fuck no. tf? Spaceghostpurrp and Raider Klan in general (2011) gave the genre an entirely new evolutionary sound that still persists to this day
I lterally just said most. Emphasis on most. Not "all." It's like whenever I mention that word, people assume that I was implying all.

Apparently, the 2023 Grammys are celebrating the 50th anniversary of the birth of hip-hop music

Artists set to perform (in alphabetical order) are: Big Boi, Busta Rhymes with Spliff Star, De La Soul, DJ Drama, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Missy Elliott, Future, GloRilla, Grandmaster Flash, Grandmaster Mele Mel & Scorpio/Ethiopian King, Ice-T, Lil Baby, Lil Wayne, The Lox, Method Man, Nelly, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, Rahiem, Rakim, RUN-DMC, Salt-N-Pepa and Spinderella, Scarface, Swizz Beatz, and Too $hort. LL Cool Jwill introduce the segment, perform and give a dedication to hip hop. Questlove will serve as producer and musical director, music will be provided by The Roots and Black Thought will narrate.
“For five decades, hip-hop has not only been a defining force in music, but a major influence on our culture,” said Harvey Mason jr., CEO of the Recording Academy. “Its contributions to art, fashion, sport, politics, and society cannot be overstated. I’m so proud that we are honoring it in such a spectacular way on the GRAMMY stage. It is just the beginning of our year-long celebration of this essential genre of music.”

Funny how you don’t see anniversaries being made for the likes of jazz, blues, folk and rock music.

So I have a question, I know everyone thinks he was one of the best MCs, and I won't dispute that since it's plainly obvious, but do you think Biggie got what he deserved or are at least ambivalent about what happened to him? I just did some research into the whole beef with Tupac, and I think it's pretty much 100 percent certain that Tupac was killed due to a hit that was placed on him by Biggie and that he even gave the gun to the crips that was used to kill him with.

Pretty fucked up thing to do over some stupid fucking beef. I mean plenty of rappers hate each other, but you never saw Kool Moe Dee and LL Cool J straight up trying to get each other murdered. Not that I'm saying that any kind of reprisal like that is a good thing, but I think Biggie belonged behind bars forever based on that information. It's too bad the retarded cops didn't care ab0ut solving these cases for public consumption, but I think it's plainly obvious that Biggie was behind Tupac's murder, and that his murder was some kind of reprisal by Suge Knight over the shooting in Las Vegas.

big if true

Just heard that Trugoy the Dove, founding member of De La Soul, has passed away yesterday. Most likely cause was heart disease. Always loved the album Stakes Is High, underrated imo.

Stakes Is High is underrated, but The Grind Date is even more underrated than that

I actually bought this album with my parents‘ money because I recognized the group, but this was before I ever found out about 3 Feet High and Rising and De La Soul Is Dead. Never would have expected a collaboration like this, if I’m being honest.

The Grind Date is okay, the Doom track being the best thing on it, but most of their later work is really middling with beats. They should have went back to Prince Paul but they apparently had some dumb secret beef with him they wouldn't even tell him about because they kept giving him the cold shoulder when he asked to work on another album with them. Which is stupid because they could have had a much better and bigger come back since Paul is one of the best in history. Kind of a stupid situation like the one between Guru and Preemo but not as heated.
