Susie Green & Mermaids UK - "Trans Kid Support Charity", Susie had her underage kid get GRS

It's the one the caught my eye in Hannah Barnes assessment. There might be other things too but Mermaids seem WAY too calm about this.
They did a similar thing when the Department for Education published that guidance instructing teachers not to tell children that it is possible to be “born in the wrong body”, or that liking things stereotypically associated with the opposite sex means they are “actually a boy/girl”.

“Nothing to see here” is their mantra.

Oh, they actually tried to make this a thing. In schools.
Thanks, I know they're going to hell but it's nice to confirm when they get there there's going to be a fucking queue waiting to start on them. I hope the irony is not lost on them as they're bent over waiting for things to start and they hear "first time?" in a German accent from a little guy with sad facial hair next to them.

Helen Webberley published a blog post on the GenderGP website on Saturday, in which she's clear she's going to make it up as she goes along no matter what the NHS is doing. How to provide great gender-affirming care for trans youth - Dr Helen Webberley - GenderGP Transgender Services (archive)

So odd that GenderGP Pte and its staff are always so concerned with the UK, considering it is a Singapore company. Almost as if it's not really a Singaporean company, but a British company avoiding British laws.

Apologies for double-posting.

At the weekend, Glinner posted this article by KFP about a training session run by Mermaids for "a major UK company" this spring. Mermaids Training Exposed - by KFP - The Glinner Update (archive)

I've included it below, along with archived images and audio, as well as a transcript of the audio included in the original post.

The content of a Spring 2023 Training Session provided by Mermaids to staff of a major UK Company (which I was able to view in its entirety) is further confirmation the scandal ridden 'charity' needs to be shut down permanently.

Here is an overview of the session (which took place online and was approximately an hour long), including slides shown to participants, and audio clips of the Mermaids Trainer who identifies as non-binary but is in fact a woman.

It is clear the ideology embedded into the organisation by former CEO Susie Green lives on.

MT = Mermaids Trainer

MT told participants that Mermaids was set up in 1995 by a group of parents who met in the Tavistock ‘waiting rooms’ - the closure of GIDS was not mentioned.

The slide detailing the aims of the organisation included logos for Equality and Human Rights Commission, Government Equalities Office, and Department for Education.

The colourful logo is for the LGBT+ Consortium which is supporting Mermaids in its attempt to strip LGB Alliance of Charitable Status. CEO Paul Roberts gave testimony in the court hearings which revealed he considers same sex attraction to be transphobic, and had only skim read the Cass Interim Report.

The Helpline was highlighted as the main service provided by Mermaids. According to MT, it had approximately 9,000 contacts in 2019 which 'shot up' to over 45,000 in 2021 and 'it is only going up by the thousands cause unfortunately it is not a very good time for the trans and non-binary community in the UK right now'.

Participants were told some non-binary people consider themselves transgender as they were not assigned non-binary at birth.

According to MT, Gender Dysphoria ‘can have a lot to do with feeling like you're in the wrong body' and that 'it can be quite distressing to live in the wrong body for a long time'.
763143e1-5788-4cdb-b09c-c525aca35e8c_1395x833.jpg
Participants were told it's important for ‘cisgender’ people to state their pronouns to normalise it. MT declared that some neopronouns date back to the 1300s. In response to a later question, ‘it’ was confirmed by MT to be a neopronoun.
bbbcd097-9b38-41ac-b9f6-936f204344d2_1407x847.jpg
Being male or female was compared to a dimmer switch. MT stated 'your body itself is actually not always totally binary'. The presence of different levels of male and female hormones in people's bodies was used as evidence for sex not being binary.

Gender Identity was detailed alongside Biological Sex as if it is real and something everyone has. Participants were told it’s unrelated to attraction. This is despite Mermaids basing sexual orientation on Gender Identity and not Biological Sex.
d3b336ba-2850-43f5-841f-18957d809d32_1405x856.jpg
Drag Queens were used to illustrate how Identity, Attraction, Sex, and Expression are separate - a cisgender man dressed up as a woman is still a man (but if he identifies as a woman, then he is a woman).

MT claimed there is a 'biological cause' for trans identities - it’s just not known yet.

Although, according to MT the 'cause of someone's gender identity or gender diversity ultimately shouldn't matter' because everybody should be celebrated.

Apparently trans and non-binary people face daily challenges.

Pink News was used as a source of information.

MT told participants that being able to medically transition can take over a decade and that 'is a very long time to live in the wrong body'. It was claimed this waiting period can result in people needing mental health support but finding a professional who 'understands the issues that trans and non-binary people go through is almost impossible'.

MT highlighted 'discriminatory legislation' - the Gender Recognition Act in Scotland was needed 'just to make it a little bit easier for trans people to self identify'.

Participants were told that trans people are more likely to be the victim of a violent crime.

They were also lectured on ‘microaggressions’ with ‘did you have the surgery’ an example on the slide.
28a12ce2-f113-4b31-84f6-6b88dd5c6806_1409x843.jpg
Participants were then given a 'Content Warning' (with a slide literally saying that) and the opportunity to mute or leave the room as MT would be discussing self-harm and suicide.

This warning turned out to be in relation to ‘statistics’ from Stonewall.

MT shared a personal story (one of many) about how she didn't feel it was safe in her last job to 'come out' as non-binary.

Participants were told that using the name a trans young person chose reduces suicide attempts by 65%.
4e24b178-3c81-45fc-aa55-c92f63093d88_1396x849.jpg
Other cultures were misrepresented to promote gender (identity) ideology. MT claimed 'many countries were forced into this binary gender system by colonialism by European countries'.
db860f6c-dfc0-4e0f-9657-05051ce12f86_1418x832.jpg
The lives of people who have died were also distorted.

Marsha P. Johnson for example is often referred to as a trans woman of colour by trans activists. Yet he is on video making it clear that he was a gay man who dressed in drag (he also did not start the Stonewall Riots).

MT informed participants that trans and non-binary people have been around for 'thousands of years' and there only seems to be more of them now because they feel comfortable in telling others.

Apparently these people are ‘Role Models And Trailblazers’ and 'someone for our young people to look up to'. Note the inclusion of Munroe Bergdorf who even Childline cut ties with - MT said ‘we love her here’.

Emma Watson who has publicly supported Mermaids in the past (even encouraging people to donate money) was highlighted as one of the ‘influential people’ who are allies. This is the photo of her which appeared in the presentation - ‘Trans Rights are Human Rights’ on her t-shirt.

Participants were told the Dos and Donts of being a good ally.
e16efca3-5dc1-4d29-9e8a-bb1cae705381_1402x830.jpg
MT stated allyship was needed not just from individuals but 'companies and organisations and charities and politicians, we need to have all of these people on our side'.

TV series Butterfly (which Mermaids and Susie Green were involved with) was one of the recommendations for ‘More Learning’ - with others to be sent after the training.

MT then moved on to a ‘Questions’ section. It included her speaking about the ‘Gender Critical Movement’. That and other audio clips, approximately five minutes in total (short pause between clips) can be heard below.

(Geranium: AI transcript below.)
Mermaids Trainer dijo:
And gender dysphoria is used to describe when a person's experiences when a person experiences discomfort or distress because there's a mismatch between their sex assigned at birth and their gender identity. And this can have a lot to do with feeling like you're in the wrong body and just looking at it and knowing that something just doesn't feel quite right. And that's that kind of sense of discomfort. And it can go further than that when you're knowing there's something really not right and you know that you're trans and that it needs to be changed for you to be comfortable and it can lead to and it can be quite distressing to live in the wrong body for a long time. So gender dysphoria can be a very difficult one.

So is gender binary. The mindset for a very long time has been it's like a light switch on, off, male, female, those are your options. But it's kind of moving more towards dimmer. Switch can be all the way male or all the way female, but you have all these levels in between, which is why it's more like a spectrum. And your body itself is actually not always totally binary. So we can define someone as a man or woman in different physical ways, but they're never completely binary. Here you'll see some physical characteristics you would imagine be pretty consistent for cisgender people, but they're all on a spectrum as well. I think the best example of this is hormones. So no matter what you were assigned at birth or identify now, as everybody actually has different levels of male and female hormones within their body.

There are very many daily challenges that you go through as a gender diverse person, especially if you're like a young gender diverse person, you are likely to experience microaggressions, discrimination, prejudice. Young people also experience bullying, not just from their peers, but from their own parents and authority figures like teachers. And again, this all comes back to mental health. This all causes poor mental health.

The societal challenges as well are much wider than I think what a lot of media would have you to believe. So like a few years ago, if you were looking on the news about what are the trans issues, it would kind of look a lot like this. Pronouns, bathrooms, those are always the kind of things that are being discussed. However, it actually looks a lot more like this. There are many more challenges that a lot of people don't see and access to health care is one of the main ones. So if you need to fully medically transition and that's what's going to make you feel most comfortable, that can take over a decade, which, as you can imagine, is a very long time to live in the wrong body. And that might mean that you need a little help with your mental health. But then again, mental health care is almost inaccessible. Trying to find a mental health professional that understands the issues that trans and nonbinary people go through is almost impossible. And I can attest to that from my own searches. Transphobic media is a huge issue as well. There are a lot of British tabloids and things that are very obviously not supportive of the trans and nonbinary community. And when we see that, it's very disheartening, along with celebrities and things who may say things that are against the trans and nonbinary community, we see that. And that hurts us, especially our young people. When they look up to these amazing celebrities and these amazing people and they're putting them down, all comes back to, again, poor mental health.

There's a lot of discriminatory legislation going on as well. Recently in Scotland, we tried to pass the Gender Recognition Act just to make it a little bit easier for trans people to self identify. And that was blocked by England, which was quite upsetting for us because that was going to be a huge step forward. So this is a constant battle, all of these societal challenges. And as you can see from the wheel, there's many, many more. You're more likely to become homeless. Whether that's because you're a young person and you've come out and your family doesn't accept you, or because your landlord has found out that you're trans and has jacked the rent way up to the point where you cannot afford it and have to leave your home. That's happening a lot more as well. You're more likely to experience a violent crime and many, many more.

We have to be really careful about promoting events, even if they're like fundraising for us. We have to be really careful about posting on social media or something, just in case the sort of gender critical movement, as they call themselves sorry, would show up or anything like that. And we have to be extra, extra safe with everything which we are.

Me again, sorry. Susie spoke at the Fifteen Seconds Festival in Graz over the weekend but, as far as I can tell, there hasn't been a video posted.

Susie Green is "devastated" by a (presumably deliberately leaked) story in the Sun that the government is to restrict teachers' connivance with transgenderism. She says that "T*RF island is not safe for trans people", so I imagine she'll be evacuating herself and her son to the USA pronto.

About a year ago whilst accepting a charity award for Mermaids, I spoke about my fears that this transphobic government was heading towards a trans section 28. And here we are. T*RF island is not safe for trans people, and especially trans kids. I am devastated. But we fight on.

Here's the story the screenshots are from: Schools to be banned from letting pupils change gender if their parents oppose it in new guidance from Rishi Sunak | The Sun (archive). In essence, schools will have to tell parents if their child displays mental illness at school, and can only play along with the mental illness if the parents agree with it. There is one particularly dumb bit: "Where a child is questioning their gender, they should not be allowed to play competitive sport." Surely it's easier to just say that children can play competitive sport only against others of the same sex? And Sex Matters point out that it's unfair to children to lie about the ability to change sex, and damaging to play along with delusions that this is possible.

Susie gets into a scuffle with a troll account, again crying that it's "creepy" to be "obsessed with another persons private parts". It's only OK to be "obsessed with another person's private parts" when you support them having them chopped off and replaced by a section of colon.

This is the ‘man’ in charge. Our moral compass. Our leader. No. Not my leader. Not this repugnant and venomous sycophant. He allowed his cheating and lying former holder of office to elevate those who broke the law, to uphold the law. And now he punches down. It’s nauseating.

Here's the entirety of what Sunak said about men who say they're women:

Rishi Sunak dijo:
Over the same period of time, you might have noticed [Lib Dem leader] Ed Davey has been very busy. Like me, you can probably see that he was trying to convince everybody that women clearly have penises. You’ll all know that I’m a big fan of everybody studying maths to 18, but it turns out that we need to focus on biology to 18 as well.
No, I don't know either how laughing at someone "trying to convince everybody that women clearly had penises" counts as "punching down".

And, lastly for Susie, here's a picture of her with another homophobic straight woman:

Last week they posted about the final interim NHS service spec (discussed above). New NHS England guidelines restricting future access to puberty blockers: Our analysis - Mermaids (archive)
Mermaids dijo:
Our main concerns are:
  • Waiting times: nobody will be taken off the ever-growing waiting list, now at almost 7,500 people, until the new Hubs are established. We believe this has been the case for many months, which is wholly unacceptable.
  • Access to puberty blockers: is to be restricted to only those with “early-onset gender dysphoria” as part of mandatory research.
  • Social Transition: despite improvements since the initial draft, the approach to social transition remains overly medicalised and unclear.
  • Private Providers: the guidelines still take a punitive approach to families using private providers to access gender-affirming care, unless under very specific circumstances.
  • Neurodivergent young people fear they will face additional barriers when seeking support.
I think it's telling that these are their concerns. In order:
  • Waiting times: why would the NHS take children off the waiting list only to subject them to a pathway it has clearly said is not acceptable?
  • Access to puberty blockers: "mandatory research" because the current situation is "we have no good evidence what these do for gender dysphoria".
  • Social transition: Mermaids complain the new approach is "overly medicalised"; the Cass review found that social transition interferes with neutral development and should be treated with caution.
  • Private providers: Mermaids want a wild west of pill-mills, like Singapore's Gender GP Pte, pedding powerful drugs to children.
  • Neurodivergent young people: Mermaids want to continue to be able to convince young autists that they're actually trans.
Good to see they haven't improved since sacking Susie Green last year.

that it is still happening across the UK right now in a school near you. And the government are complicit, promoting guidance NOT LAW that contravenes trans kids human rights, and the media is ramping up the hate. If you are a member of the press taking part. Shame on you.

Horton cites the "two peer reviewed articles" but doesn't mention that she is the author of both.

Institutional cisnormativity and educational injustice: Trans children’s experiences in primary and early secondary education in the UK - Horton - 2023 - British Journal of Educational Psychology - Wiley Online Library (archive)

Horton's aim here was "to learn about the at-school experiences of transgender children who socially transitioned at or before primary school in the UK" by way of interviews with "30 parents whose children had socially transitioned under the age of 11 in the UK … complemented [by interviews with] 10 of these trans children." The parents were found "through six trans positive parenting groups in the UK". Needless to say, these are parents who are wholly signed up to transgenderism, were actively involved in transgenderist groups, and had transitioned their children at a mean age of under 7 years old (6.97).

Horton's method was, essentially, to have a chat with the parents: "Semi-structured interviews covered a broad range of areas of experience related to education, family and healthcare. This paper focuses on … interviewee responses to education-focused questions including ‘What has been your experience with primary school’ or ‘Tell me about your secondary school’. An open-ended active listening approach was employed, supported by a range of prompts such as ‘How did that affect you/your child’, ‘What worked well in that school’; ‘What do you think other schools could learn from your experience?’.”

Horton admits: "The research takes an explicitly trans positive approach, recognizing the harms of past pathologization of childhood gender diversity".

So this paper is a reflection of the views of a group of activist parents (including Horton!), who have deceived their young children into believing they are of the opposite sex (or of no sex! 10% had "non-binary" children). Horton complains the paper has had no media coverage, but why would it? A journalist would do just as well to copy a Mermaids press release.

OK, second paper. Full article: Gender minority stress in education: Protecting trans children’s mental health in UK schools (archive)

It's the same group of parents and children as the previous paper, and looks at "gender minority stress" among schoolchildren. The "minority stress" model (in general) hypothesises that a minority group has poor mental health because of discrimination against that minority group. This is a controversial model in any case, and particularly in this area, where there is a strong counter-argument that children with poor mental health latch onto the concrete "solution" of transition as an explanation for their distress.

Here's what Horton says counts as discrimination: "Discrimination was mentioned in three ways, with examples of trans pupils being denied access to appropriate toilets, denied access to changing facilities, or experiencing forced isolation on school trips, with trans children not permitted to share rooms with their friends." Note how this normalises an extremely controversial position: that male children should be allowed into girls' toilets, changing rooms, and bedrooms (and the reverse). Only among committed transgenderists is this seen as discrimination.
"A number of child interviewees described feeling unable to challenge adult authority figures, particularly when they were in primary school." :story:
"Gender minority stress" also apparently results when people don't play along with the parents' delusions: "Non-affirmation is a component of GMS, recognizing the harm trans individuals experience when their identity is not recognized or actively denied".

It goes on in this vein. The most that you could find out from the study is — shocker — that there is bullying in schools. I doubt either of Horton's papers is useful for trans activists themselves. Honestly I feel dumber having read them.

Anyway, back to Susie. She says that bullying at school almost killed Jack, and then refers to it as "state-sanctioned abuse"(?). But it's just more of the same old shit from Susie: cry about how terrible things are in the hope that people will just go along with whatever you want. "Wah, wah, my kid almost committed suicide because transphobia, so you must let boys into the girls' changing rooms." Pure emotional blackmail, let alone the fact that Susie's fuelling of Jack's belief he was a girl probably contributed to marking him out as a weirdo.

Anyway, here's a new article and podcast episode about Helen Webberley and Gender GP. It's by Tortoise, which was set up for middle-class liberals who thought the Guardian wasn't hand-wringing enough, though a quick skim suggests it's perhaps not all bad.
The Gender GP: inside the world of private trans healthcare – Polly Curtis - Tortoise (archive)

I have the audio but I can't upload it at the moment. I'll post it later and try to whip up a transcript.

@Geranium you are doing the Lord's work :feels:

Discrimination was mentioned in three ways, with examples of trans pupils being denied access to appropriate toilets, denied access to changing facilities, or experiencing forced isolation on school trips, with trans children not permitted to share rooms with their friends
"Discrimination is when I can't spy on girls in the bathroom & when they're getting changed, and I'm not left alone with them to molest them in their sleep". My mind boggles at how so many people don't realise how perverse this ideology is.

I got the impression from the Hannah Barnes book that a huge amount of the 'bullying' the 'trans' kids experience stems from them being gay, and combining this with them usually being autistic they conclude that they were born in the wrong body. Every problem they've ever had is then retroactively blamed on that. If they didn't have the trans identity then these kids would still be being bullied for acting like a weird spaz.

I'm really looking forward to the DfE publishing their trans student guidance this week (if the Sun is to be believed), if only for the REEEEEEEing that will inevitably ensue from Susie Green et. al.

Of course Susie is looking forward to the adaptation of Paris Lees's memoir:

You have no idea how hard it was to keep my mouth shut about this...
I'm working with a creative dream team to develop What It Feels Like for a Girl as an 8-part series for the BBC and I cannot wait for you to see what we're cooking up!

Whoooop!! Can’t wait to see it, huge congrats 🥳 😊❤️

Sarah Stuart has a good review of What It Feels Like For a Girl: Book Review: What it feels like for a girl, by paris lees – The Lies They Tell (archive).

I wonder if the BBC series will include 13 and 14-year-old Lees getting repeatedly groomed and raped by adult men, and Lees reflecting that it was all fine? Or the bit where Lees says he was gang-raped at 14-years-old by 15 men and "loved it"?

The book ends when Lees goes off to university and continues to prostitute himself. Lees continues to promote prostitution as "empowering". He wrote an infamous Vice article which he opens with: "Last summer I went to Ibiza, where I was catcalled, sexually objectified and treated like a piece of meat by men the entire week. And it was absolutely awesome." I Love Wolf-Whistles and Catcalls – Am I a Bad Feminist? (archive)

His idea of a woman is so nauseatingly dismissive. He wants to be raped, beaten, the bottom, submissive, and decides that’s what women are. What an absolute gross ideology. And BBC decides to platform this and mock women with the forced images of make believe porn as their guide.

The idea that I was 'transed' is ridiculous. Being an out trans person, I have been met with so much abuse. No parent would choose or force their child to live a life filled with so much hatred. I knew who l was at 4 and regret nothing. #transandproud #lgbtq

Susie Green @green_susie100
Proud of you. know you know that you can expect the haters to say stupid shit. But still. To go public in such a toxic time is brave. Love you

Schofield is an excellent example of how male sexuality is valorised over everything. He was hailed as a hero for coming out without anyone giving one thought to his WIFE. And everyone was polite and didn’t mention the fact that he’s a groomer.

In the same way, the concept of the trans child only exists to reassure porn addled coombrained male AGPs that their perverted and catastrophic life choices are uwu so heckin valid. Thousands of children destroyed to make middle aged Eddie izzard pervs feel better about donning cheap frocks and slapping some bronzer on their cro magnon brows. The coom must always come first.

only male sexuality that is not straight... if youre straight dont you fucking dare date anyone 5 years younger or more than you

The decision apparently releases at 10am UK time today. I'm fully expecting the most clown-world of clown-world outcomes, with mermaids found to lack standing to bring the case, but lgba somehow found to not be a charity anyway. Not that it matters much; Jolyloyloylyn and the good law project will spin any outcome as a complete victory.

Or, as one wag puts it:

e2: Pink News is predictably seething (a).

e3: Mermaids are spinning that one of the judges agreed with them, but all he actually said was that he wasn't sure that LGBA should be registered in the hypothetical case that mermaids had been had standing to challenge LGBA's charitable status and also had proven harm. Neither was the actual case in the case, as it were. Regardless, they agreed that mermaids was interfering where it had no right to interfere.
