I have a serious problem with, well, being addicted to technology. Internet, iPhone, Xbox 360/Nintendo, etc. I would veg out in front of a screen for hours and not give a shit if my arm got cut off. No no no, scratch that, I would be annoyed about it because it would distract me from my precious screen of death.
It all started back when I was 7 or 8 and got addicted to Neopets. And the disease has only gotten worse and worse over time. It has ruined my life, held me back mentally/emotionally and left me feeling like I'm only half-alive. I have had poor grades/health for years and difficulty maintaining relationships. I've recognized loooong long ago that I have a huge problem. I take baby steps and try to pull myself out of this stupor but I'm sucked in again and again.

It definitely doesn't help that I have easy access to my poisons. But I've been taking action to help myself. I don't use my iPhone anymore, it's been 2 months and I've noticed that I've gotten a lot better. But that only led to me going on the computer/Xbox instead...
So today I decided to put my games away and have my family put passwords on the computer accounts so I can't get in.

I really hope I'll be able to deal this time but if anyone has any tips they'd like to share or experiences with addiction and its effect on the human mind, then please feel free to comment.

There is no physiological component to your technology addiction. It's all in your head.
So this is all just whining. Stop whining.

I use technology a lot but I wouldn't say it is an addiction because I don't believe it causes me any negative effects. If it didn't exist I would probably be in the exact same scenario except for less knowledgeable so I probably would be a liberal since I would only see propaganda on TV and in Newspapers

I would suggest the easiest way to curb a dependency on technology is to think about what can be done to improve yourself/your life currently. Picking up hobbies, doing schoolwork, developing skills for a desired career, etc.

Though I think to some extent tech addiction is in close relation to one's own ability to self-control. Examining your habits to see if you display the same behaviour with multiple aspects of your life would be beneficial.

Just find a more physical hobby that still engages the same parts of the brain that are pleasured by using technology. I'd recommend model kits, but then my wallet would start screaming loudly and make desperate attempts to slap my hands away from the keyboard.

Find a physical sport that suits your fancy, try to travel if you can afford it, and broaden your scope of interest. Learn more about the world around you and find adventure when you can.

This is not the place to voice your audacious feels fests. If you need help there are other places. If you think your addicted on technology there are literal rehabs.

Hahahahahahahaha How The Fuck Is Technology Addiction Real Hahahaha Nigga Just Walk Away From The Screen Like Nigga Close Your Eyes Haha

I'm not trying to absolve myself of responsibility for my poor choices. Yes, I chose to go on the computer and waste my life away.
I have found it easier to realize when I have the urge to go on the Internet (oh how hypocritical I must sound right now) and distract myself with something else.
Aaaaand on that note, it is time for me to put. This. Phone. Down. It's not even mine, goddammit.
