The real question is, why would you gladly welcome someone who is openly telling you they are unwell and dysfunctional? Perhaps honesty is seen as a virtue to most people, but when it's paired with admitting a boundary crossing vice, healthy brained people will smile and nod politely as they exit.

People who stick around will have all sorts of interesting issues; the main theme being that they grew up with/ have become attached to dysfunctional conflict in relationships before meeting this "honest" person. Any early life relationships (usually parental) will set the stage for that. It will feel familiar, right, comfortable to them. I don't know if there's a term for it, but that's right. I've talked about it before, but he does it because it absolves him of guilt and allows him to justify it to himself and puts it on the other person. People like Steven use "consent" in this very weaselly way.

He knows women will get attached, they'll get jealous, they'll start believing that it will lead to something else, and he comforts himself and absolves himself of all guilt by saying that he's upfront about it. Steven will take what we're saying and turn it into, "Oh, so women can't consent? Mentally ill people can't consent?" But that's not really what is being said. What's being said is that he has so little respect for other people that he thinks he can just do the bare minimum and if he harms people he harms people.

The other function it serves is making Destiny seem like someone who needs sympathy despite the fact that he has none for other people. Destiny does feel shame. He doesn't feel guilt. There is a big difference. He has a lot of shame, particularly around anything that can be used against him by his enemies.
