I like Nancy and I think letting her be a badass is fine, but I'm still struggling to believe her actress could hold a sawed-off like that with ease. I don't like to follow Hollywood rumor-mongering and shit but if Natalia Dyer really has been anorexic during the shows run it wouldn't surprise me. I know some women are just built really petite and small but I can't help but think Nancy's got the bone strength of a baby bird whenever she's onscreen
Apparently Charlie Heaton got her hooked on drugs and that's why she looks like teenage Skeletor now. She was skinny before but still cute, now she looks like she aged 30 years in 3.

The biggest moment of tell don't show for me was Hopper delivering his entire life story and trauma about Vietnam in a fucking monologue with some of the worst acting I've ever seen from David Harbour.
For me it was Henry delivering his entire life story and trauma and for some fucking reason the showrunners decided to go with BOTH show and tell, like... why? I get that this show is "zoomer Goosebumps" or whatever, but they really seem to lack any faith in their audience.

Having that tendril snake over his arm revealing the "001" tattoo on his arm was frankly insulting. How little must the Duffer Brothers think of their audience to have thought that was necessary?

I hated how they handled Jason. It seems like they wrote Jason to be a fairly decent guy who's just operating on what information he has, only to treat him like slasher film fodder. He's nice to Lucas and the last time we see the dude alive he's trying to save Max's life. The only reason he isn't helping the main cast is because he doesn't know information critical to understanding exactly what is going on with the killings, but it seems like the writers treated him like he's just a douchebag jock who got exactly what he deserved. Billy was a complete psychopath in season 2 and 3, and he got a redemption arc. Why'd they do Jason so dirty?

Season 4's been extremely good for the most part. The worst part to me was when they visited Dustin's girlfriend. The tone was just so off-putting and stupid, like an entirely different show was shoehorned in there for no good reason. [/Spoiler]

This season really went off the rails with the stereotypes with both Jason and the stoner guy whose name I can't even bother to remember
It was funny during their first scenes, when Jason delivered the cliché high school musical level jock speech for the basketball game, and when it was revealed Jonathan is now a pothead whose only friend is an even worse pothead. But then they kept dragging that schtick on and on. Jason's only character trait was to be a stereotypical bully jock and Surfer Dude's only character trait was to be "haha weed, man" and it gets tired really fucking fast. Even Robin who I liked in s3 got so grating, she felt like a "le random XD" 2010 tumblr caricature. The reason this show was so successful to begin with was how realistically they portrayed the 80s (at least in s1-2) and despite the fact you were watching a bunch of middle schoolers singlehandedly fight eldritch abominations it didn't feel silly or unbelievable. I will watch the final season but afterwards I'm gonna pretend like the show ended after s2 for my own sanity's sake lol

Go ahead everyone, pretend all the Vecna clues aren’t in S1-3 :story: They are.

It’s just like Religion. Isn’t this how faith and belief works? When there’s something you want to see, you will see it. When you don’t want to see it, it won’t be there.

Which clues? All I can remember is that gay ass connection they made with the mind flayer's appearance and Vecna's obsession with spiders
That entire scene felt like the writers doing a soyjak pointing meme but that's besides the point

I actually WISH they would have made it about that! Think about it. Twice in a row Will's life has been upended by Upside Down shenanigans (being kidnapped then being possessed). This kid has effectively lost 1 1/2-2 years of his life to dealing with supernatural shit. It makes perfect sense that he would want to try and recapture some of the care free childhood fun and camaraderie that was ripped away from him in the first episode. Sadly, his friends aren't dealing quite the same trauma, and they want to move on to more grown up stuff.
That's a really compelling character arc!
That would have been better, but it's not that.

‘Stranger Things’ Star Noah Schnapp on Will’s Sexuality: ‘He Is Gay and He Does Love Mike’

It's typical of recent shows to save the all the woke shit for the final season, after they've made all their money already.

Those stats you posted were interesting. I assume they are modern clown world stats too, in this era when being LGBTQ+ is being heavily pushed as the coolest thing you can be? And it's still that low. Just a decade or so it was like 3% identify as queer, with only half of those actually practicing gay sex.

It would have been even lower than that in the 80s. I only knew one gay kid in the 80s. He was forced to come out to me because he'd been arrested for sodomizing a much younger boy and was being sent away to juvy. In the 90s, there were a few "bisexual" girls I knew in school. I don't think most of them actually did anything more than kiss other girls at drunken parties. There were no openly gay/lesbians, and no trannies period.

Isn't he spoiling the show with that?

I mean, I've seen people (GenX?Boomers?) extolling Stranger Things for not being woke, and not picking up at all on what they're doing with Will. I try to point them in that direction and warn them that next season will be super woke.

It would not be unreasonable to say that Will is not gay and they're making a big deal of someone who simply cares for and admires his friend, but the cynical side of me says they won't go with that option. Queer whisperers can't shut up about how gay Frodo and Sam must be, so there's little doubt in my mind that the Duffer Bros. would go this way.

It's extremely funny when you remember they spent time explaining to Eleven that people are not simply good or evil, and are more complex than that, requiring full understanding of the context and choices they make before defining them. But apparently that same logic ceases to exist when defining human relationships. "Will cares about his male friend? lol dicksucker"

To be fair, there's a world of difference between Frodo and Sam, who really do not give off gay vibes at all, and Will who, in Season 4, started walking like a flaming homo, talks in that weird lisp stereotypical gays do, has the most blatant example of "gay face" I've ever seen and almost every scene he's in is him staring at Mike with a longing look.

I got to hand it to them, either the Duffers lucked out in picking a kid who they knew would grow up like this or Noah is actually a fantastic actor with shitty material because that kid knocked "closet gay" out of the park.

Though admittedly it would be hilarious if everyone thinks that Will is mega-gay next season and then you have a scene of him turning up to a high-school dance with the hottest girl in town looking Chad as fuck. The social media meltdown would be absolutely worth it.

Seen the rest of it. Overall a great season that had to rebalance the silliness of Season 3 while carrying the show in an interesting direction, and for all intents and purposes it succeeded. However:

- The retcon on "Papa" was the weakest part of the whole season. Sure there were other issues here and there, but him being alive was real flimsy. You last saw him getting kissed by a Demogorgon in Season 1 - he couldn't have survived that. Hell, we thought he was a hallucination or that Vecna was reanimating his body in his likeness.

- Not sure how to feel about the portal being opened and nothing in that hellscape pouring through. Obviously it was for "calm before the storm", but it gives me the fear of Supernatural, where Lucifer is released and angels fall from the sky on burning wings and yet....everything stays fucking normal?

- RIP Eddie. You were way more fitting to the group than the autistic lesbian, and the premise of clearing your name totally failed. Of course you were the only one to die too, hell not even Max got to die. Hope Dustin has that limp for the rest of his useless life lol.

Piggybacking off the gay Will vibes, which he totally is. His brother's speech in the Pizza shop sounded like what I'd say if I knew my brother was gay but didn't want to come out of the closet.
That was what sealed it for me. I remember thinking Will crying after giving Mike his whole "Eleven needs you" speech was suspect but then Jonathan all but says "IDC if you're gay you're still my brother" and it couldn't be more obvious. If it was a bait and switch it will cause the most hilarious twitter meltdown in history, but something tells me the Duffer bros don't have the balls to do that

A part of me almost hoped that Jason would actually join the team (since he wasn't really a bad dude) and we'd see him and Eddie teaming up and being sorta like Legolas/Gimli.

People aren't inherently good or evil, we all have good and evil inside of us and you shouldn't judge a book by its cover!!1!!111 (ie Steve)
Unless you need a character to serve a single plot purpose, then they're as flat as cardboard lol
