Steven Universe Fandom

Because they're immature and childish?

I'm sure somewhere there is some whacko with a dakimakura of Gus Fring, but you generally don't see this idiocy with stuff like, say, Breaking Bad. As weird as they get is some cosplay.

However, there is spergish hyper-analysis of even stuff like this. I know, I've done it, and you'd find a lot of that kind of thing on TWoP back when it existed.

Well, the Breaking Bad fandom has had its own problems...

It wasn’t without controversy, however — upsetting some people who have relatives buried in the same cemetery who are worried the fake Walter White tombstone will attract tourists and gawkers to the site.

“My son is buried about 15 yards from where the makeshift gravesite is,” Manuel Montano told KOB. “This is a place of mourning. It’s not a spectacle.”

And then there's this.

“There is nothing original, or funny, or cool about throwing a pizza on this lady’s roof,” Gilligan said. “It’s been done before — you’re not the first.”

“Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” actor Jonathan Banks added, “And if I catch you doing it, I will hunt you down.”

Far more benign then sending death threats to creators or other fans, but no fandom is free of this kind of stupidity.

Oh shit, I just remembered something!

Remember how one of the reasons people gave for shitting on the SU/UG crossover is because UG relied on "Cheap, offensive humor like fart jokes"?

I'm sure they excuse the fart jokes by stating that Steven is a child and is just doing things that children do. Meanwhile Uncle Grandpa is the true scum of all cartoons and should be burned for doing the same sort of jokes.

I understand how fart jokes are cheap, but how are they offensive?
A man farted near me once. I was so scared and shocked that I cried and ran back h0me. Looking back on it, I felt like I was raped by that foul explosion of gas.

Uncle Grandpa should know better then to make fart jokes. It is mocking to all us fart survivors.

Damn. Making fart jokes AND wearing a dress. Uncle grandpa truly is worse than satan, hitler, stalin [insert moar evil beings].

No cartoon is safe from Tumblr's wrath, even if it lasts for just a moment. I remember when they all got in an uproar over a dress joke in Gravity Falls, but they quickly shut up about it when that sweet, sweet triangle showed up.
No cartoon is safe because almost five years after it happened, Tumblr is still butthurt that they "missed out" on MLP and had been looking in vain for something of a similar phenomenon to pop up. Nothing really was enough to inspire them until SU came along.

It's not because they missed out on MLP at all, it's because Rebecca Sugar made the best episodes of Adventure Time.

SU is a pretty okay show. It's not as groundbreaking as Tumblr makes it out to be. It's done a mixture of things I've seen other cartoons do that they seem to ignore. I do wonder what they'll move onto next once they get bored with SU.

No, it's because they missed out on MLP. They tried this exact same shit before with:
  • Care Bears
  • Littlest Pet Shop
  • The new Sailor Moon Series
  • Gravity Falls
  • Wander Over Yonder
  • Any Cartoon Hangover series
Basically they did this with every new cartoon series that came after MLP because they really, really, REALLY wanted an MLP of "their own." Trust me, I've seen this first hand and remember when Gravity Falls was a brand new series about to be aired. They had the same "don't let the fandom become like bronies, guiz!" rhetoric that they do now with SU. The only difference is that they're so violently trying to defend SU because it ticks certain boxes and that's where the insanity comes out.

I should rephrase what I said. It's not so much groundbreaking in the show, but outside is what seems to matter just as much with the SU fandom. Rebecca Sugar being pretty young and successful with having her own show and having directed an episode in another seems to be a really big deal within the community. She also drew and wrote Invader Zim stuff when she was a teen, so I guess that counts for something that would make SU more special and relatable for the younger fans. If Rebecca could make it big, so could the fandom.

Honestly, the fact they want an MLP of their own is kinda... disturbing. Like, speaking first hand from when the brony thing started, it was a complete accident. It's a dopey, cutesy kid's cartoon that happened to be pretty fun. Which, of course, spread across 4chan. Then the spergs attached to it, and we ended up with the My Little Autists- everyone's favorite punchline since Sonic fans.

It's not something you want to happen. It literally turns a fandom into that fandom. Unfortunately, Tumblrtards have no self-awareness, so of course they want an MLP.

None of this would've fuckin happened if Aquabats Super Show was the breakout hit.
