Conformity Gate is totally cope from the fans who are so let down from this finale ... But it's also a really well thought out and awesome conspiracy theory.

I wish Conformity Gate was real. It would absolutely be the biggest mindfuck reveal in television history, and it would be awesome.

If I were the Duffer Brothers, I would be seething over the fact that my fans were the superior story tellers. lol.

As far as my investment goes with shows, I totally bet on the right horse by caring about Cobra Kai more. Better writing/storytelling, better 80s nostalgia, better kid actors, better payoff, and now an infinitely better ending that actually landed, etc ...

With you 100% on that. Also, I had watched all of 'Welcome To Derry' before this final Stranger Things season which really highlights how much ST is just a janky ripoff of 'It', right down to the gay character whose Big Gay Secret™️ is used against him by the Eldritch baddie.

Welcome To Derry had its issues but it's a masterpiece compared to this. This was Game Of Thrones S8 levels of bad and they should have tweaked S4 to be the series finale. It's too bad Stranger Things wasn't done as an anthology.

Agreed, and I’m not a fan of Stephen King stories. I tuned in because months before I found out the creators of Dark are attached to season two of Welcome to Derry, so I knew I would need to see the two movies and season 1, just because I need to watch anything they are involved with.

The two IT movies were okay, and by the same director who makes the tv series as I understand, but I loved the tv series.

in just a handful of weeks did what Stranger Things couldn’t pull off in ten years, a big emotional moment, with a character we hardly knew but were already attached to.

My sysadmin at work got me the last season I'm seriously thinking of just watching the gay episode and the last episode. Are there any other plot points that I would need to watch in any of the other episodes? I have watched the entire series so far so it's not like I'm not familiar with the series.

I didn't even watch the show but the mems about "Conformity Gate" are pretty cool and I'm actually buying into it.

You mean to tell me that the writers and show runners care so little that they filmed that graduation scene with everyone sitting in the same pose for no reason and also they forgot which way the basement door opened?

The same writer who wrote that coming out scene, directed by those guys who took 12 hours to direct it? Whose happy ending for the faggot character is to go get aids in a gay bar in Milwaukee?

Yes.

Can somebody give a brief explanation on this conspiracy theory(or link me to it if I missed it)? I’m curious if there’s anything to it or if it’s just delusional cope but I’m not trawling reddit or twitter to find out.

The ending of the season and series is so bad that people are coping about a secret final episode, much like the tards who coped about The Snyder Cut or Morbius.

If you type conformity gate into Instagram you’ll find a ton of shorts.

Multiple people have recommended Welcome To Derry to me. Might have to check it out.

I also agree that this final season of Stranger Things is on the same level of trainwreck as GoT S8. It might be slightly less awful than GoT solely based on the fact that at least the first season of Stranger Things can stand on it own just fine.

And yes, I'll also echo your sentiments about how this should have been an anthology series instead.

I don't think an anthology series was necessary but I think giving the series a concrete Big Bad in Vecna was a huge mistake. It should've been something akin to the Chaos Gods from 40K where Western and Eastern scientists keep fucking around with the Upside Down, causing repeat catastrophes that are increasingly bigger in scale and the kids having to deal with that. You also get to keep the "every man" aspect of our core team of heroes where instead of being "the only ones who can stop the end of the world", they are instead just a bunch of really resourceful little shits who keep doing their best to try and survive the latest quasi-apocalypse, thus making them a bit more relatable.

I thought about this, because I thought that this would actually be such a cool stunt to pull for really any show with magic or syfy elements.

I don’t know if any distributor would ever okay something like that though, since finales are such huge events that get really played up for publicity in advance.

The last season of one of the biggest shows on television ended up being so shite that people can't believe it so they think a "proper" last episode is coming.

I see a lot of people talking about Welcome to Derry. I've watched the first 3 episodes and I've almost given up on it already.

It's very well made but it suffers from the same thing most big shows since GoT have. Nothing really happens.

The actress that played Max's mom has pointed out that her character just disappears and is never mentioned again, and she wishes they'd given her a scene or two so she could get her SAG health insurance for her cancer treatments. Merka.

It picks up a lot in episode 4. If it still seems like a waste of time at that point you're probably not going to gel with it.

There's 2 or 3 moments in it that made my eyes roll...like a native american character who says something like "borders are an invention of the pale faces"...but, it's an immersive series that's written better than most shit now.

Conformity Gate is just proof that the ending was so shitty that any random fan could do a better job at writing the script.

The reality is, the Duffers kind of just stumbled into a good series and neither had the talent, nor willpower, nor interest in keeping it up. Their egos and hot air of how they were the next MCU kind of huffed their own farts up their noses. They didn't give a shit about the writing and just thought they could do no wrong. They fucked up and they fucked up badly. DND was never supposed to be a big part of Stranger Things. The DND they play isn't the correct version that was out at the time and the Duffers knew very little about DND going in and they didn't bother at any point to hire a consultant. That should tell you everything you need to know about how they do things. "I'm going to do what I want, if it causes problems, we'll fix them later". This eventually turned into never. There is no Series Bible. They didn't set up rules for their own universe. They legitimately did not care enough in the decade development of this show to write rules for their story.

The Duffers were traditional style TV show runners and it shows. The Netflix format kind of really hurt them. Season 4 however, was a fluke. They had a lot of time on their hands and nothing better to do than write. It was pretty hard to fuck up anything. However, come Season 5 all of their bad decisions and choosing to keep the entire cast regardless of whether it made sense or not, DESTROYED the final season.

I have a feeling that Season 5 on the backend was riddled with production issues. It seems to me that Netflix handed the Duffers a blank check and said don't fuck it up. I think they went way over budget in preproduction alone. The Duffers are reckless showrunners who write by the seat of their pants and do whatever they want. They also got a blank check and went nuts.
The theatrical cut and release was not cheap and it wasn't necessary. It was cool, but not necessary. None of this was cheap. Millie Bobby Brown was no longer cheap. Hoppers actor has Marvel money and Winona Ryder was never cheap. They threw in Hamilton for some ungodly reason and I'm sure she wasn't cheap. Finn Wolfhard is no longer cheap. Dustin is no longer cheap. You want to know why there were no Demigorgons or Demidogs in the finale? They probably couldn't pay to animate them. You want to know why the upside down looks like shit? They had no money for better effects. You want to know why they went for so many character moments and really bottle showed the hell out of this season while nothing happened? They ran out of cash and wasted it on dumb, unnecessary ideas and I bet someone finally noticed and told them "Fuck no". You want proof? Watch their interviews. They are arrogant fucks.

That's probably why Netflix has cancelled their new movie. The Duffers got too big for their britches and delivered a shitty finale because they're incompetent morons who wasted money on vanity things.
