I reckon he may have wanted to start teaching people low-level programming. He was always keen to answer programming related questions and was usually pretty lucid about that. He remained informative even when he got heated and passionate I think a lot of people would appreciate being taught by him too.
Perhaps maybe they too would learn to write their own fuckin' compiler.
