UPDATE: SubscribeStar has since updated their policy to remove the bit about furries.
Online subscription platform SubscribeStar quietly amended their Prohibited Content policy to be in line with demands from payment processors, following Patreon and other mainstream platforms.
Until now, SubscribeStar has been the choice for content creators chafing under Patreon’s rules which affected artists, game developers, and other content creators. The new rules for SubscribeStar single out fictional content explicitly in addition to common sense rules against actual child abuse. (You can check out the old content policy here).
However the rules go further, forbidding fictional “coercion”, “incest”, and even anthropomorphic “furry” characters unless they meet their arbitrary criteria. If your furry character’s knees bend the wrong way, SubscribeStar is basically telling you to kick rocks.
These types of censorship policies also affect SFW content creators in the crossfire. Many ASMR creators (ASMRtists) tend to be affected by this rules, with moderators erroneously assuming their work is done for sexual gratification.

To top everything off, SubscribeStar explicitly refers to compliance with payment processors as the reason for this change, leaving no room for doubt as to who’s responsible.
Last year Itch.io and Steam came under attack by payment processors and activists advocating for censorship of video games. Patreon, Fansly, and other mainstream content platforms already have existing policies.
In the meantime, creators are searching out a new alternative such as PixivFanbox or others.
