It's very "old biddy" of me, but I really do think a lot of it is people heavily relying on spellcheck/autocorrect. I've also noticed it becoming more prevalent and it makes me paranoid about the future. "Loose" and "lose" is one that drives me up the fucking wall. Anecdotally I've heard from teachers that their middle school and high school aged students, in both private and public schools, are struggling to spell even simple words like "board" or "soccer" on paper.

i truly feel like that depends entirely on the degree of disabled. like those kids that dont even eat, or speak, or breathe on their own would be much better served being given 10 bags of fentanyl in a syringe and drifting off. if they are in pain it becomes cruel to keep them alive IMO. Canada is fucking it up but i do agree with euthanization in isntances of physical not mental ailment

If someone can't breathe or eat on their own, rather than killing them with ten bags of fentanyl, how about supporting them with medication for comfort as nature takes its course? No murdering necessary.

Power level: My elderly father died recently after a sudden "event", and he was given morphine as needed, until he naturally died. He was connected only to a urinary catheter, because he had expressed discomfort related to a full bladder, and had a port for IV access, and that was it. Not a bad way to go, and it sure beat watching someone decline slowly from, for instance, cancer or Alzheimer's.
People off all ages are given sedation all the time before things are shut off, so they won't feel anything, if the prognosis is hopeless.
Active euthanasia should only be given if the patient themselves can request it, among other things IMHO.

That would rule out dementia entirely. I think advanced directives for euthanasia are fine in that scenario.

Yeah I don't think euthanasia is ok for people other than adults of sound mind with a terminal illness, but palliative care only is an option for everyone. Including children with fatal conditions.
There's no point in extending someone's life with intensive treatment if they have no quality of life, especially a kid.

The first Kevorkian patient had early-stage, early-onset Alzheimer's and made the decision when she still could. IIRC, she was about 50 years old and had the type that runs in families.
