I love all of the mom jokes about Steve:

Imo, he was the MVP of the season. Eleven is still my favorite character, but I really love Steve's character development. He went from being a stereotypical 80s movie jock to being a cool, sympathetic older brother figure to the rest of the cast.

MomSteve was a great example of the show's biggest strength: taking characters in ways you would never expect but still feel natural and satisfying. In S1, Hopper initially seems like the bored, skeptical, disaffected small-town sheriff. You know, the guy who tells Agent Mulder there are no werewolves in Kentucky only to get mauled by a werewolf. Instead, he becomes incredibly invested in the whole thing.

Same thing happens with Steve. He starts off as the girl's douchey boyfriend then goes on to have a character basically entirely independent from what Nancy's doing.

Honestly, both Nancy and Steve got better as characters after they broke up.

^Woah that was really good and informative. Your "pal" does some really good work and I'll be looking forward to his work in the future.

It is interesting the current wave of 80s nostalgia and it's interesting that it hits demographics that should hold no nostalgia for the time period. It does make me wonder what the future holds if the nostalgia wave remains prominent and stuff.

It be interesting to see where it might go (even if I'm not involved).

So does Will even do anything in Season 2 than continue to be a helpless kid? I'm sorry, I loved Winona Ryder in the original run, but I was really hoping her next act wouldn't be a repeat.

And of course, they inject Barb into it but promptly forgets.

Frankly, I have no clue where to go in a third season. Seems like there's hardly anything left to do. It feels like anything they can do is backtracking.
I hope they don't reintroduce some secret government conspiracy thingy. Similarly, I don't know if they can make another "other side creature pops up and causes problems" plot without it feeling stale, since it'll be the third time they do that.

Seems like there's hardly anything left to do.
The big octopus monster’s still out there and apparently so is Matthew Modine’s character.

There’s stuff to do, but I agree this concept doesn’t have much more mileage in it. Apparently it’s going to end after its fourth or fifth season which sounds about right.

Well I'll certainly watch season 3, but I can't imagine it being as good as the first season.

The second season was OK, they were never going to recapture the lightning in a bottle of the first season.

Max was an utterly pointless character, the "zoomer" thing didn't make sense (That's not a D&D character class damn it!) and yeah, the girl who is as good as the boys, but she's also a girl! angle is pretty played out. Still, she didn't bother me at all, although the jealousy angle between her and 11 seemed really dumb to me.

Billy was so fucking over the top it's hard to know how to react. I mean, he comes home, puts on his white trash music, pumps some iron between puffs off his cigarette and pulls off the 40 oz? I mean jesus christ, have a little subtlety guys. And oh my god, what a complete surprise nobody could ever have seen coming, the bully's dad is an abusive asshole.

Also... how exactly was that whole situation solved? He's about to murder their friend, his sister injects him with something and is like "Hah, now we beat you, no more bullying!" and he was like "I am convinced!"
That situation just wasn't resolved. Maybe season 3 will deal with the fallout, or maybe they'll just sweep that whole mess under the rug.

Steve's actor is really fucking good at acting like he just got his lights punched out. A little too good, maybe, he seems to get knocked out from every punch he gets.
