I just had an end of life conversation within an hospital and Comfort Care was chosen. The doctors specifically mentioned tube feeding as life support. No vent, no tube feeding, no resuscitation. Maybe the terminology varies from place to place but they specifically added that as part of life support.

"Life support" is a phrase where everyone assumes they know the definition, which is one of the reasons doctors have those explicit goals-of-care discussions. In my experience, colloquially people almost always use "life support" to mean "ventilator." The lay public does not know or care about pressors, and they don't realize "life support" also includes tube feeding unless someone explains the issues with stopping.
The US Supreme Court case that led to the Patient Self-Determination Act of 1990 (every patient admitted to a healthcare institution must get information about advance directives) was regarding stopping tube feedings in Nancy Cruzan, a woman in a persistent vegetative state after a car accident.
Bioethics of life support, as well as being able to keep brain dead people "alive," was big in the public consciousness in the late '80s-early '90s, as medical technology improved enough to keep more bodies functioning. Lots of news stories, especially after the news realized comas got ratings. Terry Schiavo came a decade after Nancy Cruzan, and her family didn't all agree--ethical dilemmas can make good TV if you play them right.
I suspect that's why Hideo Kojima keeps using brain dead/vegetative people on life support for nefarious purposes as a plot point or horror reveal in the majority of his games since Policenauts (1994) in this essay I will...

(I will concur that in my experience, life support is comprised of multiple things that keeps the body functioning, and most people do assume it's just the vent.)
Also it is fucking insanity to me how much Revie is dragged around when she's not only disabled but clearly medically vulnerable, her mom makes me unreasonably angry.

I really hate women who claim that their child "is not going to give up", like all the other kids in the same situation was just too darn weak and didn't fight enough.
I know I know, it's just something they say and it's a stupid thing to get hung up on but it really bothers me that they seem to think that their own child is just so special and stronger than other children.
I simply despise the implication that children are making their own choices whether to survive or not.

Paisley, Bella, Veya, Tres, Ansley, Stetson, & Charlie so far.
Christian Buchanan is now 14 years old and though his mother still posts his entire life online he is doing violin and 4H.
Tres passed away in September 2025 he was known as "the boy with two faces" on SBSK.
Eva turned 14 in November 2025 and is the same as she was.
Lily The micropreemie who used to be dressed in garish costumes is doing fine and the mother states she is shutting the account down and no longer posting as of November 2025 since that part of thier life is over.
Ansley the girl with lissencephaly passed away a few months ago at 11.
Jude the little boy with extremely rare dwarfism who is rarely out of hospital has been on both trach and cpap since his family took their extremely immunocomprised boy out and about right after he got discharged before christmas and now he has that extremely bad flu.
The Seitz's are now entirely on youtube and have dropped instagram. Hudson is 16 years old and her father posts videos such as "Took enormous Poop." They sell merch about their daughter and post videos non stop in a "Fathering Autism" style. They are now stating her brain injury occured at birth and blaming the medical doctors in a book they are charging $20 on Kindle. He tapes them while driving at times and does not deal well with the fact he has a tattlelife thread.
Addie is still going strong.
Gracie's mom is still being herself.
Lawson is suddenly vent dependent.
The mother who has had 3 children with the same disorder at different times knowing they would all have it has lost the 2nd child with it.
Cali is growing up and learning ASL and Dynavox to speak.

A rare win for Lily and for this thread. This is the sort of end of content I want to see for every kid in here, much as I know it's not happening for most. Good on her mum for deciding to stop giving milk and let her kiddo live her life unobserved, if she actually manages to stick to this.

Stupid question but can we go back to the topic of SBSK? I've read your post but he has been making new content and I'm interested. It got me wondering if he really wanted to do the youtube channel or maybe he was unwelcome at his special school. He started making longer videos but they still suck. He got that cringe intro back.

This is a very convoluted way of saying "I'm a man I don't care about my looks". Yes because you need to establish routine for the autists watching your content because if you always look the same your videos are safe space for autists.
My theory is that he has a few shirts because he doesn't earn that much money on his channel.
I mean he doesn't do sponsorships. Does he refuse them because it would spoil his image or because nobody wants to do sponsorships? Nowadays everybody does sponsorships and he is allegedly the sole breadwinner of his family of two. I mean he'd have to do it well and not on all interviews but why not?
