Hot Take: The TF2 comics were trash. Mediocre at best, brimstone at worst.
The decision to make the comics take place after the Gravel Wars and not during the Gravel Wars was so retarded. Why make the comics of your game take place after the most important event in the lore??
Half of the comics are just the mercs blindly following the purple lesbian collecting magical rocks for her abusive wife.
I also hate how Valve did jack shit with TF Industries in the lore.
I wish Valve stuck with the original storyline of RED and BLU both secretly controlling the world from behind the scenes.

The comics are a decently fun read if you don't treat them as canon (and you shouldn't, because they're not canon). I think the storyline and time in which they take place in is also fine. But the biggest flaws are how some of the mercs' characters were handled (Soldier especially) and how blatant the millennial writing gets at times.

I cant blame the comic for what started as typical mid 00s memes pushed by valve themselves

Saxton Hale (le manly aussie man)
Australium (le wacky)
Hats (le gentlemanne of leisure)
the mann bros (haha stupid)
mann co (le epic bacon manly company)
gravel (le random)

tf2 was far more interesting as a setting when the mercs were the colorful (but competent) end point of bureaucratic negotiation.
Making some of the mercs dumb rather than just cocky or crazy diminishes the fact that they are the best, hired to complete corporate sabotage.

I miss this tf2:

One idea I always thought would be interesting is seeing an ordinary person in this world end up on a game map. There's a lot of little offices and desks littered around the maps, so presumably people work in them most of the time. What happens if some guy doesn't get the memo, shows up to work and there's a match going on? Could he escape? Does he cower? What would the nine mercenaries do if they found him? Would they kill him? Would they torture him? Would they be very confused? Would he be treated like a living briefcase, protected by one team while the other tries to capture him?

Prior to the comics ruining everything (and I say this as someone who really enjoyed the final comic) with wizards, raccoons and the Yakuza TF2 had an interesting understated world that balanced cartoons logic with intrigue. It really tickled my conspiracy gland.

Would you rather have those extra frames at the cost of physics and gameplay stuff working in a very different way? We saw this with CS:GO how the game can completely change when it migrates to Source 2.
It was also thought that Metal Gear Solid 4 would be stuck on the PS3 forever (and other games I can't think of being stuck on their respective hardware or abandonware.), but here we are. An unfinished Duke Nukem Forever 2001 got leaked. Sonic Unleased got an unofficial PC port.

Would I trust Nu-Valve or troon mod makers not to fuck it up? Of course not, but I can dream.

All I want for Christmas is an engine rewrite or a source 2 re-release so the game isn't CPU bound to a single core so I can get an extra 200-300fps.

Hoppkins: "Should I be a faggot?"
Mastercoms' modification of the engine already solves the CPU bound part. Rewrites only ensure that Valve touches the code. As proven with CS2, they don't know shit about their older games and the only people that are actually interested in what they're doing are the Deadlock team (because it's the latest shiny new thing to get company bonuses from).

Mastercoms is the shit and trust me I've done everything. The problem is a lot of the things that give the game it's soul are CPU bound. I can live with turning off shadows, shaders, lighting, foliage, outlines, and render distance because the game isn't meant to be hyper realistic so it doesn't hurt the art style/game's feel that much.

Facial animations are CPU bound, but if you turn them off, the mercs give you the rape stare.

Ragdolls flying and gore are CPU bound, but I don't want enemies to disappear after they're dead and want to see the funny ragdolls go flying.

I used Direct X 8.1 because it disabled weapon skins and it was the only way to disable killstreak effects that made me lose 50-100 fps whenever I saw a player with glowing eyes. That no longer works as of the 64bit/vulkan update.

Granted, I am complaining about first world problems and want this shit to never dip on my 240hz monitor.

Última edición:
Good news Gamers! Want to crash a fucking server? Thanks to that retard who submitted the Spy disguise fix, there's a new server crashing exploit.

Said retard is currently trying to fix his fuckup, so who knows how long until it gets patched. Knowing Valve, probably 5 months.

edit: here is said retard who self-doxxed on his github profile:

Sean McGeehan

In Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, born and raised, getting beat up on the playground is how Sean spent most of his days. What's weird to me is how terrible his grasp of the English language seems to be in his Github comments, for someone from Pennsylvania. Maybe he's legitimately retarded?

That's all I could be fucked to find.
He's githubmaxxing for his portfolio, why would he not want his to be face there?

We saw this with CS:GO how the game can completely change when it migrates to Source 2.
It wasn't even a migration like DOTA 2, it's just straight up an entirely new CS game yet some people keep parroting this sentiment. Different name, new music, art direction / style, map redesigns, engine and all of the quirks that entails from it (people have been complaining endlessly about the game's feel and for the right reasons), fundamental aspects such as the movement acceleration, etc. The problem is that it literally replaced CS:GO instead of being released under it's own app ID advertised as the next sequel and it took 2.5 years for CS:GO to make a somewhat proper return away from it's beta tab slumber under a new app ID.

It's still insane to me how terribly they've treated what was their second most profitable entity and it's legacy. It took a single day for it to be effectively gone... like tears in rain.

Honestly, for TF2, I think a CS2-style reboot would be a good thing. Cull all but 15 maps. Strip the game down to the best content that people actually play, and start releasing updates again. Won't ever happen so its utterly pointless talking about.

Slight :politisperg:, but I’m convinced that the modern TF2 community only hates Scout because he’s the closest thing the main cast has to a heckin’ sexist chud. There’s a positive correlation between how left-wing a SFM/GMod-tuber is and how much Scout abuse they cram into their videos.
no i hate scout because most "people" who play as him look and act like this

>Gravel Pit
>BLU team's main goal is to capture points A and B before being able to capture point C
>Upon arriving on point C, the players are met with the sight of a massive laser cannon device on the top of the tower
>The big picture is perfectly clear. BLU wants to take over RED's laser gun for themselves, further reinforcing the basic spy film parody of huge organizations fighting over of weapons of mass destruction
>TF2 fans: LOL, they're fighting over useless gravel! XDDDDDDDDDDD!!!!!!

I don't think the game is meant to have any serious plot and is just supposed to be fun to play

I want to strangle the faggot that thought subtick was a smart fucking idea.

Its sad that so far, Escape From Tarkov, is the only game to itch that "you're a contractor of a PMC hired to do some heinous bureaucratic shit", but its more tactical aesthetics than say TF2's colorful world.

Im pretty sure if that Adult Swim TF2 show went live, the comics' influence would have gone even worse than what we have right now.
