OK. Did y'all know Michael Schofield wrote a book about Jani called January First?

Did you know that before this book there was a 2010 Discovery Channel documentary called Born Schizophrenic?

I know this thread isn’t the place to start talking about Jani McMath, and I must confess the thread here is way too big for me to get a handle on the entire horrorshow, but considering 2010 wasn’t exactly the medical dark ages, it’s crazy that they decided that a baby could be born with schizophrenia.

The only other context I’m aware of that proposed the idea of childhood schizophrenia was when autism research was in its infancy in the early 20th century, and it was initially described as “childhood onset schizophrenia”.

Ironic really, since I’m guessing Jani’s traits would be rapidly flagged as autistic if she were a child today.

It did the parents lost custody of the younger child. Jani was in foster care until she turned 18 and went straight back to Susan. The father and his wife used to show up pretending to be other people in Susan's thread. They were caught when the data breach occured and it was found out he used his work/school email.

I'm going to be pedantic here not to remotely justify what her parents did, but hopefully maybe explain how they got the public to listen. In an incredibly pedantic sense, yeah, schizophrenics are born with schizophrenia, or at least the genes that may trigger it. There's good evidence for it being genetic so you get some experts to geekout about twin studies (science is cool), add that symptoms often present between 15-30 and you can easily fool idiots into believing that that means symptoms often present in childhood and why not just a bit younger?? Early-onset schizophrenia is a thing after all, so these poor folks must just be at the far end of the bell curve, why would they lie?

That's how they got filmmakers and shit on board though, idk how they got the diagnosis in the first place, I'm guessing doctor shopping at the pay-to-plays?

Go read the Schofield thread, because these parents did lie and drugged these kids into brain damage. They thought Jani was schizophrenic starting from a few months-when she was a baby, because she did normal baby things that mom interpreted as psychotic. Michael was also a pedophile. Dr Phil () even called them out. There is a long thread where every detail is discussed, and Michael even posted . That whack job Without a Crystal Ball pretended she was a legit journalist, who had the inside scoop and was posting, as is her MO with lots of cows and non-cows. She also now has her own thread.

That entire family is a complete shit show who deserves jail, and it’s all documented here, so go there for an entertaining and maddening read. (And Jahi McMath is an entirely different shitshow and there is also a thread.).

We don’t need to rehash it here when there are plenty of crazy moms we are just finding.

It’s not quite out of nowhere like the covid treatment ideas - there are *some* studies that *suggest* these drugs *may* have *some* shrinking effect on *some* tumours, but definitely not anything in any way conclusive. I read up on it a bit when my old dog was in end stage cancer and our (very much non-woo) vet was getting a bit creative in an attempt to extend our quality time. I don’t believe it did anything much, but was relatively harmless to try. (Because it was a dying elderly dog, not a human child.)
