I miss juggling the conventional memory arround as well.
It was great twiddling around with it to shove DOS in high memory so there would be enough conventional memory to run some shitty game. Not really.

The Megaman Legacy Ports are not 1:1 NES ports.
They added a ton of stuff like Challenges and Timed Boss Rush modes.
Boss rush you have to kill all 48 bosses in under 30 minutes without dying. Challenge mode is equally a pain in the ass.
Neither of these added modes are fun. And it's not like I have not bought megaman collections in the past, I have Megaman Anniversary Collection and Megaman X Collection both for the PS2. But you blow through all 6 megaman NES games in a weekend they tend to blend together and you realize why the series was eventually put down.
The insane system requirements are due to that probably being the lowest spec machine that was around in capcom's office when the game was made.

If your not up to designing something from scratch making a clone of the ZX80/ZX81 seems to be a common design people go with for the z80. There are even PCB's and full kits available.
The more powerful and robust RC2014 platform is also very popular.
I miss VHS. It was a big part of my childhood. My uncle owned a video rental store and would let me take out movies for free. I worked there during the summer too.
I broke out some old VHS's to fire up the nostalgia but there is one thing I can't get over now with them. 4:3. Fucking with the aspect ratio or panoscan drives me nuts now. I just tossed all my main stream VHS and kept just a few gems.
The aspect ratio isn't really a problem on DVD so I still buy them. If someone wanted to get in to physical media right fucking now is the time. At swap meets and thrift store DVD's are near free now so I have been bulking up my collection for cheap money. Online places like secondspin are also nice. Everyone brought in to the streaming meme so they are just dumping their large DVD/BR collections for nothing.
Tech I hate is smartphones.

I'm really missing headphone ports being built into phones. It was really shitty of Apple to do that, because it means every other manufacturer had to copy them. Also, I really miss the older days of Android when most flagship brands had microSD slots and were easy to root. Now, the custom ROM scene is pretty fucking dead.
I have the deepest hate for internet of shit. One of these days, somebody's going to get their house burned down from the other side of the world because their oven had an unpatched ancient version of Linux. My house is already full of spying devices, I don't want my appliances to become them as well.

You can play your copy of Suikoden 5 through PCSX2. Pop the disk into a DVD or blu-ray drive, get the a PS2 bios, and figure out how to configure things just right. You can also get the iso somehow or rip the data off the disk.
Would prefer backwards compatibility. Love tinkering with things and learning the guts, but sometimes you just want to start up Rogue Galaxy right now.
Hopefully the PS5 is a step in the right direction. Doubt it, though. At my PS2 still works and my computers can handle emulating it.
The removal of PS1 compatibility was the most baffling thing about the PS4. That system can be emulated on almost anything these days. It could be emulated on just about everything when the PS4 came out. Sony has no excuse that isn't related to selling remasters and that retarded attempt at a nostalgia console.
They went from fairly good PS1 emulation to something worse than Bubsy 3D. Now I need some whiskey to drown my sorrows.
Capcom didn't develop the PC ports for DMC3 or RE4. Sourcenext did. They began to do the ports themselves after that. DMC4's port is amazing. The port for the special edition, for whatever reason, is a bit off in some places. It crashed way more than the original did for me. The original crashed 0 times. Nice job enhancing your game, guys.

Reminds me of the "Mighty Mouse" that I talked about in the Apple thread. The thing has side buttons that respond to the slightest pressure, so I'm always accidentally clicking from naturally holding the thing. No doubt the people at Apple thought it was "cool," when even the "hockey puck" mouse was less frustrating.
I think there's a trend of making technology infuriating to use on purpose. That or they think the frustration is "innovation."
Most people that I know in real life that use Apple Computers would rather use a cheap Logitech mouse than any Apple Mouse.

I don't miss the crazy prevalence of PHP
I'm pretty sure that most gaming mice are still wired because the people who buy them are concerned about input lag.

I feel bad for the hackers. It used to be as easy as putting malicious software in shit like limewire and simple injection attacks. Hell, hackers used to not have to worry about devs salting passwords. But now.. now hackers gotta put some effort in.

In trends that don't actually suck, I have a wired mid-range Logitech mouse where the middle wheel spins freely and it will keep spinning for about two minutes or so after you flick it. I haven't found any particular use for this but it's pretty neat. I suppose this has existed for a while but I've not had one.
