In another review someone pointed out that the flashbangs were seen randomly in the Hall in episode 5... so it was yet another happenstance item that decided the outcome. It was basically contrivance to contrivance when anything happened with the characters basically putting no effort to make an actual choice. The other character didn't set up a trap for Jax to pull Pomni out, they just randomly had a leash of Zooble arms to grapple her out as they came around the corner just as Jax stepped on the random flashbang.

Considering a flashbang is the opposite of Darkness, it's not like Pomni waited until he was in that corner intentionally, all it would possibly do is upset him.

Good thing that passing food truck cafe happened to randomly be in the right spot when Caine needed 15 seconds of wifi... or is it the building next door that just randomly let him have a signal and it will come back? I mean you think if there was the super abandoned mindlab of evil right next to an active coffeeshop it would get more traction. That's convenient.

Seriously, the characters were there just to do nothing but be set dressing to the backstory dump of Jax and then Caine decides being dead sucks, and that annoys me as someone who expects the bare minimum of basic story structure. You can tell it's human slop, because AI could write a better ending since it would have at least employed a story structure.

Even so, it doesn't matter. Doug could give actual pointers on what made the movie fall flat and the comments will still be full of people overly praising it with maybe super minimal criticism. Hardly anyone (outside of here) wants to criticize the faux-Disney studio. It's pure praise all around. The fact I have to come here or spend several minutes unearthing into Youtube/Tumblr/Twitter/Reddit to find even the slightest negative criticism of it that wasn't 98% praising (or people mass disliking any video/tweet/reddit thread that's more negative than positive of the movie) is actually giving me a headache.

Almost no one wants to bring up the flaws of the movie and the overall show and acts like everything made sense and is hunky dorky. We're getting teenagers and manchildren calling themselves high-profile media literates for this show because of what they assume and not what the show actually shows.

Bringing up flaws for the Disney-like conglomerate is BAD, mmkay? You WILL buy the merchandise that'll be in landfills within the next half decade! You WILL never criticize the faults of this studio and the things they practice that only lowers the standards of indie shows by prioritizing visuals and fan service over actual, memorable writing and characterization that'll be remebered for years or decades to come!

Disney this, disney that, but that company will at least have long lasting memories of their ((good)) movies and shows from the past. What even will any of Glitch's indie shows be remembered for (that isn't porn, how attractive the characters are, the crazy fandom within that show, etc) in half a decade or longer?

What impact will they have in the industry that isn't just doing the very thing they criticize the general corporations for doing? Will they only revolutionize the terminally online? Can anyone even tell me of any indie show that actually contains good writing and not just "gorgeous animation and visuals"?

My personal grievance with both the character designs and the environment design is that it looks like it's from a baby preschool show, even though the show is supposed to be "mature".

A lot of people seem to be missing that it's supposed to be a parody of old kids games, look up Spacekids for an example.



It's not childish looking for no reason or to intentionally attract kids (could be optimistic here though cause this is a troon were talking about). Modern kids werent even alive for that era, it's mostly late millenials and early zoomers.

But I can see why people don't get this, because while they started off strong with the concept of the adventures and stuff like that and the title screen, it then seems to go off the deep end and abandons all that. Basically retconned it into not being a game at all, but just something caine created for fun and the whole thing was completely unintentional other than C&A making brainscans and an AI. So why make it a cartoony circus game at all and not just some generic digital world?

I hate that this show was mid because it had such potential. That's why I clung to it for so long despite it being troonslop, and managed to look past the therapy and new age shit shoehorned in because the core concept is interesting. "Old 3d PC game that actually is a place of horror that traps people inside" is interesting to a lot of people and unique. But it fumbled it so bad. The characters don't react to their circumstances realistically. There is 0 action in the finale. Abstraction was handled badly. It's all just set dressing that could be swapped for anything else in order to show the characters having their emotional masturbation sessions and cry for half the movie. Not saying there shouldn't be emotional scenes but they should be used sparingly because it gets rid of any sense of meaning when the characters finally break down and cry. And even Gangle's whole thing is the comedy and tragedy mask, but we almost NEVER see her with the comedy mask. The breaking it gag would work if it was in the middle of the episode after showing her with the other one to show the difference but it always breaks as soon as we see her and literally all she does for the rest of the show other than the fast food episode is just stand around and cry. The unique concept of the masks is completely lost because of it.

I know I sound like a sperg but I'm just sad it got fumbled so bad. Someone needs to remake it. I'm also saddened from how hard it fumbled. Sure it's another "cutesy thing that's actually.... D-DARK!?!?!?" kind of show but it had a premise that really could've sold a lot of people if it actually focused on not only the characters but the overall of about anything that was going on. I'm not asking for everything to be revealed but the worldbuilding, like with Viv's shows, is practically null and void.

We get nothing about C&A, we get nothing about Kinger and Caine's relationship, we get nothing about how Caine's programming even works. We know nothing about the past brainscans that once roamed the place (and no, the half-hearted memorial painting they did in the finale doesn't count. plus, I really doubt the first brainscans were the only one that came and then the main cast after.). None of the character's situations are resolved. All we get are therapy sessions and people crying. It's completely unsatisfying but the Glitch diehards don't care. They consume everything without thinking while still pretending they're intellectuals of "fine literature".

After watching the finale, I can understand if people are disappointed. The show had an interesting take of the "I have no mouth", but rushed the ending. It lingers on trauma without really diving into the circumstances the story presents. I am avoiding spoilers, but once the show had the hint of something interesting, it quickly "resolves" it.

Instead of presenting a living hell, it plops on a lukewarm purgatory. I didn't really care for the show, but I can see the potential it could of had. Like many have said, this needed a tard wrangler.

Hell I liked Jax, I thought he was a fun character, I know people say he's cliche but I just like trickster/funny asshole characters in general. At least I'm honest about my autism. But the final episode focused way too much on him. We already knew a lot of what they showed us. All they needed to show was like half of the Ribbit flashback to get the idea then focus on other things. Even Pomni, despite being the other main character, didn't get much development; she felt more like a plot device in the movie.
