Well, this could be the final nail in Mr. Kelly's career. Past collaborators like Lady Gaga, Chance the Rapper, and Phoenix have apologized for their collaborations with him. I think its too little too late. These people did their collabs only a few years ago and knew the score. Gaga did replace his collab with one from Xtina, but the OG version of Do What You Want is still on streaming. she said she's taking it off soon.
Yeah, fuck them too. Most of those collaborations happened well after the creepy Aaliyah marriage and pedo piss video. He was still popular enough back then to give them some cred/shift some records or whatever but now that he's become toxic (and rightly so) they're like rats fleeing a sinking ship. I remember Lady Gaga in particular being very dismissive of any criticism over her collab with Kelly back then...she was well aware.

Lady Gaga's statement/apology was laughable IMO (and I am admittedly a fan of her work-- I think she's SUPER talented). All she did was talk about herself, and made lame excuses for collaborating with R. Kelly. "I'm a victim, and I've gone through stuff." Okay, and? Why did you work with R. Kelly? Why did you make statements years ago, LITERALLY calling those accusations "lies"?

There's a music video that she made with R. Kelly that never got released. TMZ apparently has the video, and they leaked a couple of clips from it a few years ago. Let me tell you, those small clips are damning enough. If the entire video were to leak ... I don't think that Gaga's career would recover from it. I wouldn't be shocked if it did leak entirely very soon, too.

She literally plugged her own Oscar Nominated song from a few years ago into her public statement, too. What the fuck?

For the past couple of years, Gaga has been suffering from Trump Derangement Syndrome. Literally, when she received a BAFTA award for A Star is Born this week, she started her speech with "Kavanaugh is still here, right? And Trump?" The hypocrisy is astounding. Dr. Ford's story is 100% true even though her story didn't add up and stayed inconsistent ... But R. Kelly, even though there is VIDEO FUCKING EVIDENCE ... "Lies." They're only truths now because she HAS to say it now.

God, the entertainment industry is so fucked. I pretty much hate all famous people.

One victim said he picked her up right after his trial ended. But yeah, he hung around schools, malls, and a McDonald’s to look for girls. Anywhere you’d find teenagers basically.
Aaliyah’s mother said the information involving her daughter is all lies. It’s a smear on the reputation of a girl who everyone agrees is the victim, apparently. I just don’t believe Aaliyah’s parents were with every single moment. I hope she’s just in denial and isn’t trying to cover anything up. R. Kelly probably put that poor girl through way more than what was mentioned in the documentary.

LOL at "it's all lies." It was in the fucking papers when it happened and was public knowledge in the media.

Gaga's trying to save her reputation and I don't believe her public letter. She knew about it and defended it at the time, and worked with Kelly anyway. I'm pretty sure she's making excuses and telling sob stories because it's Oscar time.
In 2013 she even said that the R Kelly thing was untrue.
“R Kelly and I have sometimes (had) very untrue things written about us so, in a way, this was a bond between us.”

Now all of the sudden she's like "OMG, the stories about him are horrible and disgusting." Bitch, you knew. Honestly when I read her long apology letter it looked insincere and more like a way to cover her ass. It was more of a "please forgive this drama and I'll make this apology so I can win my Oscar."

It's one thing for her to fuck up. It's another thing to spend YEARS after her fuck up championing herself as some type of spokesperson for feminism and sexual assault survivors without mentioning a single word of her collaboration with R. Kelly or her complete dismissal of those accusations at the time of her collaboration with him.

NOW she speaks out when she's finally put under pressure, and of course when she's up for an Oscar.

Disingenuous is a nice way of putting it when it comes to what I think about her right now. And I say this as someone who has been listening to her music since 2008, and not at all as a "hater."

The way I see it if she truly felt bad about being involved she would have said all this years ago when nobody was talking about it. This makes it look like she was pressured into doing this, but also to save her ass since the Oscars is quickly coming up. The timing is bad. And her making that rambling apology about her life makes it look like she wants people to feel bad for her to forget the association with R Kelly. None of this makes her look good.
She should have said nothing and made her comments after the Oscars when the drama would die down. I'll admit I've grown tired of her but either way I would have felt this way about the way she handled this. I didn't like how she tried to write it off as like she found out the details just now.
All you have to do is look back on previous stories and it undoes everything she said.

if "Lady" Gaga gave a shit about this she would donate ever cent she made from her R. Kelly collab to a charity that supports victims of sexual assault. Until she does that, nobody should take her seriously. Unfortunately her phony moralfagging will be enough for normies and they'll forget about all of this.

That's a great point. Most of her fans are already going on about how this makes up for it and how she's good again. Which honestly isn't surprising. At this point I'm just sick of celebrities writing their sad story phony apologies when it comes out that they're hypocritical like this.

This. Unfortunately most people are utterly fucking retarded and will be satisfied by any meager attempt to right a wrong so long as the person is seen as "good." If this was a person who already had a bad reputation, the R. Kelly thing would decimate them. Lady Gaga has superfans who will support her no matter what.

I would have respected Gaga's words a lot more if her apology was short and she admitted she knew about R Kelly and just did the song anyway. At least it would have been genuine. Just say "yeah I did the song with him and knew everything and I won't work with a person like that again."

she pretended that in 2013 we didn't all already know that R. Kelly was a known pedo and sex pest.

Exactly. Everything about her "apology" was a turnoff for me. She made the situation solely about HER. "I'm a victim too, feel bad for me! I was young (actually, she wasn't-- she was twenty fucking SEVEN at the time) and didn't know what I was doing! I didn't know about the allegations!"

Bitch, everybody knows about his obsessions with peeing on minors AT THE VERY LEAST. Welcome to 2003, Gaga.

And the reason why the music video never got released is because more serious allegations against R. Kelly were just coming to light (and given the subject matter of the song AND the explicit nature of the video), I think that someone on Gaga's team with partial brain function went, "Hm ... Maybe we shouldn't release this?!"

I remember when Gaga did that cringy performance on SNL with R. Kelly, where their dance movies literally simulated sex. When people got (rightfully) grossed out by it, she was like "HAHA I can't wait for you to see the music video then!" all over Twitter. I remember distinctly that THAT was the moment where I knew I would never ever like Gaga as much anymore. Still enjoy her music, but man ... Her personality absolutely sucks.

Mad TV's Statutory Rapist skit aired when I was a teenager. That's how long the story has been going on. Gaga was old enough to know. And from what we know now, people in Hollywood know the stories about what goes on behind the scenes. No way did she JUST find this out. She cared more about her song and her album (that bombed) more than R Kelly's history. She needs to stop acting like she cares. Other people in the industry have stayed away from notorious offenders in projects. She could have and was already rich enough then.

For those who are curious, here's some of the footage that TMZ leaked of the "Do What U Want" video:

I just get angrier when I think about this video. This video does NOT resemble the actions of a grown-ass woman "not knowing about the allegations or the controversy." She knew damn well what she was doing; she was about to bask in the controversy upon the release of this single.

Another sad thing about this song is that it is actually pretty fucking great. She could have chosen ANY other male singer to perform R. Kelly's part ... Very sad, indeed. Gaga sabotaged her own song because she wanted to make headlines.

I hope the full video leaks at this point. I'd love to see the "Little Monsters" go through the mental gymnastics of defending it while they act as if Donald Trump is the worst thing to happen to women ever. lol.

Didn't Aaliyah do "Age Ain't Nothin' But A Number" when she was with R. Kelly?

I heard that R. Kelly used to pick up teenage girls in parking lots of schools and other places.

In the documentary they also said he'd go up to teen girls in malls. But since he was R Kelly any raised red flags were ignored. People knew. Parents cautioned their kids that hanging with him wasn't a good idea. Yet so many let it happen.

I haven't seen the documentary yet but I could have sworn that I heard a rumor about R. Kelly with a teenager and prom.

@StarkRavingMad Why didn't Lady Gaga just go with the version with Christina Aguilera? That makes this story even dumber. There were two options. She went with the rapist instead.

@Oscar Wildean Furthermore, she could have just released the superior solo version. The additional second verse in the Xtina and solo versions give the song more context behind its real (and clever) meaning. The R. Kelly version (and the verse he sings) makes the song inherently sexual ... Which is a problem when the song is literally titled "Do What U Want (With My Body)." Le sigh.

I really do think that this song is sadly one of Gaga's best pop songs. The production value is just impeccable. The song is a great combo of 80's pop and 90's R&B. This song COULD have been her biggest hit if she had not gone about it like an asshole.

EDIT: The solo version I posted got taken down, here's another link.

You’re thinking about Patrice Jones. He met after her prom and started a relationship with her. Poor girl just wanted to learn about music and get into the industry, it’s so sickening how often people take advantage of other young musicians like this.
