A teenager was en route to an Indiana middle school Thursday to commit an act of violence, but police were able to stop him after receiving a tip, state police said.

The teen exchanged gunfire with police at Dennis Intermediate School in Richmond before killing himself, Indiana State Police Sgt. John Bowling told reporters, citing preliminary results of the investigation.
"Someone knew something, and they said something," the sergeant said, attributing the fact that no students were hurt to the tipster.
Richmond Community Schools received the tip and was able to notify police and put all of its schools on lockdown before the police or gunman arrived, district spokeswoman Bridget Hazelbaker said.

Bowling said it was unclear how many shots were fired or why the teen was targeting the middle school.
The suspect, a minor, was a former student in the district, Hazelbaker said. It was not clear which school he attended.
Students were transported to Richmond High School, about a mile away, and parents were told to pick them up at the adjacent Civic Hall Performing Arts Center, the district said.
Dennis Intermediate is in a residential neighborhood in the city of about 37,000. Richmond is near the Ohio border, about 70 miles east of Indianapolis.

I fully expect some pretentious cunt from some lefty rag to publish an article saying why the police are bad for doing this and we need to let in more illegals.

Richmond is a tiny, almost completely white, half rural community and poor af.

Gonna have to be incel edgecuck with permadry dick or a fivehead slow teen going to serve bully justice.

By
RICHMOND, IND. —
Indiana State Police report that a possible mass shooting was avoided this morning when law enforcement responded quickly to a tip that someone was threatening to shoot up an intermediate school in Richmond.

Authorities are expected to provide more details about what happened at a press conference later today.

What we know now
  • A teenager is reported dead after committing suicide with a gun inside Dennis Intermediate School in Richmond. No other students were reported injured.
  • Prior to the incident, Indiana State Police received a tip that the teen was threatening to bring a gun to the school and open fire
  • Dennis Intermediate was put on lockdown, meaning no one was allowed to enter or leave the school building
  • The armed teen showed up at the school at the same time law enforcement arrived
  • Despite the lockdown, the teen got inside the school building. Police cornered the suspect in a stairwell where the teen used the gun to commit suicide
  • All of the district’s 16 school buildings were put on lockdown until all students were accounted for and all buildings were reported safe and secure
  • Parents were advised to pick up their Dennis students at the Civic Hall Performing Arts Center, which is on Richmond High School’s campus
  • By 10 a.m., the district reported that normal operations had resumed in the district’s other schools.
  • Dennis Intermediate serves students in fifth through eighth grades. Dennis is one of three middle schools in Richmond Community Schools, which has an enrollment of 4,879

Weather is 41ºF, overcast with a chance of rain in Richmond; the area got some decent snowfall in November but it's melted today(possibly good to know for ease of travel on foot for shooter)

For euros, add 5 to any grade for an approx. student age; this school serves 10-13 yr olds.

Damn it, my business of selling bullet resistant vests to schoolchildren might be in danger if the cops keep doing their jobs...

He did worse than Asa Coon. At least Coon got IN the school before blowing his brains out.
This one made it in, but arrived same time as police and got cornered in a stairwell.

What happened
Bursten said police from multiple agencies were on the scene when the suspect, a 14-year-old boy who lived in the Richmond area, arrived armed. Police said the boy was not a student at Dennis.

Police confronted the suspect at the north door, but the teen shot out the glass of one of the school's locked doors to get inside the building.

Police pursued the suspect and there was another exchange of gunfire, officials said. It ended in the south stairwell on the second floor where the teen died from "an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound." No officers were injured and it has not been determined if the suspect was wounded by police.

Branum said that the school's lockdown likely saved lives, since the suspect could not enter classrooms.

Rachel Ventura, the parent of a sixth- and an eighth-grader at Dennis, expressed her frustration over the incident.

“I’m mad. I’m scared. The kids have been talking about this kid for a week,” she said. “They (administrators) look past things. They don’t think this is going to happen, and then it happens.”

Pam Sexton was dropping off her sixth-grader, Shaylon, just as the incident took place.

“It was terrifying. My daughter had just walked in, and I thought she would be a target in the hallway,” she said. “I’m still shaking. I can see it on the news, but it’s scary when it’s your own baby.”

Sexton texted her daughter and had to wait a few minutes before getting a reply back that she was safe. Sexton was still outside the school as her daughter was loaded onto a bus. The two were able to wave to each other.
Trying to find some sort of social media footprint for the kid, since other kids in the area were already aware of him being unhinged.

Peggy Lewis was in the area at the time of the incident and said she spoke to the suspect's father.

“He said, 'No I'm actually his father' and he was telling me how his son had been bullied and they took him out of school and they thought he was doing well. But he thinks he’s been planning this for a while," said Lewis. "He just said his son took all of his guns this morning and told him he didn’t take him, wherever, he said if he didn’t take him he was going to kill him too.”
Not quite sure what to make of that paragraph of Peggy retelling shit poorly. Grammar's all fucked.

Wait, did the dad drop his son off at school knowing his son was bringing guns? Did the dad call in the tip?
