I've noticed a weird bug: every time you reply to chat, the GIF avatars all get frozen until you refresh the page. Is it possible to fix this?

Thats functioning as intended, afaik.
I think I'm one of the people to blame for it, from forever ago, when a bunch of people used quasi-obnoxious gifs as their avatar.
