Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon - it sounds like a mobile game

Had a busy week and have been busy playing other shit. I in act 3 and I think I'm close to being done but I'm not sure. I'm very upset about the end of act 2.
I chose to give the rune tablets to the pansy lord instead of the Kamelot captain, mostly because I killed Galahad in act 1 but neither made a compelling case for why they should have them so I went with the default.
In order to convince the blacksmith to go on the expedition for the Grail with the lord, you first have to finish the quest with his apprentice's broken heart. Rejecting the heart or filling it with animal souls causes him to become either despondent or psychotic and the only way you can keep him as a vendor is to burn 30 of your own health. So either you sac him as a vendor or sac your own health and there's no way around this because the quest is required. Next time I'm choosing the captain.
AFTER that, if the apprentice healed fully, he gives you a quest to gather materials for a special hammer or some shit. At the end of the quest, he confesses that he harbors romantic feelings for the player, regardless of their sex, upon which the player is presented with essentially the same choice: (as a man) reject his advances only for the smith to become despondent and cease being a vendor or accept and become a faggot. I'm leaving that quest incomplete. At least it's not required. I know that he's one of two (I think) romance options but I guess it would be too hard to restrict his advances to female player characters because, you know, his entire quest is centered around him being a horndog for women. Do the same for the rich lady in act 1. I know you can romance her but I took her house instead.
And then the quest for the grail goes nowhere. I'm guessing it pops back up at the very end of the game as I found the dungeon under the wicker man that needs all three of Arthur's artifacts but whatever.

So does the writing ever get beyond "Armor man bad"? There's a lot of lore but it all comes down to Arthur being a massive fuckup ALL THE TIME. It's like a meme at this point of someone saying how Arthur is bad with no one even attempting to give the other perspective. Considering everyone would have been dead without him it's just getting retarded, and it's just a stock "What if Superman was evil" story.

It's really shitty design decision. The romance is also rapey considering the whole giving the heart bit means the guy is hypnotized to love you, which tbf is inline with gay romance.

I've never got the feeling it was about Arthur being a fuckup. He does have regrets, especially after he re-learns stuff he did to people in 3rd area, but if he was a fuckup, they would have been resurrecting him every time they couldn't get their own shit together. From flashbacks - and especially from his reaction to Lancelot's tomb reveal - he's an upstanding guy, whose hand was forced several times too many. He's shown to have respected all of his Knights, even those whom shit talked him to his face, because he knew they cared for Avalon and her people, not just the King. All in all, I'm pretty satisfied with how King Arthur was portrayed in the game.
Any spoiler free tips for the true ending? Near the end of the second area. Hopefully it's not some bullshit I already failed.
You have to visit in total 3 "otherworldly" areas and 5 tombs to unlock secret ending. You'll recognize them by the fact that each can be opened AFTER you get Arthur's artifact for that area. You can visit them literally right before the point of no return (which the game informs you of), and still unlock the option.

Alright finished it. An okay game is a pretty apt summary of it. It starts pretty strong and nostalgia really helps, but it wears out its welcome and by the end I just ignored side quests alltogether. I'll do an effort review since 40+ hours of gameplay warrants it.

Stability: Surprisingly I never had anything too bad happen and I think the game only hard crashed once. The last area can be pretty annoying with not marking quest objectives which can lead to googling where the fuck you need to go.

Gameplay: I played on expert. The game started pretty hard and basically had a linear downward trend in difficulty, until the final area where I was basically unkillable for anything that didn't do bullshit multihit attacks. If you read about the places you need to go to for the true ending then you get gear that breaks the difficulty on its back once you have enough stats to wield it. Issue is that afterwards you have no real reason to care about getting new equipment (as the equipment from that quest might as well be ultimate equipment). There are a lot of quests and they are fun at the start, but by the last area I didn't care due to story reason (plus the NPCs were all assholes).
One really shitty thing is that you never get to go to Camelot despite the game hyping the place up to hell.
Visuals and music: Looks alright, though some of the effects, especially the rain, look absolutely abysmal. The world is absolutely tiny and it sounds absurd when people talk on seemingly important regional events when you kill about 20x more humans during the course of the games than the overall number of NPCs in the entire game. Some area designs are neat but sadly it doesn't extend to enemy design. Some of the music is alright to good, but the theme relating to Arthur is cringy as fuck with name dropping Norse terms for seemingly no reason.
Story: This is my main gripe with the game and part of the reason why I went away from it disappointed. The best way I can summarize it is what if you had Game of Thrones plot but needed to 99% of it deal with the human side. You have a lot global plot lines like magical creatures increasingly manifesting and super cancer, but it never really comes into being relevant to the main plot until the end choice (enjoy your Mass Effect 3 ending). Instead we have various location dissatisfied with Moscow Camelot fucking over anything and you needing to solve their issues, which: 1. I don't give a shit about because the world ending threats will kill everyone no matter what I choose until the final choice (where only the true ending actually has humanity survive). 2. We never get a truly good reason why Camelot sucks so much in managing, especially as we never get to EXPLORE THE DAMN CITY, so the morality becomes very black and white rather than grey and the only reason you'd support Camelot is getting evil endings to locations.
Speaking of which, the true ending is obtained from going into random locations in the world and getting an info dump, this really pissed me off since I assumed that doing the quests regarding the world and factions would do anything, but no, nothing matters besides getting a "where they are now" snippet at the end for about 5% of the characters you interacted with.
It's especially bullshit that the game is called Tainted Grail but the only times the Grail is mentioned is in a story quest to make a party searching for one that you never get to interact with after they live, or even hear the conclusion.

Edit: About the third (and last) area, it's just a lot of fetch quests in an area half the size of previous areas. It's just disappointing without any increase in difficulty.

Doing a magic run and poison spray just shits on a lot of the game.

Can't believe you can find it in act 1, the channel is good for farming xp too.

There's a quest in Cuanacht area where you have to jump inside "Abyss" to destroy an artifact, and you enter a room from a balcony, with a bunch of motionless statues looking at a carved wall.
Decided to replay the game just to get to that moment again.

And those cunts pack a punch. Good thing I'm a slavery enjoyer and summons are disposable.

I've still not found this fucking thing, the lightning goes hard though. I went a hybrid archer/summoner magic monstrosity i'm still murdering everything with little effort.

this game really needed like six months in the oven. the patches have been fixed a lot of stuff. i have to finish it before delta or it will fall behind into the backlog
Made it all the way to the end but I'm taking a break as there are several broken act 3 quests that I wanna see fixed before I finish. I'll probably end up starting a new playthrough when I come back though.

If you mean the poison spray spell it's in a crevice under a bridge here, unlocked box and you can just rush here after the prologue.
