Susie Green & Mermaids UK - "Trans Kid Support Charity", Susie had her underage kid get GRS

OK.... what the hell UK? How does an organization consisting of doctors who lost their licenses for malpractice get to dictate policy? Do you guys even know how your weird fucking government works? Or is it all just tea with the queen, whatever she says goes, then some weirdos in wigs pretend to do democracy to distract everyone?

But mudslimes love transing homos

We need more gay men and lesbians to bring the LGBT movement back to being about gay liberation and equality, but there's far more creepy straight men who've trooned out after watching too much "lesbian" porn than there are actual lesbians, so they're outnumbered.

Basically yeah. The queen generally tries to stay out of politics but, like in most countries, if you have money you can lobby officials to influence policy and have more impact than you would as a party member, so it's all just tea (or expensive dinners and training sessions) with the weirdos in wigs or with the MPs and then they pretend to do democracy.
That, and the government's strapped for cash and wants to make easy wins, so changing the Gender Recognition Act to allow self-ID is a cheap way for the Tories to look trendy and nice and throw off their "nasty party" image, while not actually spending any extra money on therapy or medicine for trans people or providing specialist services to them.

Also exceptionals like Harris doing streams to spite Father Ted that get useful idiots and ideologues to mainstream something as truly idiotic as mermaids. No one looks closely and just sees an organization that describes itself as supporting trannies. This leads well-meaning dummies to be tricked into thinking this is the next big civil rights case of our bored generation that cannot come to grips that there doesn't always have to be a victim and that not everyone who claims to be oppressed necessarily is.

Mermaids is a predatory group and Susie Green is no different than the anti-vaxxers like Jenna McCarthy. None of their gender spectrum shit is based on legit science just like the anti-vaccine shit.

It’s actually even worse than that. No one at Mermaids is medically qualified at all. Green is an IT consultant. Webberley has run multiple clinics which are dodgy (think I posted about them upthread somewhere.) The WPATH lot are all psychologists at the very most. No endocrinologists, paediatricians or actual medics.

Yet this group and others like them have managed to actually change the definitions in the DSM and the ICD. They’ve managed to get the standard of care documentation dictated by them.

No other field of medicine has ever had anything like this. Normally you’d consult with patient groups over stuff like ‘so how can we make this prosthetic more comfy?.’ What’s happening here is like giving a bunch of patients the key to the controlled substance cabinet and saying ‘mix up whatever you like!’

It is really, really frightening. Actual medical practice and standards of care are being altered by pressure groups with ZERO medical knowledge or training. Doctors who speak up are demonised. Evidence based medicine and logic are out the window.

Much as I love my country, it’s not covering itself in glory here. Everyone is panicking over brexit so this isn’t really in the spotlight

Edited: if we are talking about influence, have we covered TELI yet? The trans legal group set up to produce trans friendly legislation and push legal cases? Because that is a thread all of its own.

It’s like TLL, they didn’t hire anyone capable of providing suicide prevention support. Their training was garbage and not approved by any recognized suicide prevention group.

Mermaids is about instant gratification and validation, not therapy or support. If a kid says their gender confused, mermaid gets them to a clinic that will instantly put them on puberty blockers and hormones. This isn’t compassion, it’s predatory and harmful to those kids who will wind up offing themselves down the road or wind up with major medical complications like Jazz (can’t wait for that bomb to explode). They’re trying to cover up Jazz’s issues.

Webberley might like to have a look at the prescribing info for triptorelin (the blocker used in the UK, in the USA it’s mainly Lupron) because pretty much any patient on any of the drugs in her list would be contraindicated purely on mental health grounds from being prescribed triptorelin.

Slight tangent as well, but Lupron was at one point the subject of the largest lawsuit in pharma history back in 2001. http://archive.is/6Xbrj

The owners now make about 826 million a year from Lupron alone and the GnRH market is worth a couple of billion a year. Right now most of that is from palliative prostate cancer prescriptions, precocious puberty and (medically uneccessary) ovulation regulation in IVF but just imagine the market from the trans population...

So no, Helen, using a drug with proven permanent negative effects on children is not akin to giving a child who needs it quetiapine. God I hope the GMC suspend her. She’s a disgrace.

Honestly, I just cannot be fucking bothered to. I'm bi and happy enough just living my life, knowing people don't care about that. I don't want to get embroiled in a row with the demented REEEing harridans and people glomming onto troonism because they're underwhelming creatures, the better part of whom ran down their Mother's leg.

They're too loud, they're too spiteful and they're so invested in their bullshit they don't care what they have to do to get what they want and I'd rather not touch that turd with a fifty foot stick. They win

It's also pretty rare to put under-16s on antidepressants like citalopram or sertraline. NICE says fluoxetine is the "preferred" antidepressant to use, but even then, only if the patient doesn't respond to talking therapies first, and only after a lot of assessments. CAMHS certainly don't just hand them out like the Webberleys do trans drugs.

Pretty good analogy there even though it's not what Dr. Troon n' Chop intended. ADHD meds were rampant in the 90s and early 2000s. In some cases, schoolteachers (who are not medical professionals) were recommending ADHD meds for unruly kids, and in others, principals were essentially telling parents that they were going to transfer their child to another school unless their child was placed on medication.

Thankfully that doesn't really happen too often anymore in my experience, because people woke up to overprescription.

Now when is this going to happen to GnRH agonists?

Concur. I think this has been dubbed the "evaporative cooling" of movements- as the relatively normal people get disenchanted (or get what they want, as in this case)- they leave the movement because it doesn't fulfill any function for them anymore, leaving the machinery of the movement in the hands of progressively (heh) crazy people. I mean, gays got marriage, they got inheritance rights, they got employment protections, that's like 85% of the major complaints gone right now. Why stick around if it's not doing anything for you?

The problem is, troons don't want that. What they want is for every one to agree with them, validate them and believe and spout the same bullshit they do. I couldn't give less of a shit if people like gays or lesbians or bisexual people. But these cretins, their whole sense of self worth hinges on winning or forcing approval from everyone and every institution going. It's pathetic

This is what happens when participation trophy morons grow up and realise they're not special, they're not amazing, and that life isn't easy. The kick off and demand everyone start feeding their delusions

Really, they prescribe Haldol to pre-teens in the UK? I don't buy that. (That's the drug you hear about ER doctors injecting into floridly crazy patients so they'll calm down. It's powerful).

And there's tons of criticism of these drugs being prescribed to kids! Ritalin's already been discussed. Quetiapine (or its brand name, Seroquel) gets prescribed for bipolar disorder, and it can have some really harsh side effects including massive weight gain. There's tons of people saying it's horrifying to prescribe it to kids, and there's also horror stories from those who had a negative experience while on it. There are lots of people saying childhood bipolar isn't real and it's overdiagnosed--see for example this Psychiatry Times article.
