Sweden Deporting Young People

Forced Out as They ‘Age Out,’ as Families Remain

Ayla, 21, Jomana, 18, and Ilya, 19, came to Sweden as children, though at different ages and under different circumstances. Today they face the same reality: all have been ordered to leave the country alone while their families remain.

These cases stem from Sweden’s increasingly restrictive migration policy, under which young people who turn 18 before obtaining permanent residency are no longer considered part of their parents’ family unit. The Swedish Migration Agency states that residency based on parental ties is granted only in exceptional cases involving “special dependency.” A normal parent-child relationship is not sufficient.

On February 17, 2025, a multiparty proposal to stop these deportations did not gain a majority in the Parliamentary Committee on Social Insurance, despite cross-party recognition that the practice separates families.

Jomana Gad, 18, arrived in Sweden at age 4 and faces deportation to Egypt. “I have my whole life here,” she told media, describing her hopes for education and work. Ayla Rostami, 21, who arrived at 15, recalls seeing Sweden as a place of freedom. Ilya Taheraki, 19, came at age 8 and applied for permanent residency at 15. He was rejected days after turning 18. He and Ayla now face deportation to Iran.

Young people cannot be deported from Sweden if they have permanent residency, but many children spend years in the country on temporary permits. Combined with long processing times and increasingly restrictive policies—including stricter family reunification rules, higher income requirements, and narrowed humanitarian protection such as limits on “particularly distressing circumstances”—the safeguards that keep families together have weakened. As a result, some “age out” at 18 and lose their right to remain in the country as they can no longer claim residency based on ties to their parents.

Sweden is a party to both the European Convention on Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, under which failing to prioritize the best interest of the child and to protect the private and family lives of children and young adults within the context of immigration is a violation of the country’s international legal obligations.

Instead, Sweden should halt deportations that separate young adults from their families and ensure children’s asylum and family reunification cases are processed without delays that cause them to age out of protection. The government should also create clear pathways to residency reflecting the years individuals have spent in Sweden, including schooling and community ties, and reintroduce humanitarian grounds for “particularly distressing circumstances.”

failing to prioritize the best interest of the child
Which children? Swedish ones, or is the country of 10M mandated as babysitter for the world's 3 billion kids?

protect the private and family lives of children and young adults
"Oh just make an exception for poor churdren who showed up illegally...and also their parents and famblies and even if they aren't children any more, those too..."

The way NO FUCKING PARTY or ideology in our world any more other than actual Donald Trump can say "hey, cool, we won something! We accomplished something we set out to do!"
Trump shut down acceptance of new refugees almost entirely. They took 3k from South Africa. That's the bar now.

Sweden is still accepting 10-15k refugees a year. It's insane. If they were sending that number BACK every year, I could see calling it a win, even though it's still not really enough. It's at least a good start. Fussing around with sending a couple teens back while welcoming 15,000 third world eaters into the country every year is not a good start. It's not even a start. Yeah, 15k is better than 100k but it's still fucking terrible and not even close to winning.

So, you'll hear on the news "our country has had the lowest number of immigrants coming this year" you think "hell yeah", you go outside, and you still see millions of browns doing fuck all. It feels extremely discouraging
Its the same issue as inflation.

A decrease in velocity does not equate to a reversal in direction, only a reversal in acceleration.

MATHS. Specifically calculus.

Sweden no!

Who knew that importing thousands and thousands of military aged men with no connection to your country and culture would lead to crime spikes and no-go zones.

He and Ayla now face deportation to Iran.
I'm admittedly biased about this given the current predicament in iran and being iranian myself but knowing that unlike 90% of the migrant trash, we are usually decent and grateful about being in a civilized society that isn't ruled and oppressed by insane death cultists and their shitty holy book. And trying to contribute to the lands we are in barring a few bad apples. Shame that knowing Europe and its ties to iran. They're more willing to deport them than abdullah who has raped and murdered several underage white girls in Stockholm.

Anyhow, Sweden is for swedes. They're sick and tired of islamic bullshit ruining their country.

How are the parents able to acquire PR, yet the children remain stuck in legal limbo? Sounds like an underfunded and understaffed government agency.

Many such cases in governments who are 'tough on illegal migration'! Announcing deportations target and then failing to provide resources to speed up the processing to actually get people out of the country until they can find a loophole.

the question is how are the actual numbers looking
they've been doing shit like this for years in various euro countries:
>politician in power talks a big talk about finally getting tough on immigration
>carries out deportations with great fanfare and massive publicity
>media makes a huge deal about it
>months later, yearly statistics come out
>300 total deportations and 80.000 new arrivals
It's easy to announce deportations. Paying to make it happen expediently is quite another, or they talk about irregular migration specifically and don't count people coming in legally as tourists and then claiming asylum and/or apealling adverse judgements. Their claims take years to get processed because of understaffed bureacracies and nothing's really changed in the end.

Now talk to me about indians
Right now we're arguing about whether accepting 15,000 browns into your country every year to live on welfare for life is winning or not. I'd say it's not. Not even if you start sending some of their kids home after they turn 18.

Actually now that you mention it, I do wonder how many of that 3k are Indian. They like to run the story with pictures of Whites, but I've read the fine print and have my doubts.

Was recent about a kid risking getting deported to Georgia with his mom, a country he never been to (born in Sweden).
Now why you ask, would the evil Swedes do this?
Easly.
The mom came to the country on an asylum claim back in 05, got denied and appealed it over and over again, and lived in Sweden ilegaly when she has been told she has no right to be there.
The story was all "how can the government be this evil" but anyone with an ounce of sense knows it is the moms fault.
It suck for the kid, but it is what it is.
edit, here is the article (it is in swedish so use translation tools. )

As far as I know, it's the Danes who are doing a pretty good job at not polluting their country, and pointing at Sweden as a prime example on how not to do it.

"-See? This is why we insist that these Swedes are fucking retarded."

Looks like they're trying to turn the ship around, let's see how it goes.
I'm admittedly biased about this given the current predicament in Persia and being Persian myself (...)
Fixed that for you.

Unfortunately good people pay for the mistakes or retards. I also wonder if this sharp turn on immigration would make it difficult for me to go study/work in Sweden, but it's their country and they have the right to decide who gets to come and who needs to leave, without being shamed and called nazis

If the government was tough on immigration from the start, only accepting a small amount of people who would be a net good, this pendulum swing would not have happened

Conservatives absolutely, categorically refuse to believe they've achieved anything on immigration restrictions in the many countries where huge reductions have been made.
iirc ICE has already deported 500,000 people and the rate of deportations, arrests, etc is still accelerating. We'll probably reach the 2,000,000 mark by the time Trump's term is over unless something happens to slow down the pace.

I believe the reason for this is because the deportations aren’t a result of the military rounding up criminal migrants before setting them adrift in the ocean or shipping them off to some random island like Napoleon’s second exile.
How are the parents able to acquire PR, yet the children remain stuck in legal limbo? Sounds like an underfunded and understaffed government agency.
Since it’s Europe, I’m willing to bet some NGO.

This is just fucking retarded. If you don't want to give the child residency that's your choice, but then the parents shouldn't be getting it either

They literally just announced a program to deport people who aren't engaging in "honest living" after immigrating. Let 'em cook. I for one very much am enjoying watching them come up with solutions to the problem. I believe in self-correcting, dynamic systems and people changing their opinions over time as they see changes in their culture. Sweden cracked down on new entrants first and is now starting to pursue the people already there. You've got to stop the sewer line from spraying everywhere before you can start cleaning up the sewage it left behind while it was busted.
They have to go back too. Economic migration basically shouldn't be a thing. Merit-based migration (for the very top jobs only) and marriage should be the only ways in. Zero tolerance for a lack of integration either. The mosques have to be torn down and there has to be no more of that pedo religion outside of the shithole countries.

US is accepting like 150000 Indians per year.

This is true. When I went to Sweden from Denmark you go from no issues on one side of the bridge to some obvious issues on the other side of the bridge.
