring side NPCs, How they got into the circus doesn't fucking matter to Noose because those characters don't matter. It could've been revealed that they were all just Human LARP NPCs Caine cooked up to be more interesting and it would've been more interesting.
Now THAT would've been a twist, that abstraction only happens to NPCs or something as they were all originally based on edits of Scratch the tumorman's brainscans. (Would've also amped up the psychological horror to "existent" rather than "baby mode")
This would also go a long way to explain why Jax, Pomni and Kinger all basically have special powers the others don't. Jax has his keys, Kinger can do whatever the fuck, and Pomni can make the exit door appear.
Would also go a long way to explain why Kinger went crazy the way he did, too. At some point he figured out that everyone except him was fake, even the recreation of his wife was based on Scratch's memories of her or some shit.
Maybe I'm putting too much thought into troonic voreslop.
