To be more explicit, the US is composed of several states, and a federal government. The powers of government are divided up between them. Those powers not delegated to the federal government, nor prohibited to the states, by the constitution, belong to the states. This is implicit but also made explicit by the 10th amendment. Those powers that affect all of the states, such as commerce, are supposed to be given to the federal government. All others are for the states.

For example, say its WW2. Nevada, even though its not California, has an interest in California not being invaded by the Japanese. Because if they were Nevada would probably be next. Therefore waging war, is a power given to the federal government. States do not have that power.

That's authoritarian as shit, the people are eternally stuck between two parties, both are shilled by media conglomerates, and any other choice is either disregarded or sabotaged to fail. Why are the people still insisting in these two parties?
Both have failed to satisfy the needs of their own followers, that shit should've collapsed after the end of the Cold War.

It's quite funny how the same country who claims to defend Democracy abroad isn't even democratic domestically. Even South American countries are more democratic than the US at this point.
