Why spend millions of dollars to create a fake episode to be leaked for free alongside a second real version, when the animation studio could have used that funding to make two real episodes for double profits? Episode 9 could have done well by splitting it into two episodes so the plot points weren't so rushed.

Tbf I think its moreso that he just doesnt understand genres well and associates horror with jumpscares, suspense and gore and stuff. It feels like he remembered theres a difference between horrors and thrillers etc but then got confused on what actually defines each. Probably trying to be smart like 'erm not everything dark is horror' except his dumbass did it with a book that actually IS widely considered horror instead of just gothic tragedy or whatever.
IHNMAIMS is typically genre-tagged as dystopian/post-apocolyptic, scifi AND horror so I can see how he thinks its just the first 2 with a particularly bad ending. Forgivable mistake for the average person but not really a lack of knowledge you want from the director of your show about its main source material....
TADC is clearly TRYING to be an absurdist dark comedy-drama (like The Lobster tbh) but the absurdism is surface level, the comedy is unfunny, the drama not compelling and half of the darkness seems unintentional.
