The d20, as in the 20-sided die, is a venerable institution. The d20 System, the structure of feats and sliding scales that WotC shat out in the 00s, has a pretty bad reputation. 5e is not technically a d20 System game, although it shares many similarities.
It makes me sad to hear. I grew up on the d20 stuff. At the time it modular and magical and it really seemed you could do or be anything.

But looking back it was so much damn work to even get rolling you seldom got to use even 10% of the cool feats, classes, and spells.

I've really gotten into OSE modules and books of late. The simplicity of stuff like, "Does your wizard identify the potion? Roll intelligence" instead of shit like "Okay roll Craft (Alchemy) with a +2 synergy bonus from Professional (Herbalism) and I'll give you a +2 morale bonus from the bard", or even "Arcana with Advantage and double proficiency bonus."

Its probably me getting old, but I like it streamlined.

Early d20 3rd party stuff was also pretty bad. No where near the quality Pathfinders 3rd party books were. At least there was more 3rd party d20 stuff than AD&D 2nd Ed 3p books. Most that edition got were just one page rules.

As per usual the retards have no core knowledge of the thing they're trying to usurp. Athas is fucked. You aren't going to overthrow the heckin Trumperino dragon kings and turn the world into a paradise full of gay bistros. The dragon kings aren't special Captain Planet villains, they're just high-level wizards. Magic itself destroys the world, it's a simple and inescapable fact. The world and everyone on it are doomed. The brutality, slavery, cannibalism, everything, are reflections of the fact that the people are desperate and have abandoned any sense of morality in their need to survive. The problematic cannibal halflings aren't cannibals for fun, they're cannibals because not doing so would mean they'll starve. You aren't fixing this with your appeals to the proletariat and a class war to redistribute wealth; your new socialist community is going to run out of food and water at exactly the same rate as everyone else.
:disagree:
GIven what we've seen from communist countries, they will run out of food and water faster than everyone else.

The tactile feeling of two gems striking each other in your hand vs singular lump of feces that is d20 that makes you feel nothing...
I was in a really long-running game using WEG's D6 system. I kept a bag of rhomboid ("crystal") d6s in pearly white, so when I got to use the BIG gun it was like shaking a handful of teeth.

Are people here trying to say that Athas would have been fine if they just adopted trickle down economics, increased deforesting, killed the gays, and cut taxes on the merchant guilds?

I mean, I HOPE the political sperging hasn't gotten that bad....

Found this in the wild today. There's also a non revised edition. I'm not even sure what the difference is between the two.
I just picked it up to read through for some surface knowledge of it. I had done the same thing with the 2e books a few years ago.
They have a good selection of 4e materials and whoever traded it to said shop was for sure running some sort of space games.
4e core + several supplement books on sci-fi future, space travel, aliens and a few others in that theme.
They're sitting at 15 bucks each so I might grab them next visit just for reading purposes to kill time.
I had a friend with me at the shop that was a guest casual player back in the 3.5 days. I had to explain GURPS and the part where people know about it. They talk about it. But its only played IRL in local rumors and legends.
Can anyone tell me if this book is going to make me consider chopping off my dong?

Nice. I've got some d6s that are stylized as brass bullets in a similar shape. On the subject of die rolling, "throw a handful of dice plus a chaos die, get bigger numbers to succeed" is a very underrated rolling method. It has the easy breakpoint scaling of d20 rolls without the supreme swinginess that comes with having every single probability be equal odds. I wish more systems used it.

I have some bad news. by touching it, the time stream has already reorderd such that your dong is already chopped off. It is too late for you.

Yeah its gone.
I suppose I need to pack up and hop a train to Portland or Seattle.
I'll bet I could use Stinkditch to larp as the subjects there and get myself hired at White Wolf or something.

On a side note I haven't noticed any faggotry to sharpie over yet. Looking at the publishing date it checks out. The game content isn't anything I haven't seen in various forms in other games before.
Its very bare bones.
Could still be used for a semi lite game as is though.
The whole point of Gurps pretty much revolves around using 97 different books for any sort of detailed game.
That shop had an absolute horde of Gurps books pre covid at like 5 bucks a pop.
We're talking a couple full shelves top to bottom.
Then the crap hit the fan with the OGL scandal and the smart employees grabbed em up for resale because Not D&D started getting loads of attention.
There's a load of 5th edition core + accessories now.

Oh the lack of anything you see that needs to be sharpied is also because of the GRS caused by paracausal damage. Define in the errors you need to find and destroy the tranny shark plushie that is currently in your house.

Wellp, it's official. I'm now a paid GM for Call of Cthulhu. It's peanuts, but it's a bit intimidating knowing folks shelled out a few bucks for a one shot with me at a local store. Fingers crossed.
