Genuinely believe it's a way for her to try and push away from the public's perception of her just being that adorable child star from the show. ''Look I'm an adult now. I have tits. Take me seriously as an adult actor now.''

I'm slowly making my way through the new episodes because they are frankly way too long and fuck all happens in them but Milly straight up breasts-boobily in every single scene she is in. It's fairly pathetic.

Also, Maya Hawke and the girl that plays Nancy literally look like skeletons.

Also, Winona Ryder is a fucking terrible actress. I actually had to google to see if other people had noticed this because i've seen better acting in zero budget horror/porn movies. If she wasn't Tim Burtons wank-fodder we'd never have had to suffer through her hackery.

Haven't seen any of season 5 ... Just enjoying the memes about Will's coming out/end of the world party. lol.

That said, when I saw the actual clip that everyone has been clowning on, I was flat-out distracted by Maya Hawk.

She straight up looks like a terminal patient. She makes Ariana Grande look healthy by comparison, holy shit.
It used to be that child stars were cute in something then disappeared to do their spiritual collapse in private. Since this show went on for 10 years with the same actors we get to see it and have everyone smile and pretend it's not happening. The actor playing the gay kid ending up being gay himself honestly creeps me the fuck out, if my kid ever wants to get into acting I'm handcuffing myself to him, they can CGI ne out of the shots.

Making Robin gay was a dumb choice, should have paired her off with Steve. I don't care about Der Dyke and her munted nurse girlfriend.
Making Robin gay was a last minute decision by Maya Hawke. I largely suspect she was meant to be Steve's new love interest but then she said on sight "WOULDN'T IT BE A NEAT TWIST IF SHE WAS A LESBIAN INSTEAD?! IT WOULD SUBVERT EXPECTATIONS" and either the director, or a Netflix executive ate that shit the fuck up. So come season 4 they had a choice, either give Steve a new love interest and introduce yet another new character, or do the Love Triangle again. They chose Love Triangle. I imagine if you asked the writers, they'd say something like "Steve deserves a better love interest and we wanted to take time to do it right, so we chose not to do it in season 4 since that story put Steve in a smaller role." So if you hate how we're rehashing the same old fucking plot points from season 1 with Nancy, Jonathan, and Steve and you feel like ripping your eyes out from boredom, remember this is all Maya Hawke's fault.

Looks “a bit” like Alice in Wonderland?

They couldn’t beat you over the head harder without risking being sued.
The costume designer apparently also had to put her foot down about making the cape Holly wears gold, rather than red, because that was just too on the nose.
I caught up on the series. It doesn't particularly feel like "Stranger Things". One aspect of it is how cheap everything largely looks now. The Upside Down is very threatening during the early series - it actively feels like a rotting, disgusting parallel world that would be unhealthy to spend time in.

In this season they're relying on practical effects far more, but they end up just looking like papier mache Tim Burton vines on everything (because that's what they are).
01kd7v1zc9dk03ycpe0k.webp strangerthings3.png
There's zero threat in the Upside Down, now - the vines being dangerous and alerting the hive mind was a huge plot point, now characters just ignore them. Wildlife in the Upside Down was a threat, now it's just a big empty copy of Hawkins that characters wander around without much thought and a whole lab has been built in it. The air used to be toxic, now it's completely fine. It feels very much like they've just gone "spooky vines, red lightning, you get the idea". Particularly now the Upside Down is just a "bridge" and the really spooky evil place is Dimension X (a barren rocky wasteland where things like demogorgons would feel out of place, whereas before the Upside Down felt like an evil ecosystem).

The writing is pretty bad too, everything seems to boil down to
"How do we solve x?", "non sequitur", "wait, that's it! Non sequitur has inspired a plan I'll explain through props!"
"Character x, I need to talk to you about my feelings towards you" "I fully agree, Character Y, let's discuss this"
or just "Marvel action sequence".

They've completely abandoned "show, don't tell" and the writing simultaneously feels like it drags but also like it's rushed in several key points (which is a hallmark of unfocused writing). Will's coming out scene explicitly happens because Vecna tortures Will with visions of homophobia - we're told - and so he explains in order to defeat Vecna he needs to come out to everyone across a 10 minute scene so he can fight. While shoehorned in, they could have shown Vecnavision of his friends rejecting him, and Will realising it's a weakness. Instead he literally says "I tried to fight Vecna, but Vecna weakened me by showing me things I'm afraid of. Max says he's afraid of things too, so I can beat him. But I can only beat him by getting rid of the thing I'm afraid of by telling you all I'm gay. Now I'm not afraid, and so I can fight Vecna". I have no idea how that scene needed "two twelve hour days of shooting" (other than Noah Schnapp being a shitty actor).

It seems like Netflix have realised they've got a captive audience who'll stick with the show no matter how mediocre it becomes because everyone wants to see the payoff for the thing that used to be a huge phenomenon. I know it applies to me, I will watch the finale even though I found the last three episodes tedious. So the Duffer Bros are phoning it in, because it really feels like everyone's bored of this IP and is ready to move on.

I do think that's part of the reason there's so much emphasis on Holly Wheeler's plotline, because it means there's a kid on a mystical adventure (the original appeal of the show) rather than a bunch of actors in their 20s having drawn out angsty character plotlines (apparently all the main cast can do now)

Steve and Robin's chemistry was one of the very few not annoying things about Season 3 ... Until they had Robin come out of the closet, that is.

Literally every couple in Season 3 was annoying as hell, except for Steve and Robin. The show spent a significant amount of time building up their relationship only to be like "jk nevermind!" It pissed me off.

Like, fine, have a gay character in your story if you want, but Stranger Things has obviously hamfisted it to a laughable degree. Bad writing is putting it mildly.

And I've always disliked Nancy. I was on Team Steve since the first season (for real, Steve breaking Jonathan's camera was more than justified-- Jonathan's a creep!). Steve is too good for Nancy, and from the spoilers I've read, it looks like Steve and Nancy are going to be the endgame? Boooooo.

Millie's hellbent on not ending up like Daniel Radcliffe and is showing off now that she's an adult and can act before she moves off to have kids at 28 and get some accolades under her belt outside of Stranger Things before she retires. Hence, "LOOK AT MY SAGGERS, IM A GROWN IP NOW". Also, I know a sports bra when I see one and it does her no favors. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Winona Ryder was the one telling her to start showing some skin. She's one of the few who made the transition from child star to adult actress successfully.
Also, Winona Ryder is a fucking terrible actress.
She's been phoning it in since season 2.

Holy fuck, ozempic and it's consequences on Hollywood are fucking horrible. Both of them look like a coke addled hookers.

Don't be surprised if he's the reason Will is gay in the first place. He might've said something just like Maya Hawke or they did it as a "surprise" for him.

Steve is too good for Nancy, and from the spoilers I've read, it looks like Steve and Nancy are going to be the endgame? Boooooo.
I mean, I hate Jonathan. I've hated Jonathan since season 1. I've wanted him to die. He clearly has no further role in this show. Nancy too, she's been dead weight since season 3.

You know, what a fucking missed opportunity. We could've had memes for days. Can you imagine? Will receives visions of homophobia from Vecna where all of his friends point and laugh at him and call him a fag? Or he tries to go in the store and the clerk points to a "NO FAGS" sign? Or Mike just goes "Sorry, but you're weird. I don't want to be friends with a gay". These scenes probably do exist, mind you.

This reeks of someone from Netflix having a functioning braincell and (rightfully) putting their foot down.

I'm a Winona Ryder fan.

I thought she was fantastic in Season 1 ... Her character has remained completely one-note though, and as an actress, what can you do with that? I'd be phoning it in too.

You aren't at all taken aback at her constantly making "guh-guh-guh what?" faces into the the camera whilst absolutely chewing the scenery?

She is so bad that it feels like she is utterly taking the piss in every scene she is in. It's a dumb nostalgia show for people who love Stephen King books but she could at least put in a bit of effort.

Ah, that would explain a lot.

Guessing we'll be getting a "found unresponsive at her LA residence" headline within the next couple of years. I actually get to the point where i hate watching shows with younger actors and actresses in them because the industry just chews the poor fuckers up and does not give a shit.

She is 20-21 on the left and 26 on the right. There’s gotta be some cult in Hollywood telling women to take meth or something right? Like the lady from Wicked that looks like Skeletor.

Is this what it’s like to watch Game of Throne’s finale live? Way too many cooks spoils the pot.

Anyways, I like the idea that all the characters silent in the coming out scene are actually homophobic. Would a 45 year old Vietnam vet really embrace a gay stepson?
