I'm guessing you mean Garnet.. her voice actress is black.
Voice actor race has never, in any fandom these people are in, prevented people from insisting that characters are absolutely without question a certain race and anyone who depicts them as anything else is misogynistic/racist/sexist/trying to "ruin" a character.

This was quite alright - but I think I would have preferred a crossover With Clarence or Amazing World Of Gumball - Heck, even Regular Show seems like a better fit... Still ,without saying much - I may need to start collecting more UG episodes alongside this show. As stupid as I feel it is and acts sometimes (unfortunately), that hasn't stopped me from having a true sense of respect and enjoyment garnered from UG, just like this show has gained from me over time, too.

However, I must admit don't think it would have been as enjoyable, had someone from UG written it in place of the SU writers responsible for this. Kind of a shame I feel that way, TBH - but necessary. I could really only see the writers of SU pulling this off and doing it well enough to truly stand out.

And yes, this is just me sperging on. Couldn't be helped this time. Sorry.

For anyone interested in watching the crossover episode it has been put up on YouTube. As other users have mentioned before, it does take quite a few digs at its fandom.
Even having never watched either of the shows in the crossover, nor having any intention to do so, I was already chuckling at the jokes made at the expense of the fandom by two minutes in.

At least the creators have an awareness of their viewer-base.

They've had to deal with a lot recently.

Having only watched UG in passing and only 10 episodes in on SU, I have to agree. This episode really dug into the fandom. " Don't worry kid this isn't canon" line had me laughing my ass off. And the last line "And remember to look at things with eyes unclouded by hate" was just a verbal slap to the more rabid of the fandom

Heh, the dinosaur thing having a Mary Sue-OC was pretty funny, and I love that Pizza Steve. I think I might need to check out Uncle Grandpa.

Still not sold on Steven Universe though.

I've never seen any of these shows but seeing the tiger with a rainbow coming out of his ass making him fly was pretty good

HIM?? OMG!!!1 It's her!!!1 Stop misgendering! Omg! I'm so fucking triggered right now! I think I'm having a panic attack!

Gre atz noww I'mm cryung. Seee houzwe I crye typy!

Anyway - I liked the episode. But I know that certain other people got triggered very hard. Lol Imagine some idiot sitting in front of the computer or tv and crying because they watch a cartoon crossover they don't like. I bet this happened.

Also RIP Pizza Steve

It's going to be interesting to see how these attitudes might shift in the next 5-10 years.

I suspect and hope that for many of them, they'll look back on their tumblr SJWs days the way our generation looks back at our "original, DO NOT STEAL" characters from our adolescence.

You can literally smell him just from an image.

The skunk on the t-shirt is a nasal (?) clue.

I just watched this and had been catching up on Steven Universe episodes I hadn't watched. It really is a great show. Got me right in the nostalgia for my Japanese animes. I'm also going to try watching more Uncle Grandpa. I guess I'm a sucker for bizarre cartoon antics.

R.I.P. Pizza Steve.

the show looks like garbage and anyone who is a fan is garbage

Agreed. I 've watched it, but I cannot fathom what makes everyone else go so "OMG DIS IS THE BEST SHOW EVAR!!" about it. It's like how I watched Adventure Time and went "meh". Maybe I'm immune to whatever subliminal "OBEY! SUBMIT! DO NOT THINK! OBEY!" messages may be broadcast in every episode or something.

I'm not gonna be stoplikingwhatIdon'tlike.jpg about it. Just don't why everyone likes the show more than usual.

The Tiny Toons fandom started this downward spiral.

It just keeps on getting worse.

LOL! You reactivated my memory of Dennis "Quozl" Falk, who pretty much killed Tiny Toons, not just for the fans, but for the creators as well.

http://unpromisedone.blogspot.com/2012/11/meet-dennis-quozl-falk-man-who-got-tiny.html

The creators of TT got back at him when they had him "star" in an episode of Animaniacs.

(FYI: All of the comments that the Internet Fanboys are saying were lifted word-for-word out of actual fanboy comments from Usenet groups like rec.arts.animation and alt.tv.tiny-toon)

On the one hand, it's a fucking cartoon. On the other, I saw a post deconstructing one character's relationship with another (they weren't a couple; they were ruler and subject) and how certain emblems meant certain choices were made to obfuscate identities and how that dynamic affected other characters. Which is really some Simpsons level attention to detail, I gotta say.

Also if people insist on portraying that one character as always black because of her hair, that's fucking racist as shit and they should be ashamed of themselves.

Well there's also how they'll insist to hell and back that Amethyst is a "WOC"

Because she talks slang and has big lips.

Really.

i'm a huge fan of steven universe, and since i still use tumblr regularly obviously all the shitty fans are throwing fits left and right about the crossover. tbh the funniest complaint is the beginning of the episode, where uncle grandpa appears in a shell dressed like steven's mom. it was clearly a reference to the old venus painting and that steven's mom is important, not a joke abt a man in a dress. but of course tumblr threw a fit bc MEH TRANSMISOGYNY!!!!!!!11!

i personally thought the ep was hilarious and a nice playful jab at the older audience. tumblr is too sensitive and loves to cry wolf over everything.

Okay, I need to confirm it, but apparently the reaction Tumblr's having to the crossover now includes finding reasons to hate Steven Universe.

Uncle Grandpa is everyone's uncle and grandpa at the same time. So he helps like an uncle or a grandpa would.

And he once dressed up like a woman to try and understand one. This is, somehow, 'transmisogynistic'.

Never watched Uncle Grandpa. I guess he's a guy that likes helping others out?

Cause if @A Random is right that his mere appearance in SU is driving sjws out, then he's just helped us too. :heart-full:

At least I'll be able to enjoy both shows equally now... I can live with this.
