This is basic stuff for special needs parents. Does he go to a really bad school or something? I dearly hope they don’t pull him out of school with a mother like that.

It seems to be common for the more extreme autists not to know their own strength. A relative of mine had a baby when she was ancient, and he has fairly serious autism. She managed him pretty well when he was small, but, once he was a teenager, he started (often unintentionally) wrecking shit. I personally witnessed him put his fist through a door, and, these days, their house is in shambles. She doesn't bother fixing anything unless it's vital for the house because she knows he'll destroy it eventually.

I worry what's going to happen to him when she dies. She's in her 70s already.

I don't think she has bothered to do any of the basics. She says that the school keeps pushing back the IEP meeting. Either the kid is in the worst school ever or mom is making excuses. Not sure how old the kid is but she says that he doesn't understand consequences for his actions.
 
Do legitimate spuds like the Hooligans even have to attend school? They're really only children in name. I know it's not the same but I remember watching a tv special about the girl named brooke who was literally locked into infancy for the entire 18-19 years of her life still had to go to school despite the fact she had the brain capacity (and size) of like a one year old. She could laugh, cry, and smile but that's it.

At least controlling her was easy on the wranglers.

Hooligans waste LARGE amounts of resources going to school to stare into space
 
I know someone personally who has two autistic children. The boy is extremely low functioning and nonverbal. He’s 12 now and he’s large...I don’t mean fat, I mean tall and muscular. He’s hit the teachers at school leaving bruises and attacked his mom. The teachers and his doctor have all told the mom she needs to think about a group home in the future. She doesn’t want to do that.

Recently, the mom took the boy out of school after an incident that left a teacher bloody and he tried banging his head on a brick wall. Now one teacher comes to her home once a week for an hour and so does a therapist. That’s it. The mom tries to work with him on school work the rest of the week, but it’s obviously a lost cause.

Sorry if TMI, I just wanted to give a little insight into what happens when a child is taken out of school.

I remember watching something about Brooke once. The most depressing part was when their mom proudly said about how they never went anywhere or did anything because Brooke would be "left out". Even though her sisters said they agreed you could see in their eyes that they didn't. *sigh*

if a student is only physically disabled, schools will push IEP meetings back over and over because they want to keep the sweet money the Gov't gives them for that student. If a student is mentally or emotionally disabled and disruptive, they want that IEP meeting ASAP because no one wants to deal with that shit every day.

It's usually mandatory and many parents use it for respite. However, the parent can get the child's doctor to write a letter saying there's no benefit to the child and most states will issue them a waiver.

That's what I figured. Like a severe autist can at least train how not to blow money but there's no benefit to teach something literally empty skulled.

For the few that aren't hooligans (as in, essentially legally dead, a fucking corpse that breathes) I get it. It's actually so fucking sad. You're bound to go a bit nuts when your kid is strapped to a wheelchair and you're wondering if they'd ask for a mercy kill if they had the cognition to speak for just a moment. Especially if it's shit like they were born normal but got dropped on their head or something.
